Gerard Way released his first solo album, Hesitant Alien on September 28, 2014, and its caused quite the stir. While its nice to see Gerard making music that he is truly proud of, and happy with, this album does not seem to showcase his talent fully. It barely shines through, and frankly it just doesn't stand out.
Yes, it is unique, but only because it has a vintage vibe, while most things today are do not have that. Its not a bad album, there's nothing wrong with with, its just missing something. The only track that really caught my attention was, "Juarez" and even with that being the case, there is no explanation for why that one stood out and the others didn't. However, a question did come to mind on this one. Why did Gerard feel the need to point out multiple times that he cannot swim in this song? Killjoys are going to be disgruntled by this, but this album honestly only gets a three star rating. That is because its not horrible, but its not great either. Feel free to leave your thoughts on the album below.
