Three Days Grace's third studio album, Life Starts Now was released in
September 2009, and is an album to live by. This mostly applies to a situation
where another person has hurt you greatly, and you're recovering from it.
After listening to the album several times, an idea hit me very hard. Rearrange the order of the songs, and you can clearly see that this album really can get you through a rough time. Take a look at my theory. Please keep in mind, this is all my personal take on the album, not nessicarily what Three Days Grace intended with the album.
Start the album with "World So Cold", because at this point you are cynical and bitter of the world, or people in some cases, and you want to get away, so "Break" would be next. Following, "Break" would be "Goin' Down", since you want to beat down whoever or whatever had been bringing you down. Then, of course, as we have all experienced, the doubts come and you start wondering if its the right thing to do. You may even begin missing who or what was hurrting you. Because of this, next would be, "Without You." Simply because, it says, "I'm nothing without you.". "Someone Who Cares" also seems fitting for this spot, because it asks the question, "Why is it so hard to find someone who cares about you?"
To stop this, you start thinking about the good times, possibly making you miss it even more, so "Lost In You" works here very well. With the good times, there are also some bad times, and you may start contemplating how people treat you, and how some people are, so here is "Bully". Obviously, you don't want those kinds of people around, and you want them to suffer at least for a little while. Sometimes this means making them be out of the loop, so "Last To Know" would be here. At some point, you can't help but feel like its all too much, and you just can't take anymore. Naturally, "No More" would work, because it says, "No more, I can't take it."
However, no matter how bad life seems to get, it always turns around. You will be able to see this with time, and start longing for it. "The Good Life", would be perfect.
Finally, life stops beating you down, and you can finally feel relieved again. "Life Starts Now" would still be the final track.
If this doesn't make any sense to anyone other than me, I do apologize. It made perfect sense to me, and this was all written spur of the moment because I had the idea. This is not fully an album review, but I'm sure anyone can gather my take on it. I adore this album, and this band. This album, without a question, gets five stars.
All reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began.
