On September 18, 2015, Shinedown dropped their fifth studio album, Threat To Survival. The title is entirely fitting for the album, as you see deep inside the mind of Brent Smith, the band's vocalist. It appears as though he was in a very dark place, but eventually saw the light and encouraged others to look for it as well.
Overall, the lyrics are slightly different for Shinedown, but all at once, its classic Shinedown. They've always been hard hitting, and deep, this album is no different there. It shows you exactly what its like to be struggling, and the process you go through while feeling lost. It also though, may just encourage people to be themselves no matter what, take charge of their own life, and frankly survive. Hands down though, our favorite was "Dangerous", that was the turning point for us. Just as we were questioning if we really liked the album or not, this one came one. It flat out tells people that they and what they have to say matter. "Everybody is somebody and anyone is you! I own my story. I won't say I'm sorry, and neither should you." "Misfits" was also quite beautiful, as it tells the story of two people not quite fitting in, and being completely okay with that because they had each other. The whole album is very interesting, and thought provoking, as is most of Shinedown's music. Go check it out now on iTunes or wherever music is sold! More than likely, you'll be very impressed.

On August 28, 2015, pop rock band, Run 2 Cover released their debut album, Lovesick on iTunes. We may have been a couple weeks late on the release, but none the less, we were very excited to hear what they had in store for us.
If you are a fan of pop rock in any way, we recommend checking them out. If asked to compare them to anyone, our first reaction is to say The Summer Set, mixed with a touch of Blink 182. Either way, this album is a great debut to the world, and if you haven't heard of Run 2 Cover before, you may want to check them out. The entire album is very fun and catchy, but like most albums, some tracks stood out more than others. Our personal favorites were, "I'm The One" and "Change Me." "Change Me" is simply saying "You can't change me." Nobody should ever try to change you and if they ever do, ditch them! You don't need that sort of negativity in your life. That's not exactly what this song is saying, but that's what we thought of as we were listening to it. It was actually about someone trying to change you and saying enough is enough really. Then there was, "I'm The One." By the name, I was expecting a love song, but instead, it was extremely inspiring. It speaks of feeling down, and someone actually coming through and helping you out of it. This one could easily remind someone that they are not alone, even when it feels like they are, and that there's always something worth living for. "There's no need to run from your fears. Just put out your hand and I will take you from here." We found that to be incredibly beautiful and highly recommend everyone listen to it at some point in their life. Be sure to check out Run 2 Cover on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, ect and get their album, Lovesick now on iTunes! If you want to learn more about them, we actually did an interview with them, which you can find right here! Atreyu will be releasing their first album in six years on September 18! Their wonderful press person was kind enough to send us an advanced copy of Long Live and it may have been six years, but Atreyu remains the same.
Their classic, unique metal sound has returned! The title track, "Long Live" almost instantly proves that and every track holds that familar sound fans have always known and loved. Different messages can be heard through the album, but several do have words of strength for listeners. Such as, "Somehow we'll make it through the pain", in Long Live, and "There is more to this life" in "Heartbeats And Flatlines." Some tracks may even get you to stop and think about your life, and what you are capable of in your life. We personally think its one hell of a comeback and that several of the tracks were pretty much made for live performances. Those include "Do You Know Who You Are" and "Cut Off The Head." Its best not to risk giving too much away, but we can say Atreyu is back in action, and they're onto great things. Don't forget Long Live comes back comes out officially on September 18! Pre-order it now while you still can! Bring Me The Horizon's fifth studio album, That's The Spirit is out now! Its been two years since they released the Sempiternal album, and let us just say you will not be dissapointed. This is different from that album, but done very, very well.
