So here it is, the first interview with an incredible band that is destined to go far in the music business. 1. What inspired you to cover Jealous by Nick Jonas and The Heart Wants What it Wants by Selena Gomez? As a band in a whole Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez weren't particularly big influences of ours, obviously of different genres to ours, both were brought up in a discussion to go pop/top-40 and try to surprise people with something other than a Taylor Swift cover. 2. Are there any other songs out there you would like to cover? Of course, cover songs are a blast, especially when recording, and it's a great way to see a different side to a song. But we have yet to discuss what we will do for the next one. 3. Who is your main songwriter and where do you find your inspiration? Everyone has contributed ideas, so it's hard to necessarily choose one songwriter. There is definitely more than 1 songwriter in this band, so we try to fit everything we can from everybody involved in the project when possible. It's creative madness. Inspiration for our ideas generally come from topics we want to write about, and the drive we all have to create music. 4. What's the song writing process like for you guys? It's pretty open really. Someone can come in with a cool sounding progression, or song skeleton, and we all kinda try to evolve something out of it. We constantly bounce ideas off each other, and talk about what we want topic wise for the lyrics. Other than that we just go with the flow mostly. 5. Out of all your favorite songs, which are your favorites and why? Scott Mcavoy (Vocalist)-"Tomorrow", it is a more personal song about the loss of my brother. James Rosewall (Vocalist)-"Destiny"- Because of its technical breakdowns and intense choruses. Scott Garrison (Guitarist)-"Burning Bridges", because it's a blast to play. Kyle Lighting (Guitarist)-"Burning bridges", it's aggressive and there's a lot going on. It's one that we've always struggled with what it meant to us, but it quickly became a favorite. Foli Creppy (Drummer)-"Destiny", it's so in your face and inspirational. The chorus is upbeat and fun and the song overall makes you open your eyes to realize what you really are capable of. 6. How would you describe your music to those who have never heard you before? Hard hitting while staying bouncy and catchy. 7. What is your dream concert lineup both to see and take part in? Haha, that's a hard one because we all come from different musical backgrounds. It would definitely be an interesting line-up for sure. We all listen to anything from Post-Hardcore and Metal to Blues, Rock, Punk, Indie, and even Rap at times. But in High&Mighty's sake, it would be amazing to play any gig for people who enjoy our music, regardless of who we are playing with. Just as long as it's a damn good time and everyone has fun. 8. Name something you listen to that nobody would ever expect? Scott Mcavoy(Vocalist)- I Like classical music, lol... from like the 50's. James Rosewall(Vocalist)- Justin Beiber...Haters gonna hate. Scott Garrison(Guitarist)- I am a long time fan of Modest Mouse, and the Pixies. In an alternate universe I play in a 90's indie grunge rock band... Kyle Lighting(Guitarist)-Death Grips Foli Creppy(Drummer)- Brantley Gilbert 9. Outside of music, what do you do? Scott Mcavoy- I am a father and family man. James Rosewall- I like to snowboard, and relax. Scott Garrison- I am a Graphic Designer, and...I guess that's it. Kyle Lighting- Well for my job I'm a head cook.. and I go to PSU where I'm studying nerdy things like cryptography and networking. Foli Creppy- Outside of music I'm a total outdoors junkie always looking for the next cool spot to explore 10. Where did you come up with your band name? James, Vocalist Scott, and Foli were debating names in Foli's basement when it popped up. Everyone thought it was good so it just stuck. 11. What was the recording process like for you guys? Music went smoothly until the singers ruined it in the vocal booth. Lol. We definitely banged out a ton in a short amount of time, so I guess it was organized chaos in a way. Was it anything like you expected it to be? Haha, it was not. I mean it was a great experience with great people, but once you are in the studio you really start to realize the work it takes. So naturally with the amount we tried to get done, we really pushed ourselves to get what we could out of it. 12. Is there anything you would like to add before we go? Just stay positive, life is great, and always follow your dreams. They left it on the best note possible. Stay positive and follow your dreams. Don't miss out on this awesome band.
