Band merch. This is something most music lovers love, and practically live in. I am no different there, and actually have way too much of it. Yet, somehow I keep getting more. I have to show my love for bands, I suppose as most of my wardrobe is band merch. The parts that aren't band merch are humorous, music related of some sort, or barely ever worn. When you look in my closet, you basically see a black hole with specks of color -because I only wear black basically. Much like everyone else, right? I think most people these days live in black. I rarely see anyone in color anymore, unless its in the details of the design. I have no idea why this is, but it happens and this is about the majority of my wardrobe. See? Now you probably saw that and automatically thought something along the lines of, "Holy shit, that's a lot of merch." If so, then you are absolutely correct, it is a lot. When I laid it all out, I actually had no clue how much was actually there, so I took the time to basically take inventory of it all. I then discovered there's 72 pieces in total, and all but one piece is pictured here. I actually decided to break it down to see how much I had for each band, which you can see later on. But first, here's the main point of this blog. Everyone has their favorite articles of clothing, and here I have pulled out some of my favorite pieces of band merch to talk about. I want to see what your favorites are too! Please be sure to show me over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. I got this on January 10, 2015, which was the first time I got to see Papa Roach after missing them several times. I saw it and instantly needed it. Its extremely comfortable, and it goes back and forth with me to work every day. Which is why it wasn't included in the picture of all the merch together...when I took that, it was sitting in the back room of my work. Oops. Its much loved, and I don't see that changing at all. I got this tank top the same night, and frankly, I wear it a lot. Ironic, right? Get a tank top and a jacket in the same night. Welcome to Florida, ladies and gentlemen. Anyways, I also have a t-shirt that matches this (See if you can spot it in the picture of it all!) that has red where the purple is. I got that at Fort Rock, just a few months later. I don't wear that one as much though, the tank top is cooler. Quite literally, actually. Ah, the Boner shirt. Ignore the fact that this is an old picture, clearly in an old house. I couldn't seem to get a good picture of it, so I just used the one I took when I got it. I have many good memories connecting to this shirt, as I get funny looks every time I wear it in public. That amuses me greatly, but there's also a running joke about this shirt. This was actually a Christmas present from a friend of mine, and from then on out, we joked that he gave me a boner for Christmas. Its a bit messed up really, but its a hilarious shirt and it always makes someone smile when I wear it. It came from Glamour Kills/ Jagk, the clothing line of Jack Barakat. He frankly needs to make more of these, I would like another one in a different color because I like it that much. Now this one, I don't wear very often. Its not really my style, but I had to have something in memory of this night and this was the best design they had. Its very comfortable though! I got this at the acoustic show Zach Myers of Shinedown and Justin Moore of Ingram Hill did and that night is something I will never forget. Zach and Justin put on a two hour performance, of them doing whatever they wanted. They were just two friends playing music just for the fun of it. It was the most pure thing I think I've ever seen, and it was just incredible. To add to that, I sat down and interviewed the two of them together, and it ended up being sheer luck. I noticed the next day that the email I thought I sent, requesting the interview, was in my drafts. I had mentioned the interview to their tour manager, thinking I sent it and just never got a reply, and apparently there was one he had meant to answer but forgot to. So, he told me to just go talk to Zach, and the interview ended up happening. Then, what actually ended up being a game changer -two days later Shinedown shared my article about the night. I cannot thank them enough for that, because after they did that, I've gotten consistent views. That didn't happen before, so I know it was because they shared what I wrote. I seriously will be forever grateful to Shinedown for that. All of that is connected to this shirt, and therefor, while I rarely wear it, its a favorite. Its probably one of the most meaningful ones I have. This tank top came from the Spring Fever tour in 2013, and I actually bought it for two reasons. 1) I really liked the design, and had already seen it thanks to the internet. 2) This was the first show I actually wore a band shirt to in a very long time, and it was hot as fuck. Black in the Florida sun isn't always nice. So, I bought it and automatically changed into it because it was a tank top and not black. As gross as this may be, I didn't take it off for two days after that. I definitely slept in it after the show, and the next night as well. Its extremely comfortable and I just love it for that really! Its definitely my most worn Pierce The Veil shirt. (Don't ask what my most worn piece of merch is over all, because frankly, I don't have a damn clue.) I just love this one because its from my favorite MCR song, "Famous Last Words", and happens to be my favorite line. I don't have anything really to say about that, except it speaks to me on a personal level. At some point, I will probably explain, but for now, I'm just going to leave ti at that. I'm perfectly fine trying to do things on my own. It doesn't always work, but its worth trying. This is probably the only non-black shirt I wear frequently, now that I think of it. I absolutely love this shirt because it references two All Time Low songs in one. "A Love Like War" and "Time Bomb." I didn't notice the Time Bomb reference until after I got it home, actually. I saw the bomb as a record with a broken heart inside, until I got it home and saw what it was for real. I just liked it even more after that. This Miss May I shirt is freaking adorable, and it was a birthday present from a friend a couple years back. I really just like it because its adorable, and actually didn't want to buy it for myself because I don't actively listen to Miss May I. I do every now and then, but not over all, so I didn't want to buy this for myself. I love it none the less, and do wear it a lot.
So now, that brings me to the end of the favorites. Well, the favorites I chose before I got it all together, anyways. There's some other pieces that I almost included but decided not to. As I was gathering, a friend asked me how many of those were from concerts. There's 19 that I have personally gotten from concerts over the years. One however, I got at a thrift store and then later found out it actually was being sold at Skillet concerts for $25 -I paid .25c. Most of the rest came from Hot Topic, though one came from Spencer's Gifts, one was a Hustler Club shirt a friend outgrew, and the Boner shirt obviously is a Glamour Kills product. Just in case anyone was as curious as I was, as of July 13, 2015, this is the 'inventory' of every article of band merch I own. 72 tops in total, 19 are from concerts. Over all I have; 4 Papa Roach, 4 My Chemical Romance, 5 Black Veil Brides, 17 All Time Low, 8 Pierce The Veil, 3 Remedy X, 4 Mayday Parade, 2 A Day To Remember, 3 Escape The Fate, 3 Asking Alexandria, 2 Shinedown, 2 Sleeping With Sirens, 2 Falling In Reverse, and then one from all of the following bands; The Pretty Reckless, Bring Me The Horizon, As It Is, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Slipknot, Three Days Grace, Islander, Miss May I, Fall Out Boy, Adelita's Way, Within Reason, Of Mice And Men, We Are Harlot, Skillet, Bargain Bin Heroes, and Sunshine And Bullets. Concert shirts: 4 Papa Roach, 2 Shinedown (Well, one is Zach Myers), Then one from Adelita's Way, Within Reason, The Pretty Reckless, Slipknot, As It Is, Three Days Grace, Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil and All Time Low. ...And the crazy thing is my collection is forever growing. So, tell me, how much band merch do you have? Also what are your favorite pieces and why? Reminder that you can let me know over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! I'm curious to see what all you guys have collected. Comments are closed.
