Throw back to August 21, 2007 when Sixx:A.M released their debut album, The Heroin Diaries Soundtrack. Its often just called The Heroin Diaries, but it us actually the soundtrack for the book Nikki Sixx wrote about his heroin addiction from 1987. The book is called The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star, and came out just a couple weeks after the album, on September 18. The book features actual diary entries from that time, along with black and white photos, artwork and lyrics. This album is the perfect companion to the book, and features several beautiful songs.
"Life Is Beautiful" was the first single to be released from this album and it debuted at number 26 in the Billboard charts. Its still to this day one of the most popular Sixx.AM songs and we can see why. It really makes you stop and think about life, and clearly came from a very dark place. You can hear the emotion and that alone makes it beautiful. The entire album is incredible, honestly. Its deep, its real, its beautiful and its thought provoking. You can't ask for much more in an album really. One of our favorite tracks though is "Accidents Can Happen", as its very clearly speaking to those who feel down, who feel alone, who feel like they're failing. He tells them not to give up, and that they're not alone right off the bat, and then points out that just because one day didn't go well, doesn't mean the rest of your life will follow suit. Things take time, and this song expresses that in the most perfect way. As someone who does get discouraged when things aren't going well, this song sits very well with us. As we said before, the entire album is just beautiful and you really do see deep into the mind of Nikki Sixx. We encourage you to check it out, along with not only the book that this goes with, but This Is Gonna Hurt. This Is Gonna Hurt is the next album, Sixx:A.M released but it also has a book to go with it that's just beautiful as well! That one features photography courtesy of Nikki himself, and much much more. Go give Sixx.A.M some love and use all of their work as fuel for your excitment because Sixx.A.M just may be coming your way very soon.
