It's been three years since the release of A Day To Remember's Bad Vibrations -time flies right? I had not even noticed that it had been that long. Today however, they broke that hiatus with a very interesting collab featuring the ever popular EDM artist, Marshmello. The song dropped right at midnight last night, and had been left unprompted. Check out the video below to check out ADTR on the beach with Marshmello. Warning: Please pause to watch the video before reading on, as my thoughts on the song and video are below. Spoilers may occur! Lyrics:
Never been safe but I’ve never gone closer Another year down and another year older A million fresh starts, what I needed was closure, yeah I lost who I was but I found my composure, yeah When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Call it high-strung, started uppin’ my dosage We’re way too young to be feelin’ this hopeless You were my light in the sinless ocean, yeah Feelin’ alive, even just for this moment, yeah When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me (What the—?) When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me You can pull an S.O.S., O.S. You can pull an S.O.S., O.S. When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me Lyrically, I absolutely love the song. You can easily see why though, its a love song, which is something ADTR doesn't usually do. Its very sweet, but the very obvious EDM beat is distracting me some. Its not a genre I'm overly familiar with, therefor rarely listen to. That being said, I feel like this song flows very nicely, and while it does feel like a detachment from ADTR's usual vibe, it does not feel unnatural. I'm enjoying this enough that I'm finding myself wondering what the next album will be like. This collaboration feels a bit random, yet not wrong in any way. A Day To Remember, you have my, and surely many other's attention. Guess we all have to stayed tuned for more, but meanwhile, you can catch ADTR on tour right now with Knocked Loose, and catch them at the Self Help Festival at two different locations this year. They're taking the festival to Worcester, MA on September 7 and San Bernardino, CA on October 12. For more information, head on over to their official website, as long as the Self Help website.
