Firestarter is a pop punk band from Albany, NY and Immortal Music got to review their Forget The Past EP and do this interview. See what they have to say about influences, dream lineups, and alien abductions!
1. How would you explain your music to those who have never heard it before? Upbeat, fast and catchy pop-punk in the veins of blink-182, New Found Glory, and The Starting Line. 2. What would your dream concert lineup be? (Both to see as a fan, and to take part in) Our dream line-up for a show as a fan or a band taking part in it would be The Starting Line, Saosin, Armor For Sleep, and Boys Nights Out. All bands we love and would love to see live again. 3. Who / what have been influences on your music and you in general? Early 2000's Drive Thru Records, Victory Records bands, and The Tony Hawk Pro Skater soundtracks. 4. Name something that you listen to that nobody would ever expect. Lot's of Linkin Park and 90's pop music. 5. Which of your songs are your favorites and least favorites? (And why?) Our favorite song of ours would have to be "Who You Used To Be" from Forget The Past. It's a fun song and we have a blast playing it live. To ask us what our least favorite is difficult as we don't dislike any of our songs and we enjoy playing all of them. 6. Where in the world do you dream of performing? Definitely on the top of the list would be the United Kingdom and Australia. Both of those places have crazy sights and cultures and would be one crazy experience. 7. Have you had any interesting tour experiences yet? We've had way too many to list but an Alien abducted our trailer in New Mexico once, that was cool. 8. What song do you feel describes you as a person and Firestarter as a band? (This can be one by yourselves, or anyone else. That is up to you.) Left Coast Envy by The Starting Line hits the nail on the head for that. Just listen to it and you will understand. 9. How does it feel knowing that your music can inspire people in their every day lives? Honestly, it's one of the coolest feelings in the world knowing that we aren't alone in what we experience and someone besides ourselves is relating to our music and it's message. 10. Is there anyone you wish to collaborate with one day? Brian Mcternan, Mark Hoppus, Jerry Finn (RIP), and Cameron Webb would all be producers we'd love to collaborate with. 11. Is there anything you would like to add before we go? Keep an eye out for new music on the horizon from our camp. Big thanks to Firestarter for doing this interview! High & Mighty is a new post-hardcore band from Allentown, PA and they are ones you surely do not want to pass up. Immortal Music is honored to say that this was their first ever interview, and they allowed us to review their entire discography. You can check that out here, and get their debut EP now!
So here it is, the first interview with an incredible band that is destined to go far in the music business. 1. What inspired you to cover Jealous by Nick Jonas and The Heart Wants What it Wants by Selena Gomez? As a band in a whole Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez weren't particularly big influences of ours, obviously of different genres to ours, both were brought up in a discussion to go pop/top-40 and try to surprise people with something other than a Taylor Swift cover. 2. Are there any other songs out there you would like to cover? Of course, cover songs are a blast, especially when recording, and it's a great way to see a different side to a song. But we have yet to discuss what we will do for the next one. 3. Who is your main songwriter and where do you find your inspiration? Everyone has contributed ideas, so it's hard to necessarily choose one songwriter. There is definitely more than 1 songwriter in this band, so we try to fit everything we can from everybody involved in the project when possible. It's creative madness. Inspiration for our ideas generally come from topics we want to write about, and the drive we all have to create music. 4. What's the song writing process like for you guys? It's pretty open really. Someone can come in with a cool sounding progression, or song skeleton, and we all kinda try to evolve something out of it. We constantly bounce ideas off each other, and talk about what we want topic wise for the lyrics. Other than that we just go with the flow mostly. 5. Out of all your favorite songs, which are your favorites and why? Scott Mcavoy (Vocalist)-"Tomorrow", it is a more personal song about the loss of my brother. James Rosewall (Vocalist)-"Destiny"- Because of its technical breakdowns and intense choruses. Scott Garrison (Guitarist)-"Burning Bridges", because it's a blast to play. Kyle Lighting (Guitarist)-"Burning bridges", it's aggressive and there's a lot going on. It's one that we've always struggled with what it meant to us, but it quickly became a favorite. Foli Creppy (Drummer)-"Destiny", it's so in your face and inspirational. The chorus is upbeat and fun and the song overall makes you open your eyes to realize what you really are capable of. 6. How would you describe your music to those who have never heard you before? Hard hitting while staying bouncy and catchy. 