Buckcherry apparently really likes the word 'fuck'. On August 19, they released a brand new EP simply called 'Fuck' via their own record label -F-Bomb Records. Warning: If you don't like cuss words -stop reading now. There's no censoring an EP called "Fuck", where every title says "fuck" in it.
Over all, the EP doesn't stand out all that much. Aspects of it, are great, but to quote Buckcherry themselves -I Don't Give A Fuck. Clearly they don't either, because in the song, "I Don't Give A Fuck", it feels as though that is the only lyric in the song. That's not the case, of course, but it feels very repetitive like that. In all seriousness, the EP is just 'alright.' Its basically a big 'fuck you' to the world. To everyone that's ever done them wrong. My only question is did you really need six songs about this? "Someone Fucked With Me" could have been enough, in my opinion. Going back to the point that said this EP doesn't stand out at all. "Its A Fucking Disaster" does stand out quite a bit on its own. Because a lot of people probably could relate to it. It appears to be about when everything is going wrong, and you simply do not know what to do. Its a feeling everyone can relate to. The best song on the EP though is actually a cover. Buckcherry covered Icona Pop's "I Love It" and turned it into, "Say Fuck It." Its actually quite fitting, due to the fact that the original song says things like, "I threw your shit into a bag, and pushed it down the stairs. I crashed my car into a bridge." Clearly, while they don't care, they also said "fuck it, I'm doing this stuff." They did a great job with this cover! They also threw in a reference to their own song, by saying "I'm from the seventies, you're a crazy bitch." That lyric is in place of the original lyric; which says, "You're from the seventies, but I'm a nineties bitch." Its an alright EP. Its kind of worth the money, kind of not. I personally give this album three stars, because its decent, but not amazing. You decide for yourself though, what you think. Also, keep in mind that you can catch Buckcherry on the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival along side Godsmack, Pop Evil, Seether, Escape The Fate and more through September 21, 2014.

Michael Cera, a curly haired twenty six, beloved actor has now branched out into the music world. He has released an eighteen track indie folk album on Bandcamp, and sent it out to the world for everyone to hear.
Its unique, you have to give him that. The album is called True That, and all the songs have a similar feel to them. A feel like it was recorded in one's bedroom, but was actually given plenty of thought. The indie folk genre isn't everyone's cup of tea, but if anyone has followed Michael Cera's work, they probably would have to agree that it works well for him. In fact, I'd expect nothing different from him, just due to some of the musical content that is in the movie Juno. The first reaction to this album, in all honesty, is to say it is crap but you can tell that a lot of time and effort went into this. So, you have to give credit where credit is due. Not to mention, its also quite brave, no matter who you are to release an album totally of your own creation out into the world. The problem is, I cannot figure out what sort of rating to give this album. Its totally fitting for Michael Cera, but at the same time, totally not my taste in the slightest. I think I shall give this album three stars, simply because he was brave enough to release it and he did it all on his own. There's something respectable about that. If you'd like to check out this indie folk album, please go to Michael Cera's Bandcamp page. Ballyhoo released a new EP on June 17 which features three songs. The EP is titled Halo and chances are fans will not be disappointed. They honestly covered several bases in life with just three songs! We all have those days where everything is awesome, days where everythin slightly sucks, and days where we just wanna laze around and do nothing. This EP totally covers those bases perfectly, and everyone can relate to it for that fact.
The EP starts with "Halo (Beautiful Day)" has a fun, kind of Weezer-esque feel to it and it depicts a beautiful day. This song could probably help assist someone into a better mood if they were not quite feeling it that day. Its actually quite refreshing too, to hear a song about a great day that features sunshine, picnics and kissing, rather than darker topics. Its a nice thing to bring to the table. From that, it goes into "The Lazy Song." which, yes, is a cover of the famous Bruno Mars song. A ton of people have covered it since its release in 2010, and while Ballyhoo! may have been late on the game, its better late than never! This is probably one of the best covers of the song to be relesed to date. So, kudos to Ballyhoo! for that! The final song on the EP is, "No Good" and it is quite the jump from "Beautiful Day." Go from saying how beautiful the day is to saying, "This is hell." just two songs later. Clearly, something happened to change the mood, but this song is still very good! It appears to be centered around a breakup, as he says something about picking up the pieces of a relationship. But dude, what's so good about picking up the pieces? He seems to realize that fact though becuase he does state something about not letting people get the best of him. Over all, this is a wonderful EP that I recommend everyone checks out. You can get this five star EP now on iTunes! |
