About Immortal Music's creator:
Greetings there, person of the internet! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Ariel May, and I am the founder of Immortal Music. I began this website properly in 2011, and have always adored music. My personal favorites have changed a thousand and one times over the years, but the love has always been there. I don't exactly know where to start, nor do I think anyone really cares about who I am. That's not going to stop me though, I'm still going to give you some information just on the off chance that someone out there is even the slightest bit curious about who's behind this whole site. Which speaking of, you can get some more information on the website by going over to the Information Lair, which I believe has always been part of this website. So has this page, but they have both changed quite a bit.
Except for the little graphic above this text. I made it circa 2012 or 2013, and while it doesn't look fantastic, I couldn't bare to part with it. I'm a bit of a sentimental person, what can I say? I suppose it has a bit of a charm to it. I also must warn you to be prepared, I am a natural born writer, and do tend to ramble on because of that. I don't know how to do anything in a short, sweet and to the point manner. Which is fairly ironic, since something people tend to remember the most about is me my size. I'm quite small, in fact I'm 4'11 and a half. Anyone that's short knows that any little bit counts, so you must always include every half inch you've got.
Oh boy, what do people even write in their bios? I honestly have no clue. Since this is a music site, I suppose it would be logical to start with my favorite bands. As stated before, this has changed greatly over the years, and surely is set to change again at some point. But currently, my favorite bands are Papa Roach, Shinedown, I Prevail, A Day To Remember, and All Time Low. My all time favorite song is "Scars" by Papa Roach, and I actually have a tattoo referencing that song and A Day To Remember's "Sometimes You're The Hammer, Sometimes You're the Nail."
Over the years, my favorite bands and artists have included; Three Days Grace, Escape The Fate, Bullet For My Valentine, Mayday Parade, Jonas Brothers, Pierce The Veil, Black Veil Brides, Adelita's Way, Art of Dying, Asking Alexandria, Breaking Benjamin, Avril Lavigne, Hilary Duff and Backstreet Boys. The last two were when I was very young, but still must be included. I'm sure there's been more that I considered favorites too, but I'm forgetting now. We could get into all of the favorite songs, but I think that's best saved for an actual post. Go look through the blog posts to find out if such a post has been created at this point in time. If not, please feel free to ask me to do so through the Facebook page, my Instagram or comments any of the videos on the YouTube channel. I have Twitter as well, though admittedly I rarely check it. I am however on Facebook all the time, and am planning on bringing the activity back up on the page, and I scroll through Instagram way too often. Fair warning though; If you want just music related content, don't bother with my Instagram. I do post concert pictures on there, but I'm a massive fan of Disney and Pop Funkos, so there's mostly pictures of those and baked goods on my Instagram.
I first decided to create Immortal Music after a friend of mine showed me Bryan Stars' first interview with Andy Biersack, who was going by Andy Six at the time. Every interview I had ever watched in the past was kind of dull, and everyone always went well out of their way to do anything humorous. I think that's why Bryan stood out to me a lot, because he went for the humor and got a lot of fun answers. It instantly made me question why I wasn't doing that. I've always loved to write, and when I was younger it was all fiction stuff. I somehow out grew that great of an imagination and really cannot write fiction anymore, but I absolutely loved music. I remember thinking, "Why not write about music?" So I just went for it. I actually started writing reviews in 2010, and making a physical portfolio of reviews and examples of news articles that I was going to present to Alternative Press magazine. After attempting to send them several early articles, along with my first interview ever and getting no response, I gave up on that idea and decided to do my own thing. I'll get more into the details on what happened after that over time, and if you've been here for a while, you've probably heard most of my stories already.
I will say this though; when I covered my first show in November 2011, I learned something about myself. I love photography, both inside a concert and out. I'm still learning, and practicing, but I can definitely say I've come a long way. I originally began taking photos on this tiny hot pink camera that cost around $70 at Walmart. I don't even remember the brand, and slowly moved up from there. I shot with a Fujifilm brand one that looked like a DSLR, but wasn't even close for a few years. A memory card broke inside of that, and I got a used Nikon Coolpix from a local photographer. That also was a wannabe DSLR, but it definitely got the job done. Somewhere in this time I also got the smaller version of this camera just for vlogging. Its great for footage, but absolutely sucks for photography. I still have that, and use it fairly often. The Nikon Coolpix finally crapped out on me fully, and I replaced it with the newer model of the same thing around 2015. That got wet and ruined earlier in 2017, and I was incredibly upset. I won't lie about that. But it actually lead me to getting my first DSLR, which is a Canon Rebel T6. As of the day this was written, I had yet to cover a show with it, but I'm certainly excited to.
I'm starting to run out of things to say now. So, how about this? Enough of me. How about you guys start submitting your stories and tell me a little bit about yourselves? That's always how I've preferred to make friends -is through the love of music.
