Everyone has that their bands that they are simply dying to see, but yet somehow always miss them right? For me, that one was Papa Roach. At least, until this year, anyways. I had actually been at the venue even, but had to leave, so until January 10th of this year, I had not seen Papa Roach. They are the creators of my favorite song, so for good reason, it was a goal of mine to finally see them live.
So, needless to say, when they announced a tour with one of my mom's favorite bands (Seether), I jumped on the chance. I went and purchased tickets, and then decided to ask for press credentials. I don't actually want to talk about the entire show, as I have done it before. You can read all about it here if you're interested, BUT I really wanted to talk about finally hearing "Scars" live. It had been a very hectic (and not in the good way, for the most part) day, so the moment when the song started was the moment I had been waiting for all night. I had fought my way pretty close to the front, and actually was looking down at the ground for an opening in the crowd when I heard the first note of "Scars" start. Nothing else mattered in that moment. I stopped trying to fight the crowd, my headache no longer was irritating me, the song was the only thing that mattered. I purposely put my arm, which has lyrics from "Scars" written on it, up in the air and was singing with everything I had. I couldn't see the entire band from where I was, but I could see Jacoby, and Tobin on and off. A guy was right in front of me right as the song started, and I just didn't care. My mom, however, explained to him what the song meant to me and asked if I could get in front of him so I could see better. He actually did let me in front of him, but at some point we ended up right next to each other. Through some tears, I looked over and noticed he was also singing with about as much force as I was. I got the feeling that maybe the song meant as much to him as it did to me, and it was quite the moment. I don't know, it was just something worth talking about. I hope you guys have gotten to see your favorite songs live, and if you haven't, I hope you get to soon.
