I had heard about Bayside, but I never actually listened to them, so I decided to listen to their 2011 album, Killing Time. I was actually slightly impressed. One of my first thoughts was to think the lead singer sounded a lot like Anberlin’s singer.
While I have nothing to compare it to, because I have only heard this album, I’d say it’s a decent album. I can’t say if its their best or worst, or anything like that, but its not bad. The lyrics are good, but they feel as though they’ve been done before. I can’t quite place it, but vocally I’m reminded of Anberlin, and vocally I’m reminded of Hawthorne Heights on songs like, “Mona Lisa” and a few others. I’m not saying it’s a bad album, just a tad bit unoriginal if you ask me. The only tracks I was really impressed with were “Already Gone” and “Sick, Sick, Sick”. I don’t even have a real reason for that, I just preferred those two. I give this three stars, because its not incredible, but at the same time, it doesn’t totally suck.
