A few weeks ago, I emailed the main people who run Uproar about possible interviews with half of the people on Uproar, including ex-Hollywood Undead member, Deuce. I got lucky enough to receive a response earlier this week asking if I could speak with Deuce on September 13, 2012 in Tampa, Florida at the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival!
It is a truly an honor to get to do any interviews, but let alone one with someone quite so popular. Deuce has been well known for years, and is now on his own. I'm very excited to get to do this interview, but I need your help! This is where you come in. If you are, or know any Deuce fans out there, please help me think up questions. If you have any questions for Deuce, please leave a comment here or on the Music = Life wall and I will be sure to ask it for you. Please include your name if you post it here, just so I can make sure to include

I love music that is thought provoking, and Falling In Reverse's lyrics are very thought provoking. Every time I listen to "Sink Or Swim", I think about the first couple of lines. "What if the devil was a lie? What if God did not exist? So, with all due respect, tell me what is death? If life is just a bitch?" They're loaded questions, I know, but they're something to think about.
More of the world is Christian, and "God fearing" than any other religion. Which means most people walk around believing that anything they do in life is either going to help or hurt them get into Heaven, and possibly avoid them getting into Hell. Some people never question the existence of God, but what if everyone questioned it like Ronnie does? We'll never know the truth, so why not question it? Hell, for that matter, why not ignore the fact that there could be some higher power all together and just live your life the way you want to? Here's how I see things, and I catch myself thinking this nearly every time I listen to "Sink Or Swim". The devil is a lie, the thing that's making you "sin" inside, is human nature. Even the most upstanding citizens do something stupid every once and a while. Its not a sin to give into your human urges. I don't even really believe in "sins" except for murder, and rape. I'm not even sure if those are considered "sin", but they should be, if they're not. So, honestly, in my eyes, the Devil is a lie. Then there's the whole "God" thing. I have seriously debated all of this many times, so my mind is fully made up about this. Bare with me. If a God really does exist, why is the world so fucked up? If God made the world, he could fix the world! It'd just be like a science project: something goes wrong, so you take it out, fix it, and put it back in. I feel like God's pretty heartless if he lets young children get raped, get painful illnesses, die before they even get to live. Awful diseases like cancer, AIDS, HIV, Alzheimer, and other useless and terrible illnesses wouldn't exist. He wouldn't separate families, let people get abused and neglected. When I've said that to people before, they've been like, "He leaves them here as a challenge, just to see what us humans can do." I feel like maybe that's true on some levels, but on some things, he really needs to step in and fix it. God supposedly can do anything, so he needs to realize that humans are humans, not magical beings like we all wish we were. That's another thing too -can someone explain to me how people can believe in God, who can do anything, but not magic? Its literally the same thing to me. I kind of feel like the whole "God" thing is just like Santa Clause, only for adults. You know how it goes. When you're little, your parents drill it into your heads that if you don't behave Santa won't give you your presents at the end of the year? Then you grow up some and realize they were actually just trying to get you to shut up and behave all year? Its the same thing, only instead of being good for one year, its your entire life, and instead of getting presents, you get into Heaven. I'm not sure if anyone else has ever thought of that, but in case you haven't, well now you have. In a way, I also feel like its nothing more than a security blanket for adults. Or a way to force themselves into behaving. Just like kids closer to Christmas will actually stop and think, "I have to be good, or else Santa won't bring me that new toy." Its just a way to feel comfortable, and to keep themselves on the right track. Sometimes its taken too far, but sometimes people get just far too caught up in beliefs. As for life being a bitch; it is one. Want to know why? Because if it were easy, it'd be a slut, and it still wouldn't be easy because then there'd be STD's. Life is never going to be easy, and honestly, its a good thing. Yeah, sometimes its a lot harder than it needs to be, but look, it always turns around. When life knocks you down, you get back up and yell, "You throw like a little bitch!" Have you ever noticed that when your life is going good, you look back at a bad time and then suddenly feel accomplished with yourself? That's because you realize that the challenges do make you stronger, and had they not happened, you may not be where you are today. Life is hard, but you can either let it beat you down, or ride its ass and enjoy it the best you can. You can't take the good without the bad, because eventually you'll start to take it all for granted, and soon enough, you won't even be happy with the good stuff. Honestly, if its up to me, I say don't waste your time wondering if there's a God. If you do believe in one, that's great, but don't ever let "God" stop you from doing something you want to do that is a "sin", like sex before marriage, or homosexuality. It doesn't really matter. Live your life the way you want to, and as long as you're not killing someone, or committing some other crime, do not worry about it for a second. Life is what you make it, and you know what? If you spend your entire life, worrying about the after life, you're really not living. "The art of dying is my life to live", all that means is to live your life and live it well. So, honestly, just to recap. I feel the Devil is a lie, God probably doesn't exist, and life is a bitch, but it gets easier from time to time. Some people can't handle that, knowing that they have to just count on other humans for support. I was listening to the Falling In Reverse song, "Good Girls Bad Guys" and began pondering Ronnie's question. "Why do good girls like bad guys?"
