A headline was brought to our attention that seems slightly fishy. We're not positive this is true, for a few different reasons, so please take the following information with that in mind. Supposedly, Five Finger Death Punch is being sued by their record label, Prospect Park for failing to release four albums and a 'Greatest Hits Album." The contract was signed in December 2012, and Five Finger Death Punch released their third album under this label, Got Your Six in September 2015. According to this lawsuit, which was supposedly filed on April 21 of this year, Five Finger Death Punch is prohibited to record anything until June 2016, and claims they refused to send in two masters for a Greatest Hits album. The lawsuit states, "Regrettably, with the encouragement and assistance of their entertainment lawyer and business manager, the members of FFDP have unequivocally repudiated their contractual obligations to permit Prospect Park to determine the recording elements of a new record and a greatest hits record. In doing so, the members of FFDP are shamelessly attempting to cash in before the anticipated downfall of their addicted bandmate. By this action, Prospect Park seeks to hold FFDP true to its obligations under its written recording contract, thereby allowing Prospect Park to obtain the benefit of the bargain it struck in that agreement, and at the same time, to prevent the band from disregarding the health and safety of a bandmate and destroying itself." There's a few things that make this seem possible, but there's also a few things that just don't quite add up. The first being why prohibit them from recording when they had already talked about going into the studio anyway? That takes away from what you want. You want an album recorded, don't slap a lawsuit on them and tell them not to record. At the same time, considering 5FDP released a two part album in 2013 (Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell), and have stayed fairly consistent ever since, it does lead one to believe that this is possibly true. In their supposed statement, they claim they "are shamelessly attempting to cash in before the anticipated downfall of their addicted bandmate." Which right there just completely broke their privacy, as Ivan Moody was just recently hospitalized for undisclosed reasons. By saying that, they quite possibly just outed him in a time he would rather stay quiet. Five Finger Death Punch has not spoken up about this, but surely if this is a truth to real life event, something will crop up soon. Facts are there to back it up, but some of the sources we found who are talking about this lawsuit make us wonder if this is true or a really well done hoax. If we hear any updates, we will let you know. Meanwhile, be sure to be on the look out because Five Finger Death Punch will be hopefully coming to a city near you very soon. This week kicks off the festival season, and later on they will be going out on tour with Shinedown and Papa Roach. For further information, head on over to their official website.
