Way back in September 2011, Anthrax released their tenth studio album! The album was called Worship Music, and managed to debut at number 12 on US charts, making it their highest chart rating since 1999. Because music is our religion over here on Immortal Music, there was absolutely no way we were going to pass up this album, just because of the name. We must say, we did like what we heard, for the most part. The lead single from the album is called "Fight 'Em Til You Can't", and was released in June of the same year. That being said, while the track is catchy and has a sort of apocalyptic vibe to it that the world would go nuts over, there's much more to this album to love. Especially "The Devil You Know", which is all about going with what you think feels right for you, even if others see it as something sinful. Its fast paced, and real. We like it a lot. "Its just the devil in me. There's no hypocrisy. What you see is what you get." Other stand out tracks include, "The Giant", which speaks of the struggle of trying to go on when you feel like you're drowning a bit. Yet you still keep pushing on. This is something that everyone needs to be reminded of now and again, and they do it very well. Don't give up the fight. As of right now, this is Anthrax's most recent full length album, but that is about to change on February 26! Pre-orders are available now for their brand new album, For All Kings through Anthrax's official website or through iTunes. While you're over on their website, be sure to check out their tour dates because they are extremely busy. You can catch them on tour right now with Lamb Of God, Deafheaven and Powertrip until the 12th of February. After that, they will be touring all over Mexico and Brazil, with a stop in Puerto Rico with Iron Maiden and Megadeth for one of the dates. After that, they go straight into playing festivals like Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, the Rock N' Derby, and more! Please visit the festival websites, or Anthrax's website for more information.

On July 24, 2015, Lamb Of God released their seventh studio album, VII: Sturm und Drang. The name, when translated into English means "Storm And Stress" and is thought to indirectly refer to their frontman, Randy Blythe's struggle with a manslaughter charge after a fan got killed at one of their shows in the Czech Republic in 2010. None of it was his fault, but someone decided to charge them, and this was their first album after the entire debacle finally concluded in 2013. While this music is not Immortal Music's taste, after looking at the lyrics, we could see the appeal somewhat. Lead single, "Still Echoes" speaks of all the things wrong with the world, and simply says they're not giving in. They're not going to just bow their heads and accept things blindly like some have. That's something we feel we can get behind. Be a leader, not a follower. Musically, we love it. Its heavy, its awesome, and some of it could definitely pump up a crowd. We envision a lot of mosh pits happening during a Lamb Of God show, which many people would be all over. Fans of Lamb Of God are loving this album already, and those who have yet to listen to the album, most definitely will. Its not something we're really into, but we do see how others would feel differently than we do. You can get this album wherever music is sold, and you can also catch Lamb Of God live right now with Anthrax, Deafheaven, and Powertrip! The tour goes through February 12, and then the band will get some time off before all of the US festivals start up. Lamb Of God will be performing at Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, The River's Rockfest, Northern Invasion, Rock N' Derby and Rock On The Range. For further information, such as exact tour dates, or festival lineups, please visit Lamb Of God's official website, or the respective festival websites. Okay, okay, okay, so we're extremely late on this review! We've actually had the album since a couple days after its release -a psychical copy at that! Problem is, things like work, and life like to get in the way, and things get put on the back burner. Basically, I've never once forgotten about Immortalized and I have wanted to review it, but fell completely behind. Luckily, the return of Disturbed is still highly exciting to many, therefor making this release still relevant even though the album is now almost exactly seven months old. The world has lost its mind over Disturbed's "Sound Of Silence" cover. It was originally by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964. It was all happy-go-lucky sounding, even though its extremely dark, and Disturbed brought that to life in a beautiful way. They brought the darkness to the surface and made it sound so wonderful that many have said this is how it should have always been. Some didn't even recognize it as a cover, that's how good of a job they did! We completely agree, its beautiful and they did a fantastic job, but after finally sitting down and listening to the album, we realized the album's full awesomeness. Obviously tracks