For the most part, I don't know. Maybe its because not all "good girls" are really all that good, others maybe just like the "edge" that rebels have, and others maybe just want to feel the danger without really doing anything dangerous. Some people can act like they're a totally different person if they're involved with someone who's had a rougher past. That's stupid, I know, but some people feel like they're "living on the edge" if they get involved with anyone that's not as innocent as them. However, when it comes to Ronnie Radke, at least for his fans, that's a whole different story. He's a rock star, and people hear the word "rock star" and automatically swoon. Besides that, I honestly do not feel like Ronnie is a bad guy. From what I've seen in interviews, and posts on Twitter, he's a good guy, with a rough past. He's living the dream now, but he had to go through hell and back, on various levels to reach it and fully appreciate it. Basically, to answer Ronnie's question: People are weird. That's my response to a lot of things, just because it works. If you have any questions, or topics you'd like me to talk about please leave a comment below, and I will talk about it here on the site, as soon as possible! Recently, there has been a screenshot from an interview with Jack and Alex from All Time Low swirling around the internet, where Alex said nobody likes Blood On The Dance Floor. I have yet to see the actual interview, but I've seen the screenshot a lot now.
The one I just saw moments ago was edited, with a caption saying "SGTC doesn't give a fuck, and ATL needs to get a life." Um..if you don't care what they said, why are you addressing what they said? I love both All Time Low and Blood On The Dance Floor, and honestly, I'm certain they were JOKING. I know enough about All Time Low to know that combined, they don't have a single mean bone in their bodies, and face it, BOTDF DOES have a lot of haters, due to the fact that they sing about highly controversial stuff. My thing is, if someone said something down right hateful, why bother addressing it? People complain that there's too much hate in this world, but when someone says something bad, their immediate reaction is to retaliate with more hate. Do people not realize that if you ignore it, there'd be less hate in the world? It'll always be around, but some people actually only say things to rile others up. It sounds ridiculous, but its true. People are fucked up creatures, and their logic is often escewed. Ignore the hate, there's a time and a place to retaliate. That rhyme was unintentional. You know, people should really think before they open their mouths sometimes. I'm sure many of you have heard about this by now, but a rumor came out yesterday that Ronnie Radke of Falling In Reverse was arrested for a second time this week. If you haven't heard about that, stop reading this, and go to 'The Venom' right now, and go read the article about that. You can't miss it, its called 'Ronnie Radke Rumors'. Even if you didn't read it, that's okay, this won't be totally confusing like most articles I write that reference other articles.
People sometimes start rumors on accident, and that's one thing, but to go out of your way to make it look totally legitimate is just fucked up. I have no other way to explain it except for fucked up. I mean, honestly, rumors happen. It takes one person stating their opinion, or thoughts on a situation, and only one person hearing it wrong, and believing its true. It becomes a whole big game of Telephone, and eventually you get a combination you never expected. This however, was not a game of Telephone, it was just a waste of someone's time! I don't get why someone would put so much time and effort into a rumor to not only forage a fact police report, but put together an article all about it. Do they realize that had an evidence of such things been found, they could have ruined everything Ronnie has done for himself in the past year? Anyone could start a rumor, that's why you need to watch your mouth (or fingers, as the case may be). Hell, I've got a few thoughts about Ronnie going to prison the first time that I've only said to my mom and my best friend because it could ruin one person's life, if it ever got out. There's the difference between me, and some people: I know when to keep my mouth shut. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about why I want to do this. Why I love having a steadily growing, and very active Facebook page, and a website that's getting more and more recognition by the day. Its a hard question to answer, honestly. The first thing that came to my mind was simply, "Because its fun."
