Voting began back in March for the 2nd annual Alternative Press Music Awards, and you can vote for a while longer. Immortal Music has been voting too, and felt like addressing who was in it, and may even be taking notes for the Immortal Music Awards. Those won't happen until closer to the end of the year, but tips on how to run things are always kept in mind.
This however, isn't about this. There's several different categories, and many nominees for each one. We all have our favorites, but ultimately only one will win. The voting is anonymous, as most voting situations are. But we thought, why not share our thoughts on it? Here is who we have been voting for for the APMAs this year. Some commentary is added to each category and we may just suggest someone entirely different that is not nominated. We named every nominee, and highlighted our choice. Our choice is usually followed up by a quick explanation on why that was our choice. If there wasn't one, the explanation will be highlighted. Best Vocalist Tyler Carter (Issues), Vic Fuentes (Pierce The Veil), Lynn Gunn (PVRIS), Adam Lazzara (Taking Back Sunday), Jeremy McKinnon (A Day To Remember), Hayley Williams (Paramore) This was a tie for us between Vic Fuentes and Jeremy McKinnon. Since you can vote as many times as you would like, we have voted for both. Both Pierce The Veil and A Day To Remember are in our list of favorites, so this was a difficult choice. If forced to choose outright, we probably would have to say A Day To Remember as we find ourselves listening to them slightly more often than we do Pierce The Veil. Best Live Band A Day To Remember, Letlive., Panic! At The Disco, Paramore, Twenty One Pilots, The Wonder Years We have yet to see any of these bands live, but we chose ADTR because they are ones on this list we want to see the most. Out of the bands we have seen, we want to say its either All Time Low, Shinedown or Papa Roach. Best Breakthrough Band Beartooth, Echosmith, Modern Baseball, Neck Deep, PVRIS, This Wild Life PVRIS has totally blown up, as have all the bands on this list, but their lyrics are rather impressive. We still need to do more research on the bands to make a totally fair choice, but based off what we have been exposed to, we do wish to give this category to them. More research will be done soon for all bands mentioned in this article. This will include album reviews, and blog posts in the future. Stay tuned! Best Bassist Kyle Fasel (Real Friends), Jeph Howard (The Used), Ryan Jay Johnson (Letlive.), Zack Merrick (All Time Low), Devin "Ghost" Sola (Motionless In White), Dallon Weekes (Panic! At The Disco) After following All Time Low's work since 2007, and having seen All Time Low live twice, Zack seemed like a reasonable choice to us. They all are very talented, of course. Best International Band The 1975, The Amity Affliction, Marmozets, New Politics, Northlane, Crossfaith After they toured with Fall Out Boy a while back, they drew our attention and as it stands right now, they are the only one on this list we have listened to a decent amount. Artist Philanthropic Award Andrew McMahon (Dear Jack Foundation), Bayside (The Human Rights Campaign), Koji (Doctors Without Borders), Jake Luhrs (HeartSupport), Simple Plan (The Simple Plan Foundation), Taking Back Sunday (American Cancer Society) We were slightly torn between HeartSupport and The Human Rights campaign, after we did some research. We are all for equality, and reminding people that they're not alone, so both foundations spoke to us well. Best Guitarist Arun Bali (Saves The Day), Jordan Buckley (Every Time I Die), Tony Perry (Pierce The Veil), Kevin Skaff (A Day To Remember), Will Swan (Dance Gavin Dance), Jacky Vincent (Falling In Reverse) Tony has just impressed us, and we felt the need to choice him. 'Nuff said? Best Drummer Cyrus Bolooki (New Found Glory), Rian Dawson (All Time Low), Jake Garland (Memphis May Fire), Adam Gray (Texas In July), Matt Greiner (August Burns Red), Luke Holland (The Word Alive) Best Underground Band Being As An Ocean, The Hotelier, Knuckle Puck, Major League, State Champs, Tigers Jaw We heard State Champs one day while in a Hot Topic store, loved it and asked who was playing only to discover State Champs. They're just a good pop punk/ whatever-you-want-to-call-them band, and we were impressed. Most Dedicated Fans All Time Low (Hustlers), Crown The Empire (The Runaways), Fall Out Boy (Overcast Kids), Motionless In White (Creatures), Paramore (Parafamily), Twenty One Pilots (Skeleton Clique) Our personal choice is All Time Low with the Hustler Club, but that's because we would consider ourselves to be in that category. We actually must say that Motionless In White's Creatures probably are the most dedicated. You can spot them, or any member of the BVB Army from a mile away. They wear heir 'fandom' with pride, and its awesome. Song Of The Year Beartooth "Beaten In Lips", Motionless in White "Reincarnate", Real Friends "I Don't Love You Anymore", Set It Off "Why Worry", Sleeping With Sirens "Kick Me", PVRIS "My House" Its just an incredible song, and that's all we have to say on the matter. Hakuna Matata -it means no worries. Worrying does no good -so why worry? Album Of The Year Beartooth -Disgusting, Black Veil Brides -Black Veil Brides, Circa Survive -Decensus, Every Time I Die -From Parts Unknown, Frnkiero andthe cellabration -Stomachaches, Gerard Way -Hesitant Alien, Issues -Issues, La Dispute -Rooms Of The House, Linkin Park -The Hunting Party, Real Friends -Maybe This Place is The Same and We're Just Changing Out of these choices, we do have the say BVB's self titled album wins, BUT our actual choice is F.E.A.R by Papa Roach. The songs never leave our head, and every song speaks to us on a personal level. Artist Of The Year Against Me!, Black Veil Brides, Crown The Empire, Issues, Motionless In White, New Found Glory, Of Mice And Men, Slipknot, Taking Back Sunday, Weezer We actually were torn between Of Mice And Men, Black Veil Brides and Slipknot. Slipknot has made a massive return and their guitarist, Mick Thomson has been through some terrible things this year and is still going strong. He was stabbed in the head and is still killing it on stage nightly. If that's not dedication, we don't know what is. Best Music Video Bring Me The Horizon "Drown", A Day To Remember "End Of Me", Fall Out Boy -"Centuries", Modern Baseball "Your Graduation", PVRIS "St.Patrick", Set It Off -"Why Worry" A Day To Remember's "End Of Me" video is incredibly thought provoking and deep. In our hook, it wins with no questions asked. So, there you have it -that's who all we have been voting for for the 2015 Alternative Press Music Awards. Who are you voting for? Care to share?
