This album is old now, but this is the album that made a name for them. This is technically their second album, but hardly anyone knew about them yet.
The most popular tracks are, “Year 3000”, “S.O.S.”, “Hold On.” and, “When You Look Me In The Eyes.” That being said, my favorites were, “That’s Just The Way We Roll”, “Still In Love With You”, “Inseparable” and, “When You Look Me In The Eyes.” I’m the most impressed by, “When You Look Me In The Eyes”, however. Its one of the best love songs I have ever heard and was originally written by an eleven year old Nick Jonas. “When you look me in the eyes, and tell me that you love me, everything’s alright, when you’re right here by my side. When you look me in the eyes, I catch a glimpse of Heaven, I find my paradise.” It’s a beautiful song, and not many eleven year olds can write lyrics like that. This album has amazed me since the day it came out in 2007, and still does today. Only songs I dislike on this album are. “Hello Beautiful” and “Kids Of The Future.” I adore this album, its probably one of my all time favorites. I give this album an obvious.

Not only does Artist Vs Poet have a catchy pop sound, but their now former singer, Tarcy Thomason sounds adorable as he sings. He has a wonderful a voice.
The whole album is great, but I absolutely have to say my favorite is “Damn Rough Night”, its just a catchy fun tune about a one night stand after turning twenty-one. You sort of have to love it. Its not all catchy and fun though, they do have one song on the album that isn’t all fun and perky. “Miserably Loving You” is about loving someone you shouldn’t, and knowing that fact. “Emily please, there’s nothing wrong with the way I light up when you’re around. Do anything you want, but don’t bring me down. Emily come on, this was going somewhere, I won’t let go of what we had. ‘Cause I’m a broken recording that keeps on skipping back.” I feel everyone’s felt like they wanted someone back before, no matter how terrible they were to you, so this song is perfect. Every song is great, and I love their energy. Because of that, I give this album five stars. After hearing “Monster You Made”., I decided I needed to hear more. I was highly impressed when I did listen. Their singer, Leigh Kakaty, has such an incredible voice, and seems to be greatly into the lyrics he’s singing.
That continues throughout the album, which is something I enjoyed about this album. If they’re into the words they’re singing, I feel the music is better and more relatable. There’s not a single track on this album I dislike, they’re all very good. The best ones in my opinion would either be “Broken And Betrayed” or “Monster You Made.” Both songs are very deep and relatable. “Broken And Betrayed” is all about realizing that shit happens and feeling betrayed. It also talks about the struggle of breaking away from someone who’s caused you harm. Everyone’s been through something similar, and if you haven’t, then you need to consider yourselves lucky. Then there’s “Monster You Made”, not only is it beautifully written, but its all about wanting to change things you don’t like about yourself, and somewhat blaming society for how you turned out. I loved the line that says, “Who I am is not who I used to be.” People change, and this song talks about that so well. Do not over look this album. If you do, you’ll be missing out on something great. There’s no rating other than five stars that is worthy of this album. The Jonas Brothers fourth studio album is more mature than the other three, and it has a different sound to it than the others. This one doesn’t actually have a set sound, it jumps form pop rock, to acoustic, to country and rap.
Now people have to keep in mind that I am a die hard Jonas Brothers fan, so I am a bit biased. That being said, I love this album! My favorite track is either “World War III” or “Poison Ivy”. “World War III” is actually about Nick’s ex, Miley Cyrus, and how she was always picking fights with him. It just is put together well and its catchy. Then there’s “Poison Ivy”, I’m not sure who it’s about, but its lyrically very different for them. Everyone’s allergic to poison ivy, everybody gets the itch, everybody hates that-” I was shocked the first time I heard it, because they clearly intended to say “Everybody hates that bitch.” I sincerely do love the whole album, the only songs I’m iffy about are “Turn Right”, and “Don’t Speak.” They aren’t the normal lyric genius that JB ha. They both have barely any words! I definitely recommend this album, its simply amazing in my eyes. Its got great lyrics and instrumentals. Its incredible, I can give this album no score other than five stars. Over all, I’m not actually a big fan of Framing Hanley. There’s not a reason for it, I’m just not. However, I think they did quite a good job on this album. I thought that from the first track, “The Promise.”
I do like every track on the album, but the ones that get stuck in my head are “Weight of the World” and “Wake Up.” They’re a bit more upbeat, which I enjoy. Except for those two, even though they’re good, I feel they’re a bit generic. It all sounds -musically- like they just heard other beats and altered them ever so slightly. Because this album isn’t bad, but isn’t all that great, I give this album three stars. Its not quite passing, but not quite failing either. While I’m reviewing this album a couple years after its release, I felt this album is better than Reckless And Relentless, So late or not I decided to review it.
Normally, I don’t like instrumentals, or songs that are nearly instrumental, but “Alerion” is a good intro. I love the “fuck this” near the end when Danny starts screaming. I’m also not a huge fan of “screamo” to the extent Asking Alexandria does, I think that’s a big reason I only really enjoy two if the songs on this album. “Final Episode (Let’s Change The Channel)” and “Not The American Average”. I don’t even know why I like those songs, there’s really no reason. Especially not when it comes to my favorite, “Not The American Average.” Seeing as the song is about a hooker. I guess its just because its catchy, honestly. While I’m not sure I really would say I like any of the other songs a lot, I do enjoy some of the titles greatly. Like, “I Used To Have A Best Friend, But Then He Gave Me An STD”, or “I Was Once, Possibly, Maybe, Perhaps a Cowboy King.” They had fun when it came to naming their songs I think. I’d have to give this album four stars, because I do like the music, lyrics, and the screaming, just not necessarily as often as they use it. While I know Evanescence has a very impressive fan following, and I do see that they have "talent", I'm over all not feeling them. I've never been a fan of Evanescence.
I do see their talent, but it wasn't anything overly special to me. i found the music to be exactly like all the background music that's played in the so called "epic" moments in movies. Only song I'd say I actually liked would have to be the lead single, "What You Want". It felt different from all the others, it had some personality to it. All the others sounded the same to me, or were practically lullabies. Songs like "The Change", "My Heart Is Broken", "Lost In Paradise", and "Erase This" were putting me to sleep just listening to them. Pretty much the whole album except "What You Want", "The Other Side" and a couple others. Since this album is okay, I'll give it a three. They tried very hard, and a lot of people don't agree with me. They're highly sucessful, just not my style, I suppose. |
InformationAll reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began. Archives