7. What is your dream concert lineup both to see and take part in? Haha, that's a hard one because we all come from different musical backgrounds. It would definitely be an interesting line-up for sure. We all listen to anything from Post-Hardcore and Metal to Blues, Rock, Punk, Indie, and even Rap at times. But in High&Mighty's sake, it would be amazing to play any gig for people who enjoy our music, regardless of who we are playing with. Just as long as it's a damn good time and everyone has fun. 8. Name something you listen to that nobody would ever expect? Scott Mcavoy(Vocalist)- I Like classical music, lol... from like the 50's. James Rosewall(Vocalist)- Justin Beiber...Haters gonna hate. Scott Garrison(Guitarist)- I am a long time fan of Modest Mouse, and the Pixies. In an alternate universe I play in a 90's indie grunge rock band... Kyle Lighting(Guitarist)-Death Grips Foli Creppy(Drummer)- Brantley Gilbert 9. Outside of music, what do you do? Scott Mcavoy- I am a father and family man. James Rosewall- I like to snowboard, and relax. Scott Garrison- I am a Graphic Designer, and...I guess that's it. Kyle Lighting- Well for my job I'm a head cook.. and I go to PSU where I'm studying nerdy things like cryptography and networking. Foli Creppy- Outside of music I'm a total outdoors junkie always looking for the next cool spot to explore 10. Where did you come up with your band name? James, Vocalist Scott, and Foli were debating names in Foli's basement when it popped up. Everyone thought it was good so it just stuck. 11. What was the recording process like for you guys? Music went smoothly until the singers ruined it in the vocal booth. Lol. We definitely banged out a ton in a short amount of time, so I guess it was organized chaos in a way. Was it anything like you expected it to be? Haha, it was not. I mean it was a great experience with great people, but once you are in the studio you really start to realize the work it takes. So naturally with the amount we tried to get done, we really pushed ourselves to get what we could out of it. 12. Is there anything you would like to add before we go? Just stay positive, life is great, and always follow your dreams. They left it on the best note possible. Stay positive and follow your dreams. Don't miss out on this awesome band. Be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter, their website, Instagram, YouTube and Google Plus. Stealing Eden is a hard rock band from Vancouver, BC, and this interview was rather special to Immortal Music as they were one of the first bands we ever found via the internet. You might not know who they are now, but passing over them would be a massive mistake. They are incredibly underrated and talented, and you will not be disappointed.
Their guitarist Maximus sat down and answered some questions for Immortal Music, and here is what all he had to say. -What can fans expect from Stealing Eden in the near future? We are currently demoing upwards of 25 songs for an upcoming album. No release date planned but shooting for summer sometime. -How do you think the music writing process will differ now than it previously did for you? I think it will be pretty much the same. Most of the last record was written sitting in front of my computer, pressing record and coming up with some ideas then sending it off to the guys and chipping away at the songs from there. Dave writing lyrics and then jamming the songs out to see if they feel good. -Name something you listen to that nobody would expect you to. I'm listening to Cryptopsy right now. -Out of all your songs, which are your favorite and least favorites? That's a tough one. I think my least favorite is Calling Out. -What is your dream concert lineup (both to see and be part of) This might not make sense but probably The Beatles, Led Zeppelin Randy Roads era, Ozzy, Pantera, Original Alice In Chains, Nirvana, Danzig, Hatebreed, White Zombie, Life Of Agony, Snot. -What's your favorite venue (that you have played)? And why? Richards On Richards in Vancouver. Awesome sound and a huge room. -How would you describe your music to someone that has never heard it? Hard rock with that extra something -What song do you wish you had written, but really just enjoy? I dig the Nothing But Thieves song Graveyard Whistling. -What would you be doing if you were not a musician? I use to do martial arts and played hockey, maybe one of those. -Besides music, what do you do in your spare time? Just normal stuff like watch movies and go to concerts -Is there anything you would like to add before we go? #stealingeden2015 Be on the look out for a brand new album from Stealing Eden, and meanwhile be sure to check them out on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and iTunes. The End At The Beginning is a very talented, up and coming band from Bolonga, Italy and they were kind enough to take the time to answer some interview questions from Immortal Music. The offered a lot of insight to some of the songs on their album, Appearances and introduced more of the world to their music. To learn more, please read on. Also remember that everything said is exactly what the bands said -Immortal Music does not change anything. We simply throw it together, and let the artists speak for themselves.
