I Prevail is an ever growing metalcore band from Southfield, Michigan. They made their debut on December 17, 2014 with their Heart Vs. Mind EP. They really sparked attention with an incredible cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space." Now if you've paid attention to Immortal Music, particularly on Facebook, you probably know that I've rocked out to that cover pretty hard for a while now. I found it pretty late, like probably six months ago or so, and its almost always stuck in my head. It was also my introduction to I Prevail and that cover did lead me to "Crossroads", "Heart Vs Mind", and "Love, Lust and Liars." Which are all on this EP, by the way. The thing I like about I Prevail is how unique their particular sound is. Metalcore, post hardcore- whatever you want to call it, is a dime a dozen, but for some reason, they feel fairly unique to me. I like how they mix the screaming and the clean vocals and the meanings in their songs really show through. Probably my absolute favorite track on this EP -aside from the "Blank Space" cover, of course, is "Crossroads." Its simply beautiful and offers strength to those in need. When everyone says you're not good enough, even your own thoughts, they're there to ring you of your worth. They promise that they've got your back and that it will all be alright. That is what music is, its there to counteract the inner demons, or to offer you some form of comfort. This song is fantastic, and I could not say enough good about it. Definitely go listen to this EP, and use it to get excited because they have a brand new, full lenght album coming out soon! Lifelines will be coming out on October 21, and they have already released a single for the album. "Scars" is the title, and it is most definitely a badass song and its already left many people excited to hear what else they still have coming out. Just before the release of the album, I Prevail will be embarking on tour with Pierce The Veil and Neck Deep! I am hoping to go to the Orlando, FL stop, so stay tuned to see if that happens. Meanwhile, head on over to I Prevail's official website to see all of the upcoming tour dates, and pre-order Lifelines!
