Sixx.A.M is a hard rock band that formed in 2007 and is out of Los Angeles, California. Something that many people instantly think of when they hear Sixx.A.M is Mötley Crüe, and that is because this is the side project for Nikki Sixx, who is obviously the bassist for Mötley Crüe.
The band consists of James Michael as the lead singer, DJ Ashba on lead guitar, Dustin Stienke on drums and of course, Nikki Sixx on bass, also Melissa Harding and Amber Vanbuskirk, who contribute to the vocals. The band has three EPs, and three albums, and is known for songs such as "Life Is Beautiful", "This is gonna hurt" and "Lies of the Beatiful People." Fun possible fact too, the name is a combination of the member's last names. Sixx. A(shba).M(ichael)! So that's rather creative, and not something you hear of extremely often. Sixx.AM released their debut album, The Herion Diaries Soundtrack on August 21, 2007. The album debuted at #26 on the Billboard charts, and it serves as a soundtrack for Nikki Sixx's autobiography. The autobiography's full name was The Herion Diaries: A Year in the Life Of A Shattered Rock Star, which talks a lot about Nikki's herion addiction he had in the late 80's. He also had a quarter of the profits go to Running Wild In the Night, which is a charity for abused and abandoned children. The book came out on September 18, and was 413 pages long, and it featured a collection of diary entries Nikki Sixx wrote between Christmas of 1986 to the same time in 1987. The soundtrack though, actually features one of the most beautiful and popular Sixx.AM songs, "Life Is Beautiful." It encourages people to see the beauty around them, and stop and think. Its just a wonderful song, and its no wonder that its one of their most known songs. The band's second album, This is Gonna Hurt came on May 10, 2011, and also was a companion book. Nikki Sixx released a second book, This Is Gonna Hurt: Music, Photography and Life Through the Distorted Lens on April 12, 2011, and this album goes with that book. The album debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200, and hit number one on the Hard Rock Charts. The first single from the album became another iconic song from Sixx.AM, which is "Lies of The Beautiful People." The song is beautiful and is something almost everyone can relate to. Its a sad fact of life that people say hurtful things and put people down, and this is talking about changing that and shutting down what people say. Its just a beautiful song that everyone should hear. They decided to release an acoustic EP in December 2011, that featured acoustic versions of hit songs like, "Lies Of The Beautiful People", "Life is Beautiful" and "This is Gonna Hurt." Despite what many believe, this seven track EP, appropriately called 7, was related to the seven deadly sins, but the band has said several times that there is no meaning to the name. It is only called 7 because there is seven songs. It doesn't go any deeper than that. The band's third and currently most recent album, Modern Vintage came out on October 7, 2014 and was introduced with the first single, "Gotta Get It Right", which came out in early August of 2014. Something interesting about this album is it features a cover from The Cars. They did a cover of the song, "Drive", and did a fantastic job. The fun hasn't stopped there though. That is the latest album Sixx. AM has out right now, but they will be releasing a two part album this year. The albums will be called Prayers For The Damned and pre-order are available now! The first part of album comes out April 29, and as it stands right now, we are not sure when Part 2 will be released! But when you pre-order part one, you will get the first single, "Rise" instantly. You can also get several different very unique bundles with your album, if you go through Sixx.AM's official website.