1. What inspired your band name, "The End At The Beginning?" And what does the name mean to you? Because sounded so funny to hear from italian people ahahah! Joking aside, we needed a name for our very first show and at two days from the show we didn't have any name yet. So, we thought to combine some names and we particularly liked this one just because represented the circularity of life. 2. Out of all our songs, which ones are your favorites and least favorites? We really like to play live "Try To Fall, Learn To Fly" and "The Vicious Cycle" for the meaning and for the energy of the songs, people like them a lot. We don't have a particular song which we prefer, because each song have a meaning for us, and all of them have something great inside. 3. Where in the world do you dream of playing? The world is the place where we dream to play, touching every single country and town. We like to see different faces and stories from the kids, and having a good time with them in the aftershow. It's what we like to do. 4. What would be your dream concert lineup (to take part in)? I think that most of all the bands would like to open the live show for Parkway Drive, as we do, but there are so many cool bands, even here in Italy, we would like to play with. In particular we are very proud to share the stage with the italian band Hopes Die Last in February, because they are one of the greatest pride for our country in the world. Being part of one of their concerts it means a lot to us. 5. Name something you listen to that nobody would ever expect. We are very open minded people, most of all talking about music. Some of us grew up with classical music and indie rock/alternative music, and maybe this is strange to hear yet. We can name this: "Lorenzo have listened to Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus since yesterday". And this is absolutely true. 6. What inspired the song, "Try To Fall, Learn to Fly"? The song talks about people who had everything easily and without fighting to have it, and when the situations change discovering difficulties and struggles they just take a step back to remain in their protective shell. The message is directed to these people, they have to take the distances from certainties, eases and privileges and starting to live for real, because a life without highs and lows is not worth being lived. 7. What have been some of the best and worst places you have performed at so far? The best place is for sure the ZR in Bologna, it's a quite big space with a huge sound system and some very cool lights. We released our album right there opening for Being As An Ocean/Hundredth/Counterparts/Polar European tour, and that was a really great show. The worst place was actually a closed space in Rioveggio, in the Apennines. There was a really bad sound and really small space where to play...but we had fun anyway. 8. What do you do that is not music related? Well, Nicola works as a salesman in a company, Filippo and Andrea are both students at Bologna University, Lorenzo is a student too and a goalkeeper trainer, and Alessandro has a job in an electronics store. We have to find a way to finance this band, right? 9. How would you describe your music to those who have never heard you before? Our music it's good for insane people. We scream, we shred, we do shitty moves on the stage and nobody pay us for it. But it's better than what it seems, believe me. 10. What inspired you to sing in English, rather than Italian (Since you are an Italian band)? We wanted to communicate something to people who listen to us, and the Italian it's not the right language. It's not musical at all for the genre and it's limiting, because nobody in the world talk Italian. 11. Is there anything you would like to add? Of course! Thank you so much for being so patient and for the support showed in this interview and in the review. That means so much to us. If anybody want to support us or show us some love, help us buying our merch or leave a comment, photo, whethever you want on our pages. Thank you so much again. Thank you very much to The End At The Beginning for everything! Hopefully one day you will grace the entire world with your presence in person. Meanwhile, be sure to check out their debut album Appearances, and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Seether is a very well established alternative metal band from Pretoria, South Africa. As of January 9, 2015, the band is touring across the US on a co-headlining tour with Papa Roach! Throughout their career, they have released some incredible works of art, and have played for hundreds of thousands of people world wide. They never cease to amaze, and it just so happens that their wonderful drummer, John Humphrey took the time to sit down and answer some questions for Immortal Music. He had a lot to say regarding current releases, musical interests, aspirations and more. Read on to learn what all he had to say!
