A picture showed up on Facebook that asked fans of a page to name off some numbers to those who run the page. Each number was actually a different music related question, and I did share this on the Facebook page. Some numbers were said, but it seemed like a lot of fun to just do them all in one place. That place is this blog post. So, without any further stalling, let's get into it. Some of them will have more than one answer, and some songs may be repeated. Just figured I would give that little disclaimer before I began answering the questions.
1. A song with a color in the title Purple -Pop Evil 2. A song you like with a number in the title 45 -Shinedown 3. A song that reminds you of summertime Kids In Love -Mayday Parade or We Say Summer by All Time Low 4. A song that reminds you of someone you would rather forget about A Shot Across The Bow -Mayday Parade 5. A song that has to be played LOUD. Just about anything by Papa Roach or Three Days Grace. Also, Asking Alexandria is loud no matter what you do. They demand to be heard. 6. A song that makes you want to dance I don't really dance, but Lost In Stereo by All Time Low works somewhat. Especially live. That's a really fun one live, everyone goes completely nuts and its fun. 7. A song to drive to Its a lot of fun to blast anything My Chemical Romance and "Pretty Handsome Awkward" by The Used while in the car with friends. 8. A song about drugs or alcohol Stella by All Time Low, or Bottoms Up -Nickelback. 9. A song that makes you happy There's so many....this one is really hard. Old Scars by All Time Low, I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace, Scars by Papa Roach, I'm Not A Vampire -Falling In Reverse, and a ton more. 10. A song that makes you sad Miserable At Best by Mayday Parade sometimes makes me sad, the ultimate one is used in a different question later on. 11. A song that you never get tired of Scars by Papa Roach, Let It Go from Frozen, almost everything by The Jonas Brothers, or All Time Low, ect. I don't really get tired of songs. 12. A song from your preteen years "Why Not?" by Hilary Duff -I was 10 when this came out. 13. One of your favorite 80's songs Pour Some Sugar on Me -Def Leppard 14. A song that you would love to play at your wedding. When You Look Me In The Eyes -Jonas Brothers. 15. A song that is a cover from another artist Since U Been Gone -A Day To Remember (Originally by Kelly Clarkson. This was the first cover I ever knowingly heard), Grenade -Memphis May Fire (Originally by Bruno Mars), Year 3000 -Jonas Brothers (Originally by Busted), For The First Time In Forever by Stellar Kart (From Frozen.) I could go on for a while. I tend to quite like covers. I could actually very easily just make a list of really good covers. Maybe I should do that. 16. One of your favorite classical songs. Don't kill me...but I don't know the names of classical songs. I know I've heard a ton of them, everyone has. I just can't for the life of me name many. There's Beethoven's 5th Symphony but that's one of the only names I can remember off the top of my head. 17. A song that would be sung as a duet on karaoke I don't sing, BUT singing anything from Frozen is a lot of fun when I'm with a friend so I'm gonna go with one of the songs from that. Probably "For The First Time In Forever" because it actually is a duet. 18. A song from the year you were born Heart Shaped Box -Nirvana (August 30, 1993. I was just barely three months old when this came out.) 19. A song that makes you think about life Legacy by Memphis May Fire, All I Want by A Day To Remember, Stay Awake -All Time Low, Life's What You Make It -Hannah Montana, Unity by Shinedown. 20. A song that has many meanings to you. I nearly drew a blank on this one. I am remembering one line though in "There's No Going Back" by Sick Puppies that sparked a conversation with my mother and I. "You can't regret what you don't decide." She was taking it like you chose not do something and you should just accept that. I took it more like if something just happens, and it was out of your hands, regretting it does no good. Because you didn't have anything to do with it, it just happened. So maybe that counts? 21. A favorite song with a person's name in the title. Amber Lynn -Mayday Parade (Not necessarily a favorite for me, but I do like it and it was the first song to come to mind with a name.) 22. A song that moves you forward. Legacy by Memphis May Fire. That is the most inspirational song I've ever heard. Just behind it is Face Everything And Rise by Papa Roach. 23. A song by a band you wish was still together. Hold On -Jonas Brothers. 24. A song by an artist who's no longer living. You Only Live Once -Suicide Silence (It counts! Mitch passed away in 2012, and he was their singer so he was very much part of it.) 25. A song that makes you want to fall in love. Not much really does...but I do have to say If You're Audrey Hepburn, I'm James Dean by Sleeping With Sirens is incredibly sweet. 26. A song that breaks your heart. Photograph by Nickelback. The first note is enough to make me burst into tears, I honestly cannot listen to it. The song had already made me think of my great grandma, who had Alzheimer's disease. The song speaks of looking back at old pictures and remembering, and it always made me sad because...she couldn't do that. Well, nature apparently decided to ruin that song for me because moments after I was told my great grandpa (her husband) had passed away, it came on the radio. I forever connect that moment to that song and honestly will burst into tears if I hear even the first second of it. 27. A song by an artist with a voice you absolutely love. Life Starts Now -Three Days Grace. I adore Adam Gontier's voice and that song is just beautiful. 28. A song that you remember from your childhood. Shape Of My Heart -Backstreet Boys. This was one of my favorites by them growing up. I was a big fan of them when I was little, to the point that I wanted to marry Nick Carter. I didn't even care that he was fourteen years older than me, I just liked him when I was like five. 29. A song that reminds you of yourself. Skeletons by Papa Roach. The day the F.E.A.R. album came out, I bought it and was so enthralled with it. Then this came on and my jaw about hit the floor because he once again described me and thoughts I had. Same thing happened with "Scars" and "Broken As Me." Papa Roach lyrics tend to speak to my soul, and I cannot explain it. Well, I think that covered it, and now I want to see what you guys have to say. You can answer select questions or all of them if you would like, but I genuinely want to know what you guys would say. Remember, like always, you can answer them here in the comments, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Be on the look out for the post about covers too! I probably will do that for real because I know of a ton of covers.

