What is not to love about the Best Kind Of Mess album? All ten tracks
show just how hard they worked on it. Every song is well written and passionate, what more could you ask for? You can really tell that Nich Mathews’, Get Scared’s lead singer was going through a lot while writing the album.
All the tracks are great, but my favorite track is either “Hurt” or “Wrong”. “Hurt” is saying you like seeing someone in pain, presumably someone that’s hurt you. “Wrong” is all about being wrongly accused. “You were wrong, you blamed me. Just take it back, take it back. I was blind, whoa, you were wrong.” People will always do you wrong, and I really liked how this song expresses it.
“Mess” also really stands out to me because a few months back, Nicholas tried to committ suicide with pills and already had an alchohal problem. “I’m another lush, I’m another liar. How will I stop? When will I start learning? Will I come clean and say I’m wrong? I’m the best kind of mess”. That song is honestly a cry for help when you think about it.
This entire album is beautifully written, and some tracks like “Whore” are more fun than heartfelt.. There is really nothing to dislike about the Best Kind Of Mess. I give this album five stars.
All reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began.