1. Out of all your songs, which are your favorites and least favorites? JOHN: Don't really have any least favs. There are songs we have been playing for over 10 years but, if a fan has been waiting 2 years to see you, live... you can't go through the motions, when performing. That’s not really fair to them. But, my favs, right now, would have to be some of the new ones... "My Disaster", "Save Today", or 'Crash". 3. Speaking of, what inspired the video for "Same Damn Life"? It looked like you had a lot of fun filming that video. JOHN: Oh Yeah. We spent 3 1/2 to 4 hours in make-up for that video. REAL Hollywood style make-up. It was a blast! I think the original idea was to have the band perform, as ourselves, in a nursing home.. But, we thought it would be hilarious to make us look like we were also IN the nursing home. Also, we aren't making fun of old folks. Getting older is part of life... and it should be a celebration!! 4. From Jack Toresen; What sort of plans do you have for the future? JOHN: Well, for this year... more touring. Australia, Japan (hopefully) and South America. This will be our first time to play in South America. 5. Name something you listen to that nobody would expect you to? JOHN: Oh man, I have several guilty pleasures. I enjoy some old school blues, such as: Blind Lemon Jefferson and Robert Johnson. That music is part of American History. I enjoy some old school pop, as well. I've been known to listen to some "Hall and Oates" and "Journey" from time to time. 6. How do you deal with pre-stage nerves? (If you even still get them at this point.) JOHN: Oh yeah, even after all these years... I still get the "butterflies"! As a drummer, performing can be quite physical. So I try to warm up and bit and that helps shake some of the nerves. 7. What would be your dream concert lineup to be a part of? JOHN: Love to play with the Foo Fighters. I think we'd be a good fit. 8. From Aaron Wolfe III; Who has been inspiration to you for each of your albums? JOHN: I generally, don't listen to "ROCK" music while recording an album. For inspiration, I, sometimes, listen to a lot of Beatles, around the time we are making an album... The way they crafted songs was just amazing. Not that we are anything like the Beatles... But, they schooled bands for years to come. 9. Where would you like to tour but have yet to? JOHN: I'm looking forward to South America. I also hope to do a proper tour of Japan. We did some USO shows there in 2010. They were on the US bases. We didn't actually play to a Japanese audience. Hope to go back there, one day, and do that. 10. From Donald Whitten; What are the best and worst places you've ever played? JOHN: We did an amazing Euro tour in 04 (w/ Evanescence). Performed in Rome and Greece. Played "Rock in Rio" in Lisbon. Also, performed at Madison Square Garden w/ Audioslave and Nickelback. Played some MASSIVE festivals in South Africa w/ Metallica. Great memories. You tend to forget the shit gigs :) 11. Which one of your songs describes you as a person and Seether as a band? JOHN: We, recently, covered our "namesake" song for SEETHER 2002-2013. Veruca Salt's "Can't Fight the (SEETHER)" I think that's what our band's attitude is about... in a sense. When we are a band, hitting on all cylinders...kicking it on stage... you can't fight us. No one can touch us! A little cheesy but, that's how I feel sometimes. No one does Seether better than Seether. 12. What is the weirdest, funniest thing that has happened on the road? JOHN: Recently, our bus was literally mobbed, in front of the venue, in Paris. It was like the Beatles or something. Pretty surreal. 13. What sort of advice would you give to aspiring artists? JOHN: Well, to be original. I think that's missing from a lot of "rock music" today. Everything is starting to sound similar, in a lot of ways. The ones that stand out, are the ones that are truly original. Find your style. Don't follow trends. 14. On a final note; can you sum up your entire musical career in just one word? JOHN: Interesting. The song John picked that perfectly describes them as a band could not have been more perfect. While the song might be totally unrelated to the band, any time it has been heard, Seether comes to mind. They definitely have had an interesting career, and its surely just going to get more interesting from here. Huge thanks to John for taking the time to answer our questions, and to their wonderful press person for all her assistance, patience and honesty. This has been a treat, and we hope to do another interview in the future! To keep up on Seether be sure to check out their official website, along with all their social media. That includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Also don't forget their official website!
At the 2014 Uproar Festival in Tampa, Florida, I got to sit down with Escape The Fate's very own Robert Ortiz and Kevin Thrasher. We talked about a lot of different things, from favorite songs to play live, possible tours involving Falling in Reverse, new music and more. Don't forget -you can catch Escape The Fate now through September 21 on the 2014 Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival. Be sure to like their Facebook, and follow them on Twitter, if you have yet to.
@KThrash , @Robertthelegend, @tjbell, @craigmabbitt, @_AlexTorres_ The Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival came back into town, and Immortal Music attended. There, I met up with David Koonce of Within Reason for a second time. Due to some weather mishaps, the interview ended up being done over email, but its still extremely interesting. It involves new music, videos, a radio station, and a snowman. Curious now? Keep reading to learn more.