I've been toying around with the idea of a possible series, but haven't quite decided to do it. As previously stated, I do teach a friend of mine about who's behind the music and several have suggested I make that a proper series here on Immortal Music. So far, I haven't done that, and still am unsure if its a waste of everyone's time. That being said, with the lessons, comes song suggestions and I thought that could be something I do normally online. It could introduce you to new bands and I can suggest some of my favorites by them.
For each band I could give a quick over view of the band, and just name songs I personally really enjoy from them. Everyone else can add their own commentary, like the songs they prefer or ask why I picked what I did, ect. This could be a very interactive thing, and I think it could end up being quite interesting, so I think I'm going to try it. I'm going to start with a band most people still have not heard of, but need to. They're friends of mine called Sunshine And Bullets, and they are a four piece hard rock/alternative band from Saint Petersburg, FL. They're pretty well known here in Florida, and are starting to get some attention outside of the state as well. They have one album out which is called Triangular Mechanism and if anyone's curious about you can get it on iTunes and read the review I wrote a review about it last year. They're some of the most enthusiastic people you will ever meet, and are very talented. Like most bands, I do have my favorites by them, and here they are. They're not in a real order, except I do still want to say, "Give Them Hell" is my favorite. I just like the meaning and everything about it. Aside from that though, its not in any order. "Give Them Hell", "Go", "Feel Good", "Believe", and "Now Or Never" are some of my favorites. Their entire album is very good though and I recommend people check them out. I know a lot of lesser known bands, just through managing a band, and many of them have pure talent. Sunshine And Bullets though is one of the ones I can guarantee is going to go far. If you would like to check them out, just below here is their video for, "Go" and all of their social medias. Facebook/ Twitter/ Instagram/ Website / YouTube/ Tumblr / Pintrest/ A very popular topic on the internet at the moment is Caitlyn Jenner, and the bravery it takes to come out and change your life to what you want it to be. With that, of course, comes a lot of people arguing about how there's more important things, and other things take so much more bravery than just coming out. While, yes, this is true, its still a big step in anyone's life and people need to acknowledge that. A picture showed up in my news feed that had to be shared. It said, "Caitlyn Jenner is brave. Our troops are brave. Kids who wake up and fight cancer every day are brave. Its not a competition." This picture is true, and this also goes for all the people who deal with any sort of mental illness, trials at work or school, abuse, fears, anything.
If you've ever stood up for yourself or someone else, you're brave. If you get up every morning and face the world, when all you wanted to do was hide in your bed, you're brave. If you live with any kind of chronic illness, and don't let it hold you back, you're break. YOU'RE BRAVE FOR JUST BEING YOURSELF, AND LIVING LIFE. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE. You know what isn't brave at all? Telling someone they're not brave because "it could be worse." It could always be worse, but that doesn't getting through the things in your life isn't worth being proud of. Everyone is leading different lives, and everyone's faces struggles of all shapes and sizes. People are supposed to help one another out, yet they keep tearing one another down. Knock it off. Everyone says they want the world to be a better place, but it never will be if people always bring the each other down. And just a side note to anyone who doesn't' feel like they're at their level of bravery, I have a couple things to say. In the words of Dory/ Ellen DeGeneres, "Just keep swimming." Then in the words of A Day To Remember, "Keep your hopes up high and your head down low." "The moment of truth is the day that you say 'I'm not scared." -Unity, Shinedown. It may seem impossible now, but that day will come for you. Possibly sooner than you realize. In the May recap blog, I told you about the Rock Allegiance Festival that will be happening this October. With that, I stated that it featured part of my dream concert lineup, and it was suggested to me that I write about my actual dream concert lineup. I may have talked about that at some point in the past, but things do change, so its worth talking about again.
