A very popular topic on the internet at the moment is Caitlyn Jenner, and the bravery it takes to come out and change your life to what you want it to be. With that, of course, comes a lot of people arguing about how there's more important things, and other things take so much more bravery than just coming out. While, yes, this is true, its still a big step in anyone's life and people need to acknowledge that. A picture showed up in my news feed that had to be shared. It said, "Caitlyn Jenner is brave. Our troops are brave. Kids who wake up and fight cancer every day are brave. Its not a competition." This picture is true, and this also goes for all the people who deal with any sort of mental illness, trials at work or school, abuse, fears, anything.
If you've ever stood up for yourself or someone else, you're brave. If you get up every morning and face the world, when all you wanted to do was hide in your bed, you're brave. If you live with any kind of chronic illness, and don't let it hold you back, you're break. YOU'RE BRAVE FOR JUST BEING YOURSELF, AND LIVING LIFE. DON'T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE. You know what isn't brave at all? Telling someone they're not brave because "it could be worse." It could always be worse, but that doesn't getting through the things in your life isn't worth being proud of. Everyone is leading different lives, and everyone's faces struggles of all shapes and sizes. People are supposed to help one another out, yet they keep tearing one another down. Knock it off. Everyone says they want the world to be a better place, but it never will be if people always bring the each other down. And just a side note to anyone who doesn't' feel like they're at their level of bravery, I have a couple things to say. In the words of Dory/ Ellen DeGeneres, "Just keep swimming." Then in the words of A Day To Remember, "Keep your hopes up high and your head down low." "The moment of truth is the day that you say 'I'm not scared." -Unity, Shinedown. It may seem impossible now, but that day will come for you. Possibly sooner than you realize.
