I was completely blown away by the lyrics on Get Your Heart On. I've
never once called myself a fan of Simple Plan, but I would say I am a fan of
From just the first notes of the album, I could tell they had changed their sound, leaving it with more of a pop influence over a punk one. I simply can't get over the depth of this album though.
I was hesitant to listen to the album, but a die hard Simple Plan fan sent me the track, "Astronaut", aand I was hooked from there. "Astronaut" takes feeling lonely and compares it to being an astronaut. "'Cause tonight I'm feelling like an astronaut, sending SOS from this tiny box, and I lost all signial when I lifted off. Now I'm stuck out here, and the world forgot."
The whole album is greatly impressive, but my favorite track is either, "You Suck At Love" or "Last One Standing". "You Suck At Love" is very catchy, and I love how Pierre sings, "Guess What? Another game over. I got burned but you're the real loser. I don't know why I've wasted my time with you. You're bad news, a history repeater. You can't trust a serual cheater. You're good at hooking up, but you suck at love!"
Now, "Last One Standing" really hit home for me. Its all about being frustrated with a friend who is fighting you. They're not gonna beat you down, or let them hurt you. In the end, you'll be the one who comes out on top. It even says, "I'm never gonna give up, and now I'm ready to go. I'm here, waiting for you, and I'm gonna be the last one standing."
If you want a fun album with a ton of depth get this album! I give this album five stars.
All reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began.