This is my dream lineup -which means more than likely its impossible. Well, not entirely, but the big festival one that I'm about to put together will never happen. Dream big or don't bother, right? So, up first is the normal tour lineup, which is only four bands. That lineup is Saint Asonia, Art Of Dying, Shinedown and Papa Roach. Which frankly, I think that lineup is totally possible, and may just happen one day. When it does, it best come to Florida because I don't want to miss it. The festival though is where the actual dreaming starts, and this is what I am almost postive I have talked about at some point in the past. I picture it having two stages, and being an all day event. Stage one would be the smaller stage, which will be the active stage during the day. On it would be some very talented smaller bands that I personally enjoy, along with some other bands as well. Some of them I know semi personally, some I just enjoy. That list is as follows; Remedy X, Sunshine And Bullets, Nine Mile Drive, One Less Reason, The Last Sleepless City, Elisium, Adelita's Way, All Time Low and Pierce The Veil. The main stage would be much busier. There would be Art Of Dying, A Day To Remember, Five Finger Death Punch, and Seether, Shinedown, Saint Asonia, and Papa Roach. Five Finger Death Punch and Seether are thrown in there bcause they're two of my mother's favorites and I think throwing htem in there would be a nice touch. If I'm really dreaming here, I'd throw in the Jonas Brothers somewhere. Most people would hate that, but if they got back together, I'd be quite happy to see them again. I actually do have a set up in mind for the over all festival, like where the stages, food and water, and merch tents will be set up, but i'm not telling that stuff just yet. I would love for Immortal Music to have its own festival one day, so all the ideas are being sealed shut for now. But see why I had to apply for the Rock Allegiance Festival even though its five states away from me? It features Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Saint Asonia and Art Of Dying, who are all on my list. Plust it features Bring Me The Horizon, who I would like to see live, Pop Evil, who is great live, Hollywood Undead, who I wouldn't mind giving anotehr chance, and so many more. Its a wonderful lineup that frankly should be a tour. Since its not, I'm going out on a limb. Its worth a shot, even if it doesn't end up working. What do you think of my festival lineup? Alternatively, who would be on your dream lineup? Let me know! Surely, this is going to spark some interesting answers. Facebook/ Twitter / Instagram It is now June of 2015, and I just have two questions.
HOW IS IT ALREADY JUNE? AND WHERE HAS THE YEAR GONE??? It seriously feels like we were just celebrating new years, and making resolutions we have already forgotten. A quick look back at the website though showed me that I actually haven't dropped any of my resolutions yet, because none of them promised with a time limit. All I stated was that I wanted to get more interviews, t-shirts officially made, 35,000 fans on the Facebook page, and Remedy X 2,000. We actually are fairly close to making the first round of t-shirts, and have definitely been getting more interviews. Since January, I have done 17 interviews -that's just over twice of what we did for the entire year of 2014! We only did eight for the entire year last year. We're only at the start of June and already have more than double for what we did last year. In 2013, I only did one interview. 2012, I only did 4, and in 2011, I did five. Having that realization blows my mind a bit...the website has clearly really grown a lot. At the start of this year, I had only done a total of 17 interviews. Now I am up to 34 interviews, and the number is forever growing. Holy crap. Anyways, enough reflection over the entire year thus far. This isn't about the last five months so far! This is just about May 2015. Since I was just talking about interviews, it makes sense to start with who we interviewed this month. First up was Tyler Dennen of Sworn In, two days later was Up The Chain, Madus, and Walk Off Hits. Dugan from Madus made me extremely happy as he acknowledged the website and gave me a compliment that means a lot to me. I'm not going to tell you what he said, just go read the interview to find out. Now I have to admit, I procrastinated a bit this month when it came to writing. It wasn't a planned thing, it just sort of happened. Between work at the day job, and just general procrastination with some writer's block, writing accidentally got put on the back burner. It wasn't that I forgot to write, because most days I did try to, but not much was coming out. Writer's block sucks, and any writer will understand. Review wise, nothing got written until near the end of the month, and it was reviews for the As It Is album, Never Happy, Ever After and Disgusting by Beartooth. Neither are new albums now, but both are very good. Especially the As It Is album, I kind of love it. News wise, there was a decent amount of things happening. Black Veil Brides announced their first ever concert DVD, Burning And Alive. That will be out July 10, and can be pre-ordered now. Chelsea Grin's guitarist, Dan Jones is taking a leave of absence from the band to do some scientific research at Utah's Westminster College. Every band has guitarists, drummers, singers, bassists, techs, ect, but most do not have a scientist