On June 10, 2014, Beartooth released their first full length album, Disgusting. This album does not live up to its title though, as it is far from disgusting.
Anyone who is a fan of hardcore punk music will love this album. It is heavier, and the lyrics are incredible. Through out the entire album, lyrics speak of being trapped inside your own head, and rough situations. Those tend to make some of the best lyrics, as they tend to stick in people's heads for various reasons. For us, a couple of the stand out tracks were, "Beaten In Lips", "Bodybag", and "In Between." "Beaten In Lips" is actually a call out to children of abusive parents. Bullying is a common topic these days on the internet, and is starting to become more apparent in music, but for some reason abuse is not overly so. They brought light to this situation in a very catchy way, and you can't help but respect, and even enjoy it. The chorus and pre-chorus of this song could not be more perfect, or inspiring. "As if life isn't hard already, add it to the list of things to forget. With one chance to define ourselves, we're gonna keep on living. Keep on living. This is for the kids with the beaten in lips, whose parents try to shut them up using their fists. Keep living loud and proud. They never can hold you down." Another one that stood out greatly was, "Bodybag." With a name like that, you would assume it would be anything but what it is. One line in particular stands out and is the perfect message to those who feel like giving up. "One life and one decision. Make sure it ends with you still living." This album is highly worth your time, even if you just choose to look up the lyrics. You can listen to it now through Red Bull Records, or purchase it through iTunes.
