Though New Found Glory is talented, I've never been a huge fan of theirs. What I do like about them though is they are unique. The majority of bands sound similar to someone else, even if it wasn't intended.
Despite the fact that the song sounds like its about an orgasm, I think my favorite song on this album is "I Don't Wanna Know". It sounds so melodic, and everything surrounding the chorus talks about what its like to meet someone special. This song is either perverted, or its about nerves. It could honestly be taken way. "First comes heavy breathing, staring at the ceiling. What will happen next? I don't wanna know." The nerves actually make more sense, now that I think about it. I also really enjoy, "Your Biggest Mistake". Its one of those songs you can sort of rock out to, while telling someone that they're making a huge mistake. Its a good album, but I'm not completely impressed, so I am going to give it four stars.

This album, much like Everyday Life, impresses me to no end. This album has such diversity to it. It starts off on a brutual, sort of hateful song, ironically titled, "Love Song." that says things like, "I wish I would have got it all, and killed you when I had the chance", and "There's a place in my heart, but it was never for you."
The songs that stand out to me on this album are, "Seasons", because it features Shinedown's Brent Smith, and "Where Did You Go" for no other reason than its a good song. Its about how someone changed their lives. "Where'd you go? What did you need? You know I couldn't set you free until I fixed this hole in me. 'Cause life, it hits so hard that I couldn't breathe. When I was looking for a change in you, I found a change in me that I couldn't see." Its easy to see how talented they are. Anotehr five star album for One Less Reason. One Less Reason reminds me of Nickelback. How they'll have their harder songs, and slower and sweeter ones. Plus, their sounds are very similar to how Nickelback sounded when they first started out.
I simply adore this album, all the songs are incredibly well thought out and put together. My favorite though is, "A Day To Be Alone." Even though it is a truly heart breaking song. "Tell me about those nights you stayed awake, tell me about those days you hated me. Tell me how you'd rather die alone than being stuck here, with me. And maybe you've fallen down, and maybe you just took the long way home, but baby you could never love you like me. And one day this will fade away, in the mirror you'll see the smiling face, and standing next to you will alwyas be me." Its bittersweet how much he cars for this woman, when its quite obvious they are no longer a couple. More people need to know of the greatness that is One Less Reason. They've never dissapointed me with any of their albums. I give this album five stars, because this album has nothing wrong with it in the least. The vocals are incrediblly passionate, the lyrics are deep and heartfelt, and the music is just so great. There's nothing to dislike about this album. While I wouldn't say O.A.R. is one of my favorite bands, I do feel they're severally underrated. They remind me of someone I can't actively place, but they're good.
I guess you could say they are a mixture of The Fray, and Daughtry, and all their music is very melodic and smooth. My favorite is probably "Shattered", even though the song is about getting hurt repeatedly and wondering how long it'll be until you can't take anymore. I just happen to really like how it sounds. "How many times can I break 'til I shatter? Only the light can define what I'm after. I always turn the car around. Give me a break, let me make my own pattern. All it takes is some time but I'm shattered. I always turn the car around." I don't know why, but I like that a lot. It is a relatable song, we've all caught ourselves wondering what more we could take, and we've all given up before we even got to experience things. The rest of the album is pretty good too, and all very smooth. Something that most would consider "easy listening". I give this album five stars. Its not quite my style, but its still a good album. Murderdolls is a unique band, but they do have serious talent. Their songs are a bit morbid, you can tell that just by their titles. With songs like, "SLit My Wrist", "She Was a Teenage Zombie", "Dressed To Depress", "Die My Bride" and others on this album alone, the content is pretty obvious.
Murderdolls are most defentily not meant for the faint at heart, but I greatly enjoy them. I am not sure what my favorite track is, but I go back and forth between, "People Hate Me", "Mother Fucker, I Don't Care", and "Die My Bride." The music on every track is very strong, powerful, and heavy, but some songs actually have catchy qualities to them. Like in "People Hate Me", which says, "People hate me, 'cause I'm better than you. People hate me, and that's the mother fucking truth. People hate me, and you can all fuck off. I'm perfect, pissed off, beautifulo. I'm God." Its brutal as hell, but that's just about what you'd say if you were just that fed up with people. Minus the whole being perfect and God, thing. You probably would never need to say such a thing in your entire life. I througholy enjoyed this album, and if you enjoy true "horror metal" or whatever you want to cll it, listen to this album. This album has earned five stars. Through this is an old album, it is a great one. It is the album that got Shinedown on the map.
Over the years, while they've tweeked their sound, they've stayed true to this sound. Not many bands do that, so its impressive that Shinedown never changed. I can only imagine how long it took for them for perfect not only the music, but the lyrics themselves for this album. First albums are rarely as good as the ones that follow, because the bands are trying so hard to do good on it, and make a name for themselves that they mess up. This is one of the best debut albums ever. I don't really have a favorite on this album, they're all amazing. It is fairly obvious, but I have to give his album a solid, sparkly, five star rating. It deserves that and so much more. Metro Station's one and only album as of right now was a very fun album. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say it was amazing.
Metro Station felt so generic, just like any other pop band. Even the lyrics didn't seem unique to me! "Seventeen Forever" reminded me of Twilight, and all except for "Shake It", "Wish We Were Older", and "Tell Me What To Do", all felt done before. Actually, unless you're in a mood to dance, the entire album can get slightly annoying. When I'm in the right mood, I like this album, but since its not one of those albums you can listen to any time, I have to give this album three and a half stars. Its alright, but far from amazing. I greatly enjoy how "The Call Out (You Are The Dishes)" starts. How the lead singer starts singing his message to the girl, that seemed very unique to me and I liked that.
My all time favorite on this album though is, "Bodybag". Its such a hateful, and angry song, but the upbeat and fun instrumentals hide that well. "You're gonna need a bodybag. I'll break bones you didn't know you had. When I'm done there will be nothing left of you for your friends to hold on to when they find you cold and blue tonight, face down in the parking lot." This is one of those go-to songs for when you're pissed off with someone. I also am slightly attatched to the song, "One Hundred Times", because it was the first song by Hit The Lights I had ever heard. I'm not sure why I enjoy it, though. It is basically talking about a girl who cheats on their boyfriend. "So make me promises girl, the kind I know you can't keep. And while I'm losing my mind, I hope your home finding sleep. But we both know that that's not the case, because the look on your face, gives all your secrets away." Its awful, but so well The introduction to this album really does open a door for what's the come on the album. I love how it smoothly flows into "Breath In", which is very catchy.
The entire album is an example of how great pop punk can be. My favorite though, by far has to be, "Drop The Girl". Because not only does the beat rock, but it says the exact same thing I've said to a few people. "Drop the girl, she's not worth the time. She's wasted on her bed, dragging other boys into her lies. And you know the's no good for you.." I feel like many people have spoke similar words, but sometimes people just do not listen. Its all good, but that is my favorite track. I give this album five stars, because its one of the best punk pop albums I have ever heard. |