as well! Neck Deep released a new album and album information. Frankly, I love the name they have picked out for the album, 'Life Is Not Out To Get You.' Perhaps its a message many, even non-fans of Neck Deep need to hear. You can pre order the album now and it will be out officially August 14. I was introduced to Walk Off Hits and just before the interview, there was the "Miss Jones" music video. It was an interesting music video for a quite catchy song. It was announced that Pop Goes Punk 6 is getting re-released on June 23 and it will be featuring new covers. One has already been released, and was originally posted on I Prevail's YouTube channel. Then came an announcement that made me exceptionally happy. Saint Asonia was named, then released their debut song, "Better Place." They also had their very first show ever, which was on day two of Rock On The Range in Cleveland, OH. Now you may be thinking, "So? New bands get announced daily, and song releases are totally expected. What's the big deal?" There is no big deal to most, but this band is made up of members from Staind, Finger Eleven, and Three Days Grace. Adam Gontier is one of the biggest inspirations in my life, and frankly, I had given up hope that I'd ever hear him perform new music. Maybe I'll get into all of that properly later on, but for right now, all I'm going to say is I'm looking forward to hearing more from Saint Asonia. There weren't a ton of blogs this month, but that's okay. Two of the posts were extremely important. A very close friend of mine pointed out a couple things to me and painted quite the mental picture. It needed to be shared, and she and I decided it needed to be elaborated on, so she wrote a letter reaching out to anyone who needed some strength in their life. Yesterday (June 2, for anyone reading this at a later date), was her final day of high school, and she will be graduating soon. She told me that she never thought she'd be where she is today, and thanked me for it. I told her she did a lot of of it for herself, I just helped encourage her. The mental picture she painted though is something will never leave my mind, and I sincerely encourage you guys to read both it, and her letter. On a less serious note, I stumbled upon a list of bands and their original names and decided to add my own commentary to them and add more to the list that I had known about. Then I wrote about a dream I had where Warped tour was apparently at Disney World and I was there as a guest of All Time Low's. I have absolutely no idea where it came from, but it was too random and awesome to not talk about. Earlier in the month I started a 'series' where I teach a friend of mine (and anyone else who is interested) in various bands. The first one up was Black Veil Brides, and others have been unofficially done off of the website. At some point, more will be posted, though the next few ones may just be song suggestions with some facts thrown it. This 'series' is going to be inconsistent and will vary greatly. As some may know, a couple months ago I applied to possibly cover the Alternative Press Music Awards. While I am not getting my hopes up, I did decide to write about why I wished to cover it. The chances of covering it are slim to none, but hey, weirder things have happened. If nothing else, they have now officially heard the name Immortal Music, and maybe in the future it will work out. To go with that, I also named all the nominees and expressed who I personally thought should win. Feel free to read that here, if you would like. Off of Immortal Music, there's not a ton to say except at the end of may was my 22nd birthday. I had work, and then went and hung out with Remedy X. They also had a show three days later, where they actually surprised me with a birthday cake on stage. I'm going to be honest -I almost cried upon realizing what was going on, and it was recorded. Once I get that footage, I will share it with you guys, but it may be a while. It was something I will never forget, a friend of Remedy's came out on stage with a cake and started singing happy birthday, and suddenly the entire place followed along. Its one of those things you never really expect to happen to you, but are so grateful that it did. Also, please cross your fingers for me! The Rock Allegiance festival was announced and it features a big chunk of my dream lineup. I will get into the dream lineup more in a few days, but given the fact that it features Art Of Dying, Saint Asonia, Five Finger Death Punch, Bring Me The Horizon and more, we had to try something. We did submit a form to request a press pass for that event. Expect content from artists that will be playing that event for quite some time to come. The event isn't until October 10, and it is almost 18 hours away from home, but would be one hell of an opportunity. I think that about covers it, honestly. This month, I've been listening to a lot of We Are Harlot, As It Is and "Better Place" from Saint Asonia. F.E.A.R by Papa Roach is still being played like crazy, and is currently five months strong with that. If this keeps up, its going to end up being the album of the year in my book. See how this compares to the beginning of May by reading the blog post we made about what we were currently listening to then. So, what have you been up to for the month of May? Like every other month, feel free to share here, Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. April 2015>>> |