Through out the album, there's songs people can definitely relate to. Songs that talk of despair, getting away, friendship, and surprisingly a love song. We actually are a newer fan of BMTH, so perhaps the love song shouldn't have surprised us but when, "Follow You" was playing we were rather surprised. The song actually says they could drag him through hell, but he's under her spell and will always be there for her. "Cross my heart and hope to die, I promise I will never leave your side." Its extremely beautiful and sweet, really. We also wanted to give honorable mentions to, "True Friends", the re-released version of "Drown", and "Blasphemy." For some reason we can't exactly explain, "True Friends" speaks to us. Its one of those songs that gets stuck in your head for days, and you relate to it for reasons unknown even to you. Nothing's going on now, but past experiences may influence how you relate to a song. "I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you. I will forget, but I will never forgive you. Don't you know? Don't you know? True friends stab you in the front." Its just an awesome song about betrayal, and we couldn't help but love it. "Drown", is a beautiful cry for help that they re-recorded for the album. "Who will fix me now? Dive in when I'm down? Save me from myself. Don't let me drown. Who will make me fight? Drag me out alive? Save me from myself! Don't let me drown." Everyone, unfortunately has felt like they may be drowning in the stress of it all, and just question if anyone will be there to help. Its a beautiful struggle, and that's all we have to say on the matter. Now "Blasphemy", actually got us rather excited. Its an anti-religion song, which yes, will ruffle the feathers of thousands, but that can also be a sign that you're doing something right. Its blunt and frankly, it just made us want to shout, "MUSIC IS THE RELIGION." The song flat out says that religion just doesn't make sense, and that was awesome. "It makes no sense -but it must be right. The blood and sweat you sacrificed, was it all for nothing? 'Cause we found no sign and we see no light. We hear no voice when we pray at night. Fantastic job, Bring Me The Horizon! You released another kick ass album! You can get this album now on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, wherever music is sold. Let this album excite you for all the live performances they have coming up October 1 through December 9. Visit BMTH's website for more information. Go check out That's The Spirit, more than likely you will be blown away. Devour The Day originally released their debut album, Time & Pressure on May 7, 2013 and then was re-released on January 14, 2014.
They have a sort of modern Linkin Park feel to them, yet have a sound that is completely their own all at once. Almost everyone could probably find something to relate to with this album, and it may just inspire you somewhat. Lyrically, the album does seem to be driven by anger and disappointment but in the end, it finds hope. If you find yourself needing some therapy or good feelings, turn to their tracks, "Good Man" or "Move On." "Move On" is basically saying, "I'm not done fighting" and "Good Man" comes from a place of humility, making it rather beautiful. Then you have your fun, catchy tracks like, "Blackout", and "Respect", that will have you wandering around your home humming to yourself because they're just that catchy. Over all, its an incredible album, which you can get now on iTunes! If you happen to get the curiosity, you can also catch them live at several festivals like XFest 2015, Rock Allegiance, Rocktober Fest, Aftershock and Knotfest! For more information, check out Devour The Day's website and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! Charm City Devils is a hard rock band from Baltimore, Maryland, and on September 19, 2014 they released their third studio album, Battles. Halestorm fans are highly encouraged to check out Charm City Devils, they will more than likely be very impressed.
There is not a theme with this album, but every single song has their own meaning and all of it sounds great. You have songs of all types, the ones for the parties, for the haters, the encouraging, ect. Its one hell of an album that doesn't exactly fit into a mold in any way. That's one of the many things that makes it great, though. For us, the stand out tracks were, "Karma", and "Lying To Yourself." "Karma" is just flat out saying "Karma's a bitch", and that things will come back to haunt you if you're doing something you shouldn't be. Then "Lying to yourself", is when you're at your limit with someone. You've done all you could for them, and yet they're still failing. You can't save everyone, they have to want to help themselves first. "I'm just a man, you don't understand. I don't have all the answers, I'm doing the best I can. I thought you knew, I'm not gonna save you. If that's what you're expecting, you'll be lying to yourself." Over all, Battles is an awesome album, and is highly worth checking out. You can get the album now on iTunes, and while you're at it, be sure to check Charm City Devils on all their social medias linked below. And if you really like what you hear, you can catch them live at the Free Fall Festival coming up on September 26, and the Rock Allegiance festival on October 10! Facebook/ Twitter/ YouTube/ Official website The Temperance Movement is a blues rock/ hard rock band from London, England, and on September 16, 2013, they released their first full length, self titled album. They have a very interesting sound, that has a classic rock feel to it. It feels as though they would compliment bands like Hinder, Daughtry, Nickelback and Sons Of Reverly very well.
Just under half of the the album was actually released previously as an EP in 2012. Those songs included, "Only Friend", "Ain't No Telling", "Pride", "Be Lucky", and "Lovers And Fighters." We would say this would be one of those 'easy listening' albums. Something you would turn on when you're trying to unwind from a long day, or when you would like some background music when you're working on something. Over all, we don't have a ton to say about this album. Its a perfectly good album, but nothing actively spoke to us. Its definitely likely that others will feel differently, but for us, its just not our cup of tea. Check it out for yourself though, and decide for yourself what you think! You can pick up the album on iTunes now and can catch The Temperance Movement live at several festivals coming up this fall. There's the Louder Than Life Festival on October 4, Rock Allegiance on October 10, Aftershock on October 24, Voodoo Experience on November 1, and the Winter Rocks Festival on December 5. For more information, please visit The Temperance Movement's official website. |
