Lately, I've been thinking a lot about why I want to do this. Why I love having a steadily growing, and very active Facebook page, and a website that's getting more and more recognition by the day. Its a hard question to answer, honestly. The first thing that came to my mind was simply, "Because its fun."
This is fun for me. It is technically a career choice, but it is fun too. Nobody ever said your career couldn't be fun. That obviously reverts back to all the rock stars we all look up to. I'm sure someone just came to your mind as soon as I said it. My thing is, in this industry, it actually is a challenge to be unique. There's always going to be at least one other magazine or website reporting the exact same thing you do, or another page sharing the exact same picture. You have to find your own ways to stand out. I've been getting a lot of comments lately here on Immortal Music saying that I have my own unique style of writing, and a great view on things. I don't get how I'm unique, but I don't care, I like that someone else sees what I can not, and that they like it. I started thinking about it a lot, and I don't want to just post news, interviews, and reviews. I want to post things can relate to. When I've done it in the past, people have always responded so well to it. It honestly makes sense to do this, since I am always stressing how much people can relate to music, and how much I admire musicians. I heard someone once say that anyone can be a rock star, even if its not in the way you expect. That inspired me so much. What that meant was not to be out in front of thousands, singing your heart out, and then going back into the studio to spill your heart out some more. It means to be confident in whatever you do, work hard for it, and be proud of it. Because of that, I decided why not take my website and do everything I possibly can with it. We only have one life to live, so why not make it rock? Fuck 'YOLO', its only acceptable if Suicide Silence is the one that uses it. I'm going by the beautiful words spoken by Art Of Dying. "The art of dying is my life to live." I have no idea who said the quote, but they explained to me that the quote means live your live, and live it well. Making the most out of your life is the art of dying, because then when you're looking back at our life, you can say, "Wow, I can't believe I did all those things." instead of, "I wish I would have done all those things." I'm here to make a difference, and spread the word of music. Even if I only reach one person, at least I reached someone.