like, "The Vengeful One" and "Sound Of Silence" are incredible, but is nobody going to talk about the title track? "Immortalized" is all about doing something great with your life. So great that your story will live on forever, there for making you immortal. Things definitely change over time, but some things do stay the same. Somethings stand the test of time, and this encourages you to try to be one of those things. Music is immortal, so why can't you? We thought this song hands down was the stand out track. Pure and simple, without a shadow of doubt, it needed to be brought to the surface. Other honorable mentions go to tracks like, "What Are You Waiting For", and "What taught you to hate?" "What Are You Waiting For" kind of goes along with "Immortalized" in our book. It flat out asks what are you waiting for, and then encourages you to just go out and do whatever it is you are wanting to do. Fuck what other people are saying, and just prove them wrong and go do it. Songs like that have always been something special to us and this one is absolutely no different. Its powerful, and inspiring -what's not to love? As for "What Taught You To Hate", it pushes the fact that hate isn't something you're born with. You're taught to hate, and this song pushes to figure out why. It points out how sad it is that people hate rather than love, and its just something worth listening to. Ladies and gentlemen, Disturbed is back in action and they're hopefully not going anywhere ever again. They most definitely have become immortalized. Don't forget that you can get this album wherever music is sold, and you can catch them on tour beginning February 10 with Saint Asonia, and then later at several festivals around the US such as Ufest 2016, 98Rockfest, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, and Rocklahoma. For further information, including exact tour dates, and international festival information, head on over to Disturbed's website. It has been four years since Lacey Sturm parted ways with her band, Flyleaf to be with her family. Now, the wait is over and Lacey will be coming out with her debut solo album very soon! The album, Life Screams comes out on February 12, and Immortal Music was lucky enough to be granted an advanced copy! The album is eleven tracks long, and has a similar vibe fans have always known and loved, all while having its own vibe. Some songs are melodic, and really bring their meaning to the surface, while others have almost a classic rock sort of vibe. The album starts off with "Impossible" which almost instantly catches your attention. It seems to be about over coming the impossible. You may not be the best, but you're going to do your best and you just may look back and realizing you're doing the impossible. This is about realizing you're doing just that, and because of that, its beautiful. At least from what I've seen from the first song, it does have a very similar feel to Flyleaf's music, but yet, it does have its own twist. Its a bit more melodic than a lot of the Flyleaf stuff I've heard, which really brings out the lyrics. Some favorite tracks for us are, "I'm Not Laughing" and "Rot", but for very different reasons. "I'm Not Laughing" is empowering, amd tells quite the story. Its about a girl, who appears to be bullied some and keeps to herself, but instead of being hurt by their words and wanting to fit in, she realizes she's differnt and embraces it. "I'm not pointing my finger, I don't want to be like you." She's not changing for anyone, and that's just how it should be. This song is also very up beat and fun, which surely will make it wonderful to hear live. As for "Rot", while this is more of a spiritual song, which is not normally our cup of tea, this one is done in a beautiful -dare we say badass?- way, that paints quite the picture. We won't paint the picture for you, you can hear it for yourself when the album is released. We will say that the song speaks of nearly being swallowed by the darkness around you, but then the light is all around you. It is on more of the religious side of things, as we said, but she did it so well that it deserved an honorable mention. We were also a bit surprised by the "Roxanne" cover. She did it very well, but it was rather unexpected. The song was originally done in 1978 by The Police, and her version sounds like its live and she clearly really appreciates this song. You can hear the passion in the voice, and its pretty impressive. The entire album is great, and as previously mentioned, you can get the album officially on February 12. Pre-orders are still available for those interested! Further information can be found on Lacey's official website, along with all of her upcoming festival appearances. Lacey will be performing at Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion and Rock On The Range this April/ May! Be on the look out for more tour dates as well! Massive thanks to Lacey's press people for sending us an advanced copy of this album! We appreciate it a lot and are very grateful to have been able to review it before its release! |
