If you've been on Music = Life for a while, you probably know how I feel about religion. ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANITY. They're
generally hypocritical and judgmental, and they especially seem to judge those who listen to rock music. I know a few people on the page that have said their parents would shoot them if they ever caught them listening to bands like Asking Alexandria and Papa Roach.
Just because a song cusses, or talks about sex, or the members are pierced and tattooed doesn't mean its Satan worshiping music! Fuck, you know how many rockstars will say prayers before their shows, then run on stage and scream, "What's up, motherfuckers?!" I've heard of several.
If that's not enough, listen to the lyrics to so many songs! Some parents go so far as to say their kids can ONLY listen to Christian music, and what meaning do those songs have? They all seem to only have one: Praise the lord. Then you get the music I listen to that is relatable. Look at A Day To Remember, "All I want is a place to call my own, to mend the hearts of everyone that feels alone. You know to keep your hopes up high, and your head down low." That song is more relatable in just 2 lines then most hymes are in the entire song! Everyone wants a place to call their own, most people want to help someone feel like they're not alone, AND it tells you to keep your hopes up, but your head down so you have something to dream about, but you're not gonna get hurt.
I'd rather have a kid listening to that instead of a song that says, "I give my life to you." or some shit like that. Rockstars do look rebelious, and sometimes act it, and I'll admit aren't ALWAYS the best role models, but even the ones that drink and party almost nonstop admit that they're bad influences, and tell their fans, "Do not be like us." They sing about real stuff, from their heart, not about something that may not even exist.
I don't even get how people come up with the delusions that listening to rock music automatically means you worship the devil. I don't actually know of a single band that worships the devil! I'm sure there are some out there, but honestly, does it really matter? If you can't prove that your God exists, how are you going to prove that the Devil exists. I like what Falling In Reverse says in "Sink Or Swim", "What if the devil was a lie? What if God did not exist? So, with all due respect, tell me what is death? If life is just a bitch?"
Music is real. It makes sense, and it can make you think! The bible is just bullshit to me, its nothing more than a book if you ask me! I believe that Jesus was a real person, but who's to say he wasn't just like Criss Angel, and a really good illusionist? Or like Chuck Norris and people just saw him do a few cool things and then idolized him like a God? Who says in three thousand years people won't worship Chuck Norris and believe that the Lord Of The Rings books were real?
There is no proof that God exists, or that he hates all the things Christians believe he does. Fuck, for all we know God could exist, and hang out with the Rev, Paul Gray, and all the other late rock legends up in Heaven with piercings and tattoos! Nobody knows for sure, nobody will know for sure, so why won't people just accept that everyone is different and shut the fuck up about it!
Music is everything to me and millions of other people out there. Its a way to look into someone's soul, so honestly, if you're saying rock music is bad, you're judging someone's soul. I'm pretty certain the Bible says that you're not supposed to do that, and only God is supposed to judge people. That's a sin, and I'm gonna stick to my rock music, while worshipping my pierced and tattooed rock stars that cuss worse than saliors. They speak the truth, not preach stuff from an anicent fairy tale.
(I do not mean to offend anyone, this is ust my opinion, and I feel strongly about it.)
