Modern Vintage is the third album from the hard rock band, Sixx: AM. The album came out on October 7, 2014 and features a cover from The Cars. That actually happens to be the fourth single on this album, which didn't come out until April of 2015.
The first single from this album, "Gotta Get It Right" was released pn August 5, 2014. While it is a good song about life and wanting to do things over, it just doesn't stand out that much to me.
For me, the stand out tracks are, "Relief", "Stars", and "High On The Music."
"Relief" is one of those songs that remind you that things get better, even in the toughest of times when it feels like the world is never going to be right again. It always gets better, and relief always comes. They say it best in the chorus of the song, by saying, "In a little while, all the noise in your head will fade away and you will find some relief then. Yeah, you will find some relief then. And in a little while, all the weight in the world feels like a rain. And you will find some relief then."
"Stars" is actually the third single from the album, and appears to be offering an escape by inviting someone to run away. "Do you want to see heaven tonight? Do you want to see the stars before they fall?" Its a creative invitation, and I thought it was rather beautiful.
Then there's "High On The Music", which speaks of life, and how difficult it can be but also expresses what an escape music can be. Anything that acknowledges the power of music is an automatic win in my book.
The album itself is very good over all, and we do recommend checking it out. While you're at it, please head on over to Sixx.AM's official website to see tour dates! Their tour with Disturbed and Rob Zombie begins with the festivals Welcome To Rockville and Fort Rock on April 30 and May 1, and goes through May 24. Just after the tour concludes, they will be playing at Rocklahoma, River City Rockfest and the KEGL's BFD 2016. During the tour, they will be appearing at Carolina Rebellion, 98.9 The Rock's Rockfest, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, MMRBQ Music Festival and Rock'n Derby.
The fun doesn't stop there either! Just after the conclusion of the US tour and festivals, they head on over to Europe to play many festivals such as Gods Of Metal, Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, The Power Festival, Sweden Rock Festival, Isle Of Wright Festival, Download Fest, Konzertfabrik 27, Hellfest 2016, Grasspop Festival 2016, Gröna Lund, Tons Of Rock 2016, and Copenhell 2016.
For further information, please visit the respective festival websites, and of course Sixx AM's official website for tour dates, and updates.
All reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began.
