I want to talk about something very serious for a moment, because a fan of the Facebook page came to me and said she had a question. Not knowing her question, I simply said I may have an answer. I wasn't expecting her question to be, "Is cutting bad?" I didn't know how to respond at first, though I knew the answer was "Yes, its bad." I wanted to say more than that. I don't know this girl personally, but I know she is struggling with her family issues right now, so I only assumed that she was asking because she personally does cut.
My response was, "Cutting is very bad, if you ask me. I mean, some people argue that its a stress relief or whatever, but I personally do not understand how. It tends to leave a scar, even just for a little while, so I don't get how that'd help someone forget about whatever had them upset. I feel like it'd help you remember, and that's just not a good thing. There's other stress reliefs that are far less dangerous. Not only does it leave a mark, but it risks infections from not only whatever was used to cut, but if you leave the wound open bacteria can get in, ect." I went on to ask her why she asked, even though I probably already knew. She said it shouldn't matter, but I told her that it does, and reminded her that I told her before that everyone is worth worrying over, as just yesterday she said to me she was not worth worrying over. I thought that was such a shame. Grudgingly, she did admit that, yes, she has cut. I asked her why, and quoted Kellin Quinn by saying, "Wrists are for bracelets, not cutting." She told me that she couldn't think of a logical way to deal with things, and just sort of did it on the first thought. I made her promise to never do it again, and gave her an idea that I feel many more people might want to consider. The next time anyone feels like cutting themselves, find a piece of paper, and cut it. Or tear it some, if you don't have anything to cut with. That way, you cut something, but you're not causing yourself pain. Paper can be taped up, or replaced. You can't. I also told her that life is a bitch, because if it was easy, it'd be a slut, and then it still wouldn't be easy, because then there'd be STDs. Life is gonna hurt you enough, so it doesn't make any sense for you to do harm to yourself. You just gotta kick life in the balls, and fight with all you've got. If you ever find yourself feeling down, just blast the music, or get on YouTube and start watching stupid YouTubers, and let yourself really get into them. Don't watch or listen while thinking about it, start just thinking about what they're saying or doing and soon enough, you'll feel better. Life does suck, but at the same time, life is what you make it. You CAN make it rock. I could quote so many bands right now. You were created to do great things, but words only come to life when you believe. Props to anyone who knows what I just quoted. You have to believe in the words, and believe in yourself. I'll let you in on a secret too. Life is so much easier once you stop giving a fuck what other people think, and stop trying to carry the entire world on your shoulders alone. Most importantly TALK TO SOMEONE. Anyone. Whether its a friend, a family member, a teacher, counselor, or some random person on the internet like myself, they might just change your life, even if its just for a little while. Also, don't let anyone tell you you're weak, or stupid for cutting. You're not. You're just going through a rough patch, and learning the good ways to deal with things. If someone makes fun of you for it; ignore them. They're just being mean for nothing.
