It was announced today that Fall Out Boy is going to be covering "I Wanna Be Like You" as part of a Disney cover album, and obviously people got excited. Now, this is not the Punk Goes Disney fans have been dying for, but since this is happening, there's a high chance that could be allowed in the future!
Because of that, we started thinking....who should be featured on a future Punk Goes Disney album? This isn't an original idea, people have come up with combos for a handful of years now, but this is some ideas we had! Here's the problem, there's so many Disney songs and even more bands, so it was incredibly hard to decide who would do what best. These may not be the ultimate best one, but we just threw something together. These are not restricted at all, we kind of just went through our library of music and picked out artists. Who do you think should do a Disney cover? What song do you want them to do? Let us know! There's so many combinations, and it took so long to come up with. We also did repeat movies a bit, but we did not put two different covers of the same song on this list! Just there is two from Frozen and The Little Mermaid on the list. 1. Under The Sea (The Little Mermaid) -All Time Low 2. Do You Want To Build A Snowman? (Frozen)- Panic! At The Disco. 3. Hakuna Matata (The Lion King) - As It Is 4. Reflection (Mulan) -Pierce The Veil 5. A Whole New World (Aladdin)- Fall Out Boy 6. Beauty And The Beast -Of Mice And Men 7. I Wanna Be Like You (Jungle Book)- A Day To Remember 8. For The First Time In Forever (Frozen)- Halestorm 9. I'll make a Man Out Of You (Mulan) -Avenged Sevenfold 10. Part Of Your World (The Little Mermaid)- Memphis May Fire Now for the most part, there wasn't full reasons for why I picked what. They just happen to be ones I thought would do the songs justice. The only ones that had true meaning behind the choices were All Time Low doing "Under The Sea" and Pierce The Veil doing, "Reflection." The reason I picked All Time Low for "Under The Sea" was completely because of the iconic lyric, "Under the sea, under the sea. Down where its better, down where its wetter -take it from me." We all know they were just stating the obvious with the lyric -he's talking about the ocean. However, once we all devoloped out dirty minds, we stopped taking it at face value and began talking it from the gutter's point of view. All Time Low is known for being a bunch of perverts, so it just seemed fitting. Plus its a fun, upbeat song, so that fits All Time Low's sound very nicely. As for PTV covering "Reflection" from Mulan, it was actually because of the lyrics of the song. Pierce The Veil songs tend to be very deep, and tend to be personal. This song was the same way, and its all about wanting to bring your inner self to the surface. We just felt like Pierce The Veil would really connect with this song and do it beautifully. So, there you have it. There's our idea of Pop Goes Disney! There's no right or wrong, and there isn't one in existence yet! Hopefully Disney gets on that soon, but meanwhile we can all dream and you can find all sorts of Disney covers online already! Like we asked earlier, please let us know what covers you want to see come into existence! This was a lot of fun to put together and we geniunely do want to see what you come up with.
