Today, Pop Evil is releasing their fifth studio album, Up!
In celebration of the album dropping, the band's hometown did something rather special. Grand Rapids, Michigan declared today, August 21, to be Pop Evil day! The mayor of Grand Rapids, George Heartwell was quoted saying, "The City of Grand Rapids appreciates the universal and timeless qualities that identify all forms of visual and performing art. "We have built a reputation of celebrating and encouraging artistic freedom, creativity and self expression. I appreciate the music that Grand Rapids’ own Pop Evil creates for that same reason. The group is a true original that has shown its commitment to their fans and to our West Michigan community." Rightfully so, the band is thrilled and honored by this announcement. After all, its not every day you have a day dedicated to you! This announcement was a total surprise to everyone, the band included. "Wow, what an incredible honor this is, and honestly we didn't see it coming!"Leigh Kakaty (Pop Evil's frontman) was quoted saying. "Our management and label know how to keep a good secret! We take a lot of pride in where we come from and this will never be forgotten." If you would like to see a clip of the announcement, you can do so on Fox's website! You can get the album now on iTunes, Amazon, or wherever else music is sold! The band is also on tour now through the end of September.