1. Its been two years since we last spoke, how have you been and what have you been up to? We have had a lot going on. Most important is our first single "Enemy" has hit nationwide radio. We hope for it to break Top 40 on the Active Rock chart 2. How does it feel to be back on Uproar for you this year and how is it different this year than previous experiences on Uproar? Uproar is one of our favorite tours. Since we have done this before we knew what to expect when we got here and know what kind of show to put together. 3. Are you guys planning on releasing any new music or music videos for that matter, any time soon? "Here Comes The Light" will be our next single followed by "We'll Have It All". There will be videos for each. We plan on recording a new album next year 4. Are there any songs out there that you wish you had written that you didn't? Every songwriter pours a little bit of themselves into each song. From that perspective I don't think there is one out there. From a commercial perspective sometimes I wish I had the publishing deal on the theme song for "Friends". That gets play at least 6 times a day in syndication. Im sure its a nice royalty check. 5. What was it like playing at the Grammy's earlier this year? Its was amazing. It was really cool to be there, play and walk the red carpet. Not many artists get to see what its like to be at this industry's highest echelon for a night. It gives us something to shoot for. 6. What is something you've found yourself listening to a lot lately? I have been listening to a band from Baton Rouge named Startisan. We have played some shows with them. Great band 7. I've asked Chris this before, but I didn't ask you. Name something you listen to that nobody would expect you to listen to? Frank Sinatra 8. What would your dream concert lineup be? (To take part in.) 2 words: PINK FLOYD 9. What do you like to do in your down time while on the road? I co-own a film company based in Birmingham. So I have me iMac with me in the bus to edit on. I shoot our shows and things on the road and edit videos. I also do a radio show 7 days a week and I even do it from the road as well. 10. Which member of the band is most likely to get arrested for something stupid? Chase. no question 11. What helps lift you up when you're down? My wife is my balance, especially while I'm on the road. I call here a few times a day and she always brightens my mood. 12. Is there anything you'd like to add before you go? Thanks for taking the time to catch up. I always like to drop our website www.withinreasonmusic.com Also...bonus question, if you feel like answering it....do you wanna build a snowman? Of course. I could have used some snow today in Mississippi. Hot one today. Big thanks to David Koonce for staying in touch with Immortal Music before Uproar, at the festival and after. Plus, thank you for answering the questions so quickly. Be sure to check out their website, Withinreasonmusic.com. While you're at it, feel free to like their Facebook page, follow them on Twitter, and check out their music on YouTube, Reverbnation and iTunes. Ballyhoo! Has been awesome and so far have invited me to multiple shows! Every time, they have extended an offer for an interview, and unfortunately, every time life gets in the way and Immortal Music has not been able to attend. However, in November 2013, an email interview with Howie Spangler did occur. He was kind of enough to do a second one, and had quite a few things to say! So read on! You might just get some knowledge involving Ballyhoo!'s future and some laughs along the way.
1. What inspired the Halo EP? “Halo” is new version of an old song called “Beautiful Day”, originally released on Pineapple Grenade last year. We went in with John Feldmann (Neon Trees, 5 Second of Summer) and wrote some new parts and really jacked it up. We wanted to get some music out for the summer and we had an alternate version of “No Good” and our cover of “The Lazy Song” just collecting dust. We figured our listeners would dig the material. 2. Why'd you decide to cover, "The Lazy Song”? We were submitting for Punk Goes Pop but we missed the deadline. I was trying to think of cool song that we would sound great as a pop-punk track and I’m a big fan of Bruno Mars. His version is a laid back reggae jam and I thought it would be perfect. It turned out pretty rad! 3. What has been your favorite place to perform so far and why? I love playing at a venue called Jannus Live in St Petersburg, FL. It’s outside in a courtyard surrounded by bars and we pack it out every time. Just a very cool spot for a rock show. The weather is usually awesome too. 4. What are some things fans can look forward to in the future? We’ve got a new EP coming this fall. Its looking like it will have 3 brand new songs and 3 alternate versions of older songs. They sound really cool with these new arrangements and I think the fans will like them a lot. 5. What do you do in your spare time? I draw, write songs and I have a two kids. That’s pretty much my life, ha ha. 6. What sort of music do you listen to on a regular basis? I listen to reggae and punk rock usually. I like old UB40 and then I’ll go to Operation Ivy and my top faves are Green Day, 311 & Sublime. Sometimes I’ll put on Pandora or Spotify radio. We listen to a ton of comedy albums like Bill Burr, Louis CK & Hannibal. 7. I've heard you have started your own record label. How's that been going for you? It’s going well. We have a major distribution deal and we can do whatever we want. We have three official releases out there. Pineapple Grenade broke the Billboard 200 last year in it’s first week. We will be signing and releasing some new bands in the next year as well. I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve always wanted to help other bands that I feel deserve it. 8. You play a lot of smaller venues, but have you played many small venues? If so, how do the big shows differ from the smaller ones for you? We’ve played just about every type of venue. No stadiums yet. As long as the energy is there, I don’t care what kind of place I’m playing. You can create intimacy at a big spot just as well, you just have to know how to make that connection. Sometimes a Sunday night crowd feels hungover, but you just have to get in their face and make them move. 9. Which member of the band is most likely to be arrested for doing something stupid? We’re usually pretty good about not drawing that kind of attention to ourselves. Not saying we don’t get wild and dumb sometimes, it’s usually in a building so we don’t frighten the general public. 11. Why was there no #10 question? You decide. It was a question that was so deep and rich that the answer upon reading, would literally blind you for up to twenty minutes and stir your deepest thoughts and emotions in a way that would change your very core causing you to rethink your entire existence and probably leave your wife and kids..That’s why. So, there you have it! Thank you very much, Howi for being so awesome as to do this interview once more! One of these days we'll sit down and do an interview in person. Meanwhile, hopefully you enjoyed answering the questions. Who knows, maybe you rocked out to some Sublime and 311 while you did so! Recently, I got to interview an up and coming solo artist named Kelly Lynn Barber. Her music is quite unique as it is a mix of pop rock, alternative rock, indie, and something all her own. While you might not know who she is yet, but believe me, you will in time. This interview might not cover all there is to know about her, but this might just give you some insight and intrigue you to learn more.
