Dear Immortal Music fans,
As some of you may remember, I applied to the Alternative Press Music Awards. Today I received an email stating that they cannot give me a pass for it. This is actually the first rejection email, I have ever gotten. Normally, when rejections are decided, they just never say another word to you. So, I actually am grateful that they chose to say something rather than just never respond again.
I actually am not slightly surprised that I didn't get this pass. I applied just before Easter of this year, and did hear back once. A few weeks passed and I decided to check in again, just to see where I stood with them. The lady responded with a question.
"And which outlet is this for?'
Admittedly, I found this slightly laughable, and slightly insulting all at once because they were the ones who sent me the form to request a pass in the first place. Being a huge event, and one that was presented to me, I applied. After being forgotten, I felt it was safe to assume I was not getting to go to the APMAs.
My assumption was correct, but come to find out I wasn't exactly forgotten. Come to find out, they had over 300 applications for the APMAs, and just had a lot to work with. I'm not entirely surprised by this, but at the same time the number did sound like a lot to me.
I really just wanted to write this to say thank you to AP for actually being considerate, and wanted to ask something of you guys out there.
Please cross your fingers, toes, and whatever else you feel like crossing -except your eyes, please don't do that. Its bad for your eyes, and you won't be able to read the rest of this. Cross things and send good vibes because another big event I applied to might actually be possible. Whilst at Warped tour actually, I got an email basically stating that I got past the first level of consideration for the Rock Allegiance festival.
This is a massive deal, and frankly, I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up for this. I've never gotten an email like that one that didn't ultimately end up going through, but since it is across the country, there is a chance that I will not get it. I keep trying to remind myself of that, but given what I just said, that's actually quite the challenge for me.
Not to mention, getting this, gives me the chance to interview a couple of my favorites, such as Adam Gontier, or any member of Papa Roach. There's also possibility there for Five Finger Death Punch, Rob Zombie, Korn, Bring The Horizon, Art Of Dying, Nothing More and several more. Obviously, none of these are guaranteed, even if the pass is granted, but all could be possible. Plausible, no, but possible, maybe.
This festival is pretty damn close to my dream concert lineup, so obviously I'm excited and wanted to talk about it. I have a plan to try to do reviews for many of the artists involved with the Rock Allegiance festival, so stay tuned for that! I won't know until probably late September if I get to go, but I can promise that you will know about it as soon as I know.
Meanwhile, I am trying to get back into the swing of posting more content again, so keep checking back for all of it!
