At this point, its fairly safe to say that almost everyone in the US at least has heard Disturbed's cover of "Sound Of Silence."
The song was originally done by Simon & Garfunkel and was released in September 1965. It was a success even back then, as it did hit number one in January of 1966. It actually managed to beat out The Beatles, and stayed up in the Billboard charts for 14 weeks straight, hitting different levels through out its time. Disturbed has done a very similar thing with their almost haunting and incredible cover. Its featured on their latest album, Immortalized, which came out in August of 2015. The cover of "Sound Of Silence" actually hit the Top 10 of the Mainstream Rock Songs in February and what Billboard is saying is its vastly different from most of the songs on the chart. Its piano/ keyboard and classical string designed and apparently that hasn't happened since 2002 when Ozzy Osbourne's "Dreamer" reached Number 10. Now its no surprise really, the cover really brings out the meaning of the song because it is rather dark and the original expressed it in a peppy way. Plus, Disturbed is known for being a hit. This is their sixth number one hit song, and every album but the very first one has hit number one as well. None the less, its very impressive. Go, Disturbed for all of your success! We hope to congratulate you in person at Fort Rock this year. Even if we don't get to, we do look forward to seeing your performance. You can too! Disturbed is on tour with Saint Asonia until the end of March, and then will be going out with Nonpoint and Mindset Evolution before performing at many festivals all around. They will be performing at Ufest 2016, 98Rockfest, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock (as previously mentioned), Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, and Rocklahoma. If you would like any further information, please check out Disturbed's official website.