1. Your website says you were greatly inspired by artists including Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch and Kelly Clarkson, but are there any others that have inspired your music? Some of the songs I have written were influenced by some rock and punk bands that I listen to, which include but are not limited to the Foo Fighters, Paramore, the Goo Goo Dolls, Lifehouse, A Day To Remember and Jimmy Eat World. The EP I just released is mostly on the pop side so you don't hear those influences too much, but you'll hear a lot more of them on my next one. 2. Name something on your iPod that nobody would expect you to listen to? As much as I love rock music, there is quite a bit of pop on my iPod from my childhood that I haven't deleted. There's some Beyonce, David Archuleta, JoJo, Aly and AJ, and some other things like that haha. 3. Who would be on the lineup for your dream tour? (For you to play with.) I would love to play pretty much with any and all of my influences that I've listed (especially Avril Lavigne and the Foo Fighters) but I'd also love to play with any of the smaller bands that I listen to, such as Courage My Love or Tonight Alive. There's a lot of talent out there that not everyone knows about. 4. Have you ever had any crazy concert experiences? (If so, are there any stories you'd be willing to share?) I wouldn't say crazy, but I have had some unique experiences. I go to school at Penn State and there I'm involved in the Songwriters' Club, and we play a lot of shows together. A lot of the shows that we've done as a result have a lot of musicians in the audience so for example, when someone would cover a song that everyone knows, they wouldn't just sing along but they would break out into four-part harmonies. That kind of experience is something that I've only had with the club. 5. Where's the number one place you would like to play a show in/ at? I don't really have a number one place I want to play, but I do want to play at as many places as possible and I really want to travel. For me, playing music is more about the show itself and connecting with the audience than it is about the venue or the place. 6. Is there any kind of ritual you do before you get on stage? Before I get on stage you'd be able to catch me making a lot of weird noises to warm up my voice. I do lip trills, loud sighing sounds, and pretty much any and all noises I can think of. Haha. It seems to work for me so that's what I do! 7. What was the writing and recording process like for you when it came to your EP? The writing and recording process for my EP was extremely sporadic. I didn't write any of these songs with the intention of putting them on the EP, I kind of just wrote them when my life inspired them, and when it came time to record something I just picked the song and went with it. Then I eventually decided to put together an EP of the songs I've recorded. 8. How would you explain your music to those who have never heard you before? My music is very raw and real. It's kind of weird because it's pop music, but think of it this way; I'm pretty much a singer/songwriter who writes music based on her life that happens to be in the pop genre. In addition, it's all band-based, so that adds the raw rock feel to it. 9. As an up and coming artist yourself, what sort of advice could you offer to other artists in the same position? Advice that I would give another up and coming artist is that you need to give your all to every facet of what you do. That includes not only practicing and making killer music, but you also need to promote as much as you possibly can because if you don't, no one is going to hear what you've created. Also, you need to take yourself seriously because if you don't, no one else is going to. 10. Is there anything you'd like to add? One thing: Always remember to support independent music by going to shows and buying music. Thanks so much for taking the time to interview me! Thank you so much, Kelly for doing this interview with me! If anyone would like to check her or her music out, you can do so on her official website, YouTube, Facebook, and Reverbnation! |
