Meliora is not only Latin for 'something better', but it is also the name of Swedish heavy metal band, Ghost. The album was released on August 21, 2015, and is thought to mark the replacement of the singer. Papa Emeritus II retired and was replaced by Papa Emeritus III, though it is thought that Papa Emeritus, of any form, has all been the same person. This album was very well loved worldwide. It hit number one on Finish and Swedish charts, as well as number 2 in Norway, and on two different US charts. It reached the top 50 in fourteen different countries, and has already recieved a gold certification in Sweden. Its not hard to see why they're so widely loved, they're something different! They're very dark, and creative with not only their music, but their image. Its attention grabbing, and something you definitely don't see every day. The first single came out on "Cirice" on May 30, 2015, and had a very interesting music video attached to it that raised quite a few questions. The song though is rather dark, and that's just the way everyone likes it. It sounds great, and gives you the vibe that he's speaking to a deceased person. "I can feel your presence amongst us, you cannot hide in the darkness." You can't hide from the darkness, so you might as well embrace it. We must admit, while we see their appeal for others, this album is not quite our cup of tea. We respect their massive difference to the other music that's out there, and their creativity for their own backstory is insane, but musicially, they're just not really jumping out at us. Perhaps older music from them will be different to us? We're not sure, but definitely see the potential, and would like to hear not only more music from Ghost, but opinions and song suggestions from fans.
