I had heard about Bayside, but I never actually listened to them, so I decided to listen to their 2011 album, Killing Time. I was actually slightly impressed. One of my first thoughts was to think the lead singer sounded a lot like Anberlin’s singer.
While I have nothing to compare it to, because I have only heard this album, I’d say it’s a decent album. I can’t say if its their best or worst, or anything like that, but its not bad. The lyrics are good, but they feel as though they’ve been done before. I can’t quite place it, but vocally I’m reminded of Anberlin, and vocally I’m reminded of Hawthorne Heights on songs like, “Mona Lisa” and a few others.
I’m not saying it’s a bad album, just a tad bit unoriginal if you ask me. The only tracks I was really impressed with were “Already Gone” and “Sick, Sick, Sick”. I don’t even have a real reason for that, I just preferred those two.
I give this three stars, because its not incredible, but at the same time, it doesn’t totally suck.
All reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began.
