Good lord, is it 2008 again?? The internet is swirling with talk of the Jonas Brothers, they're number one in iTunes, and have just released a brand new song! Be still my little fangirl heart, be still. In all seriousness, most of you probably don't give a shit, or are frankly irritated by the fact that the internet is once more obsessing over these three boys. I however, am living my best life with this. You probably were unaware that I was once the Queen of the Jonas Brothers fandom at one point. That's a bit exaggeration, but I was definitely over the top obsessed with them for several years. I'm sure I've talked about this some over the years, as it seriously was my life for my entire teenage years, pretty much. That being said, since I grew past that, expanded my music taste, and of course, started this whole journalism thing, I've tried to shy away from such talk. I didn't want to be seen as 'unprofessional' or fangirly in anyway. But you know what? Its 2019, bitches and I can admit that I was a hardcore JB fangirl back in the day, and I feel confident saying that thanks to the entire internet that's freaking the hell out. So thanks internet, I feel great right now! Now that I got that out of my system, Jesus. Sorry. I had to have a moment with myself, I suppose. Yeah, that was definitely me just talking to myself. So hello. Hi, to anyone that's actually reading this absolute nonsense. I hope you're amused by this, but now I actually do really want to talk about their new song, "Sucker." When it was announced, of course I got excited. Its pretty obvious every former JB fangirl did, but I was also a little skeptical about it. If I'm totally honest, I am not in love with Nick Jonas' solo stuff, nor am I in love with Joe's new band DNCE. Both are fine, there's nothing wrong with either in any way, but neither have really held my attention. So, with that in mind, I was fully expecting to be disappointed with their comeback, and find myself binging all the old music for the rest of the day. That still may happen, admittedly, but I actually was happily surprised with the new song. Its not the old style, but that's understandable. Their last album came out in 2009, and Nick wasn't even an adult yet. Now they're all grown adults, two of them are married, one of them is engaged, another has two children and a business from what I've heard, so of course the music is going to change. That is just a proven fact, and frankly if they came back on the scene with a redone version of "S.O.S." people would freak out about it for a week max and move on like it never happened. When the song first started, I was intently listening, but also found my self thinking, "Ehh, I don't know about this." Lyrically, its a sweet song, clearly written about one (or possibly all) of their significant others. Its a simple song, with a more modern pop style, which usually wouldn't have held my attention at all more than likely. I'll be completely honest with you, most new pop doesn't hold my attention. Every now and then there's an exception, but it does tend to be few and far between. There really isn't that much to this song, but it is catchy. When I was first listening to it, I honestly found myself thinking I just want to hear more. This song is catchy, and cute, so that's good, but it doesn't have depth. It doesn't have any deep meaning, and I'm sure there's some people who are probably thinking this is the typical Jonas Brothers song. Catchy, and kind of cute, but nothing too special. As someone who's heard every song they've ever released, I know they're capable of better lyrics. Which is why I think this is a good, strong comeback because its attention grabbing, but I definitely hope there's more to the album than this. There's no announcement as of yet for a new album, but that information will surely be coming soon. Something else I just wanted to talk about for a brief second was the video. Some of the comments were saying they clearly don't have the budget for models anymore, as the girls in the video are not these flawless women. What isn't really mentioned is those women are their wives and fiancees. I thought that was very sweet, especially since Kevin has been married for nine years, and aside from the TV show he and Danielle had for a little while, she has never really been involved with the limelight. Joe and Nick's women are both famous in their own right, but Danielle isn't. Anyway, I literally had to talk about this, and I'm not sure anyone even cares about this at all. If you do, the video is right there, and I must say, I'm kind of happy about this right now. Writing this was a lot of fun, and I haven't had this much fun writing in a while. I was trying to write about a show I went to a last week, and I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'll be able to soon, but meanwhile here was this.