This is fun for me. It is technically a career choice, but it is fun too. Nobody ever said your career couldn't be fun. That obviously reverts back to all the rock stars we all look up to. I'm sure someone just came to your mind as soon as I said it. My thing is, in this industry, it actually is a challenge to be unique. There's always going to be at least one other magazine or website reporting the exact same thing you do, or another page sharing the exact same picture. You have to find your own ways to stand out. I've been getting a lot of comments lately here on Immortal Music saying that I have my own unique style of writing, and a great view on things. I don't get how I'm unique, but I don't care, I like that someone else sees what I can not, and that they like it. I started thinking about it a lot, and I don't want to just post news, interviews, and reviews. I want to post things can relate to. When I've done it in the past, people have always responded so well to it. It honestly makes sense to do this, since I am always stressing how much people can relate to music, and how much I admire musicians. I heard someone once say that anyone can be a rock star, even if its not in the way you expect. That inspired me so much. What that meant was not to be out in front of thousands, singing your heart out, and then going back into the studio to spill your heart out some more. It means to be confident in whatever you do, work hard for it, and be proud of it. Because of that, I decided why not take my website and do everything I possibly can with it. We only have one life to live, so why not make it rock? Fuck 'YOLO', its only acceptable if Suicide Silence is the one that uses it. I'm going by the beautiful words spoken by Art Of Dying. "The art of dying is my life to live." I have no idea who said the quote, but they explained to me that the quote means live your live, and live it well. Making the most out of your life is the art of dying, because then when you're looking back at our life, you can say, "Wow, I can't believe I did all those things." instead of, "I wish I would have done all those things." I'm here to make a difference, and spread the word of music. Even if I only reach one person, at least I reached someone. If you've been on Music = Life for a while, you probably know how I feel about religion. ESPECIALLY CHRISTIANITY. They're
generally hypocritical and judgmental, and they especially seem to judge those who listen to rock music. I know a few people on the page that have said their parents would shoot them if they ever caught them listening to bands like Asking Alexandria and Papa Roach. Just because a song cusses, or talks about sex, or the members are pierced and tattooed doesn't mean its Satan worshiping music! Fuck, you know how many rockstars will say prayers before their shows, then run on stage and scream, "What's up, motherfuckers?!" I've heard of several. If that's not enough, listen to the lyrics to so many songs! Some parents go so far as to say their kids can ONLY listen to Christian music, and what meaning do those songs have? They all seem to only have one: Praise the lord. Then you get the music I listen to that is relatable. Look at A Day To Remember, "All I want is a place to call my own, to mend the hearts of everyone that feels alone. You know to keep your hopes up high, and your head down low." That song is more relatable in just 2 lines then most hymes are in the entire song! Everyone wants a place to call their own, most people want to help someone feel like they're not alone, AND it tells you to keep your hopes up, but your head down so you have something to dream about, but you're not gonna get hurt. I'd rather have a kid listening to that instead of a song that says, "I give my life to you." or some shit like that. Rockstars do look rebelious, and sometimes act it, and I'll admit aren't ALWAYS the best role models, but even the ones that drink and party almost nonstop admit that they're bad influences, and tell their fans, "Do not be like us." They sing about real stuff, from their heart, not about something that may not even exist. I don't even get how people come up with the delusions that listening to rock music automatically means you worship the devil. I don't actually know of a single band that worships the devil! I'm sure there are some out there, but honestly, does it really matter? If you can't prove that your God exists, how are you going to prove that the Devil exists. I like what Falling In Reverse says in "Sink Or Swim", "What if the devil was a lie? What if God did not exist? So, with all due respect, tell me what is death? If life is just a bitch?" Music is real. It makes sense, and it can make you think! The bible is just bullshit to me, its nothing more than a book if you ask me! I believe that Jesus was a real person, but who's to say he wasn't just like Criss Angel, and a really good illusionist? Or like Chuck Norris and people just saw him do a few cool things and then idolized him like a God? Who says in three thousand years people won't worship Chuck Norris and believe that the Lord Of The Rings books were real? There is no proof that God exists, or that he hates all the things Christians believe he does. Fuck, for all we know God could exist, and hang out with the Rev, Paul Gray, and all the other late rock legends up in Heaven with piercings and tattoos! Nobody knows for sure, nobody will know for sure, so why won't people just accept that everyone is different and shut the fuck up about it! Music is everything to me and millions of other people out there. Its a way to look into someone's soul, so honestly, if you're saying rock music is bad, you're judging someone's soul. I'm pretty certain the Bible says that you're not supposed to do that, and only God is supposed to judge people. That's a sin, and I'm gonna stick to my rock music, while worshipping my pierced and tattooed rock stars that cuss worse than saliors. They speak the truth, not preach stuff from an anicent fairy tale. (I do not mean to offend anyone, this is ust my opinion, and I feel strongly about it.) |
