We were apparently completely out of the loop on something. Wednesday night was apparently the NME Awards, where Bring Me The Horizon won the Innovation Award, and both BMTH and Coldplay attended We are only just now hearing about this, but apparently Oli Sykes, BMTH's frontman 'trashed' Coldplay's table during Bring Me The Horizon's performance. A fan filmed the 'trashing', and its caused quite the stir. To me, it doesn't look like much at all. Yes, it is Coldplay's table, and yes he does knock some stuff over, but it doesn't look that deliberate. However, given the latest controversy among fans regarding the album artwork for Coldplay's latest album looking very similar to Sempiternal's, everyone had to take it too far. In an interview, just after the event, the band's keyboardist, Jordan Fish was quoted saying, "I don't think Oli was aiming for Coldplay. I twas just whoever was nearest and it just happened to be Coldplay." Oli then spoke up about it as well. ”I had no sound in my ears so I thought 'Well, there might be sound out there.' There weren't sound out there, so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn't any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there. It was in no way a protest against Coldplay.” But of course, everyone has to assume its something malicious, and someone's always out to get someone else. What the boys in BMTH said makes perfect sense to me. It was all innocent, just people assumed it was something more. Also, just throwing this out there, for the record, BMTH doesn't own that 'logo.' Its the flower of life which is used in religions all over the world and has been for an extremely long time. It is also thought of as a structure that forms music. A google search said, "The distances between the spheres is identical to the distances between the tones and the half tones in music. If you want to stay up to date with the good things BMTH does, not just the drama, be sure to head over to their website! Over there you will see all of their upcoming tour dates and festival appearances! They are extremely busy and will be touring the whole starting in late April! See their website for more info, seriously.

The festival was just announced and will be happening from July 15 through the 17th in Chicago, IL. Day one will be headlined by Ramnstein, who -best to our knowledge- very rarely performs in the US. They will be supported by Chevelle, Ministry, Of Mice And Men, Meshuggah, In This Moment, Hollywood Undead, and more. Day Two will be headlined by Disturbed with support from Korn, Breaking Benjamin, Gojira, Helmet, Deafheaven, The Devil Wears Prada, Pop Evil, Saint Asonia, Norhing More and more. And then finally, Day Three will be headlined by Slipknot with support from Five Finger Death Punch, Marilyn Manson, Bullet For My Valentine, Baby Metal, Killswitch Engage, Asking Alexandria, Corrosion of Conformity, All That Remains, Letlive, and more as well. The entire lineup can be found below, though that is the majority of it. Many of these bands will be performing at other festivals around the US as well! Below is a list of the festivals happening around the US between late April and July of this year. Keep in mind, there may be more, but all of the ones mentioned featured artists that will also be at the Chicago Open Air fest.
Also note that the lineups mentioned below are NOT the full lineups. Be sure to check out each festival website for the full lineup, dates and ticket information.
There's also many happening around Europe in the summer, but that's all to be discussed another time. Is there any festivals you're planning on attending this year? We're personally planning on going to Fort Rock! Let us know about your festival plans in the comments or over on our Facebook page. The other day Bring Me The Horizon announced that they would be coming to Australia later this year. However, no dates were known, and given their hectic schedule already, we weren't positive when they were going to fit it in. Today, through their Facebook page, they announced that the tour will be happening this September and will be making stops in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, and lastly Melbourne. Before they make it to Australia though, they will be playing in South America, and at several festivals around the US and Europe.
They will be performing at Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, and Rock On the Range here in the US, and the BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2016, Rock Am Ring, Rock IM Park 2016, Greenfield festival 2016, Aerodrome Festival, Hellfest, the Amnesia Rockfest, AND many more through out the summer all over Engalnd. For more information, head on over to BMTH's official website or the respective festival websites. Slipknot will be hitting the road across the U.S. with Marilyn Manson and Of Mice & Men! Keep up with any information that may come up by checking out Slipknot's website. Last night (February 15, 2016) was the 58th annual Grammy Awards! Stars from all over attended this prestigious event and anxiously awaited to see who would win what award. One category that caused quite the hype over social media, was the Best Metal Performance. This particular award has existed since 1989, and was granted to many artists over the years such as Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Ozzy Osbourne, Deftones, Slayer, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and many, many more. This year, the nominees were August Burns Red for "Identity", Slipknot for "Custer", Ghost for "Cirice", Lamb Of God for "512", and Sevendust for, "Thank You." The 2016 Best Metal Performance Grammy went to the Swedish heavy metal band, Ghost! One of the Nameless Ghouls for Ghost spoke to the official Grammy website about given this honor, and spoke of their absolute shock over just being nominated. "Being nominated for a Grammy is obviously a big honor for any band or artist — obviously, ourselves included. Especially for us, as a Swedish band, it feels extra honoring, I guess. Especially us maneuvering in the rock genre, where traditionally it's usually British or American bands. To my knowledge, we are the first Swedish rock band to ever be nominated for a Grammy, which is also the reason why when we got the news that we were nominated, I just got a text saying, 'You're nominated for a Grammy.' In Sweden, we have another prize called Grammis, which, internationally, is referred to as the Swedish Grammy. So when I got the text, I told my friend next to me that we were nominated for a Grammis. So it took like an hour later until I actually got it confirmed that they were actually talking about a Grammy, not a Grammis, which was a very mind-boggling experience. So winning or not winning, just being nominated is a big honor, and for us it's definitely a sign of recognition that we can suck on for the rest of our lives." The band has yet to say much about winning the award, but surely something will be said soon -once they get over the shock of it all. If you missed the Grammy Awards, watch the clip below of Ghost winning the Award. Not sure who Ghost is? Be sure to check them out and read all about them here! We wrote about them as part of our Fort Rock series.

As for Alter Bridge, does not appear to be up to a lot at the moment, but surely they're very excited to get up and going. Down time is important, but we all know doing what you love is something special. A petition has surfaces in favor of Shinedown performing at the half time show for Super Bowl 2017. The petition is hoping to get 1,000 votes, and has already reached the band. There's never been many rock bands to perform at half time, its usually a mainstream pop artist, like Bruno Mars, Beyonce', ect. Some of the only rock bands to perform have been The Who, U2, and The Rolling Stones. So, it would be awesome to see Shinedown perform, but we're not counting on it. None the less, you can vote on Change.org to try to make this happen! Who knows, if enough people vote, and share it around, maybe they will be considered! Meanwhile, you can catch Shinedown live on tour all over the US between March 8, and March 18. After that, they will be appearing at many festivals such as 98Rockfest, Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range and Rock N' Derby. In between the festival appearances, they will be on tour with Five Finger Death Punch, and shortly after they will be playing festivals all around Europe. For more information, please visit Shinedown's official website! |
