He's the founder of Black Label Society, been a co-writer for Ozzy Ozbourne, toured with him, auditioned for Guns N Roses, and collaborated with so many artists on other songs. Now, on April 8, Zakk will be releasing his first solo album in over twenty years. This will be the follow up to the 1996 release, Book of Shadows and fans cannot wait. So much so that it was named one of the most anticipated metal releases of 2016 by Rolling Stone's website. He has apparently been working on new solo material ever since Black Label Society finished their Unblacked tour in Spring of 2015. All the songs on Book of Shadows II were recorded from his home studio, which is called The Black Vatican. This new album will be supposed by a tour, but more information on that will be coming soon. For information on everything Zakk is currently up to, head on over to his official website and stay tuned for more information such as a track listing, album cover, and tour dates. Whenever a band loses a member, and finds someone else to help them out, the new member is obviously put to a test. This comes by not only the other members of the band, but the fans as well. Fans can be a bit harsh, because sometimes its more about coming to terms with change and possibly the loss of a beloved person. In the case of Asking Alexandria, some fans have been rather harsh torward new front man, Denis Stoff. Denis joined the band just before Warped tour of 2015 and somehow still is not being completely accepted nearly a year later. Can't people just accept it and be happy or move on? You don't have to keep up with them if you're not happy about it! Listen to the old stuff, and get over it. Denis spoke up about this though, and flat out said, "I'm not trying to fill anyone’s shoes/ What's the point? I'm here to create something new, to spill the ink on the new chapter of this story and do the best I can. This album is made of all the things that happened to me and the boys over the past couple of years." This was to Rocksound magazine, and was both about the album, The Black, which comes out in March, and about the constant comments from disgruntled fans. He went on to say he was at both his best and worst for the creative process of this album, and feels that it really helped contribute to the album. "This record pours with real and raw emotions – sadness and happiness, love and hate, struggle and relief – and I can't wait to see where the music's going take me from here. I feel like this record is going to be remembered for a long time. It's going to be the start of a whole new story." We're quite interested to hear this album, and are still waiting an exact release date. When it does come out though, we're going to be reviewing it! We're also looking forward to hopefully covering Asking Alexandria's performance at Fort Rock this May. Before they head our direction though, they will be on tour with Bullet For My Valentine and Blessthefall February 2 through March 11 all around the US, and all over Australia with Blessthefall and Buried In Venom. Then they will come back to the US to play Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Rock On The Range and Northern Invasion. They certainly have a lot going on here in the upcoming months. For more information, head on over to Asking's official website or the festival websites. Issues has always been a blurred genre. Its not simple to place what their genre is exactly but they are beloved none the less. Alternative Press recently asked the bands vocalists, Tyler Carter and Michael Bohn what sets their new album that they are currently working on, from their previous work. Tyler began to explain by saying, "Everyone in the band has got their own taste and style. Its like putting six different flavors into a stew and being able to complement it and stir in things that aren't bitter." Very well said, Mr. Carter. He went on to say they're always pushing boundaries and trying to do new things. He said there's a country sounding song on the album called "Young And Dumb", which frankly we can't really picture. "We like a lot of pop and then we mix that with a lot of R&B and metal. We grew up in the south, so if Issues ever did a country song, this is what it would sound like." That's rather interesting, and we're now rather curious what that song sounds like. As it stands right now, we have no information regarding the new album from Issues, but surely its going to be interesting. Meanwhile, you can catch Issues at several big festivals in the US such as the Self Help Festival, Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Rock On The Range. They also will be doing a topic with Hacktivist this may around the UK, Netherlands, Germany, Beligium, and will play the Slam Dunk Festival in the middle of said tour. For tour dates and ticket info, please visit Issues official website. Californian punk rock band, Pennywise have teamed up with an indie record, Hardline Entertainment to re-issue their early recordings on a single EP called Nineteen Eighty Eight.
The name comes from the year they formed, and will include the full EPs for A Word From The Wise and Wildcard, and tracks from the Soul Arch compilation. That compilation included covers of Black Flag's "Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie" and Ben E. King's "Stand By Me." Pre-sales are available now through Hardline's store, and they are already streaming "No Way" and "Gone", for everyone interested. We are not clear on a release date at this time, but there are four different LP packages. You can get the album in red, blue, green or black and white swirled for $15.99. There's 11 songs on this album, and the track listing is as follows. 1) Final Chapters 2) Covers 3) Depression 4) No Way Out 5) Gone 6) Wild Card 7) Maybes 8) Stand By Me (Ben E King) 9) Tomorrow 10) Don’t Feel Nothing 11) Gimmie Gimmie Gimmie (Black Flag) To pre-order, please go to Hardline Entertainment's website. Remember you can catch Pennywise at festivals like Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Rock On The Range,Carolina Rebellion, and at the Hollywood Palladium before all of the festivals. For further information, including festival lineups and ticket info, please go to the respective websites! Asking Alexandria will be releasing their first album with their new singer, Denis, this March. With a new singer, comes a lot of questions regarding the recording process.
Ben Bruce recently talked with Alternative Press magazine about the differences between recording The Black, and the band's last album, From Death To Destiny. As far as we know, AA and Danny Worsnop, who is now in We Are Harlot, are on very good terms still, but the way Ben was speaking in this interview makes us wonder a bit. He said that Danny had refused to sing or scream the songs they had written, so they had to make a massive compromise with Danny on that record. This time around, they have a very different mindset, and are going back to their roots for this one. They said they are very excited to start fresh with Denis, and have had a lot of fun working on The Black. The Black currently does not have a set release date, but it will be out in March of this year. |
