On September 18, 2015, Shinedown dropped their fifth studio album, Threat To Survival. The title is entirely fitting for the album, as you see deep inside the mind of Brent Smith, the band's vocalist. It appears as though he was in a very dark place, but eventually saw the light and encouraged others to look for it as well.
Overall, the lyrics are slightly different for Shinedown, but all at once, its classic Shinedown. They've always been hard hitting, and deep, this album is no different there. It shows you exactly what its like to be struggling, and the process you go through while feeling lost. It also though, may just encourage people to be themselves no matter what, take charge of their own life, and frankly survive. Hands down though, our favorite was "Dangerous", that was the turning point for us. Just as we were questioning if we really liked the album or not, this one came one. It flat out tells people that they and what they have to say matter. "Everybody is somebody and anyone is you! I own my story. I won't say I'm sorry, and neither should you." "Misfits" was also quite beautiful, as it tells the story of two people not quite fitting in, and being completely okay with that because they had each other. The whole album is very interesting, and thought provoking, as is most of Shinedown's music. Go check it out now on iTunes or wherever music is sold! More than likely, you'll be very impressed.
