Back on August 31, 2010, Disturbed released their fifth studio album, Asylum. This was the last album they released before they went on their four year hiatus, which began in October 2011.
The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and recieved a Gold Certification in March 2011. The lead single, "Another Way To Die" came out on June 14, 2010 and something tells us that most people remember the release of that song. It was everywhere for a while -it was even used in the second trailer for the 2011 Mortal Kombat game. Its no surprise that the entire album is incredible, but of course, we do have our favorites. Without a doubt, "Another Way To Die" is a favorite, because its extremely catchy and gets people to think about life and the way they live it. "Warrior" stands out for a similar reason honestly. Then there's "Never Again", which encourages people to stand up for what they deserve and do what's right. You can get this album wherever music is sold, but if you go through iTunes, you can get a different version of the album that featured three original tracks and a cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm looking For." We didn't have that version, but it was still worth mentioning. If you're interested in that, you can still get it on iTunes, and of course you can find the album other places well, just without bonus tracks. While you're at it, be sure to check out all of Disturbed's music, which can be found in the same locations as this album! We've done reviews of a few of them, and are working on doing their entire discography. So far, we have done Immortalized, The Sickness, and Believe, along with this one. After you're done with those reviews, head on over to Disturbed's official website to see everything they have going on. Right now they are on tour with Saint Asonia, and that will go through the end of March. After that, they are setting out with Nonpoint and Mindset Evoluton. After that, they will be performing at a lot of festivals around the US. Those festivals include Ufest 2016, 98Rockfest, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, and Rocklahoma. For any tour information, please head on over to Disturbed's official website.

Bring me The Horizon released their debut album into the world on October 30, 2006 in the UK, and then in August 2007 here in the US, and it was called Count Your Blessings. They actually had two EPs before this album came out that came out in 2004, and the first one actually did feature a couple of the same songs that are on this album. Those songs include "(I Used To Make Out With) Medusa)", and "Off the Heezay." Something I noticed right off the bat about early Bring Me The Horizon is they had some interesting song titles. I mean, "I Used To Make Out With Medusa"? "Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick"? and "For Stevie Wonders Eyes Only (Braille.)" They definitely had fun naming their songs back in the day. Those are just tracks on this album, though I do really want to acknowledge the fact that on their second EP they have a song called "RAWWWWWWR!" That's just amusing, considering that's how a lot of people view screaming in music, because they often can't get past the meaning. Anyways, onto this album. Its noted for being 'deathcore' and is definitely the exact opposite of how BMTH is today. If I'm honest, we like the progress they've made. Many people feel differently and think the earlier, much heavier Bring Me The Horizon is much better, but if you ask me, the geniune talent the band has is totally hidden in the deathcore style. Where as now, you hear the instrumentals beautifully, you hear Oli singing, not just screaming and growling into a microphone, and what is most important to me -you hear the meaning. That being said, when I look at the lyrics, I quite like the lyrics to several of the songs. One of them being a song I mentioned above because of the funny title. "Tell Slater Not To Wash His Dick." The song obviously has nothing to do with AC Slater from Saved By The Bell, and despite its amusing title, it actually comes from a very dark place. It seems like its coming from a very despressed place after a break up. Obviously, that's sad and you just want to help, but this was ten years ago so its much better now. The way he worded this though was quite beautiful, "You've got a mouth like a razor blade, it cuts so deep. So kiss my wrists and my neck, and give me eternal sleep." It does make you step back and think for a moment. Whoever said, "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me", was completely lying to themselves. Words kill. But they also inspire great lyrics sometimes. So, I think its pretty obvious what I think of this album. I'm not a fan but can appreciate some of the lyrics. I also appreciate that it definitely was a good start in their growth to what I know and love today. But now there's a question for you. What do you think about this album? Let me know in the comments below, or over on Facebook or Twitter. After you do that, head on over to BMTH's official website to check out everything they have going on. They're easily one of the busiest bands out there right now, between tours in a few different countries and festivals all over the world, they just never slow down. They have takes coming up here shortly in Mexico, Beliguim, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, the UK, and the US. US dates include festivals such as Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Pointfest, and Rock On The Range. They also will go back to Europe around the end of May to play many festivals there as well! Go look at all their upcoming dates on the Bring me The Horizon official website. We're coming up on the 10th anniversary of Rob Zombie's third studio album, Educated Horses. The album came out on March 28, 2006, and it appears to have reached number five on the Billboard 200, the Canadian Album charts and Top Internet albums charts. When asked what the name of the album meant, Rob Zombie gave a rather interesting answer. "It was a weird kind of phrase, like, that I remembered as something as a kid. You know, my parents, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles, the whole family, were involved in carnival business and, like, circus business, so as a kid, we would get dragged to these things, and we'd have to spend all this time there. And that was just one of the attractions I remember, what they would call the trained animals, you know, educated horses." The lead single came out on Valentine's Day 2006, and is called "Foxy Foxy." Its fairly catchy, and is about a girl that I'm assuming he wanted. It doesn't sound bad, but at the same time, it doesn't exactly stand out that much to me either. For me, one of the stand out tracks is "The Scorpion Sleeps", which almost appears to be going through the day of a drug dealer, or maybe even an addict. I'm not sure exactly, but it sounds great, and definitely is attention grabbing. Another track worth mentioning is "Let It All Bleed Out." Which I imagine would be fabulous live and a great way to hype up a crowd. Chances are, mosh pits would break out. Over all, this album is okay. Definitely not his best worst, but its not terrible either. What do you think of this album? What do you think is his best work? Let us know! After you do that, be sure to head over to Rob Zombie's official website to see everything he has going on. He has a tour coming up very shortly with Disturbed, along with many festivals, such as Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, Rocklahoma and many more! Full tour dates and festival appearances are on the website, along with pre-order information for his brand new album, The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser. The album comes out on April 29, just one day before all the festival fun begins! Modern Vintage is the third album from the hard rock band, Sixx: AM. The album came out on October 7, 2014 and features a cover from The Cars. That actually happens to be the fourth single on this album, which didn't come out until April of 2015.
The first single from this album, "Gotta Get It Right" was released pn August 5, 2014. While it is a good song about life and wanting to do things over, it just doesn't stand out that much to me. For me, the stand out tracks are, "Relief", "Stars", and "High On The Music." "Relief" is one of those songs that remind you that things get better, even in the toughest of times when it feels like the world is never going to be right again. It always gets better, and relief always comes. They say it best in the chorus of the song, by saying, "In a little while, all the noise in your head will fade away and you will find some relief then. Yeah, you will find some relief then. And in a little while, all the weight in the world feels like a rain. And you will find some relief then." "Stars" is actually the third single from the album, and appears to be offering an escape by inviting someone to run away. "Do you want to see heaven tonight? Do you want to see the stars before they fall?" Its a creative invitation, and I thought it was rather beautiful. Then there's "High On The Music", which speaks of life, and how difficult it can be but also expresses what an escape music can be. Anything that acknowledges the power of music is an automatic win in my book. The album itself is very good over all, and we do recommend checking it out. While you're at it, please head on over to Sixx.AM's official website to see tour dates! Their tour with Disturbed and Rob Zombie begins with the festivals Welcome To Rockville and Fort Rock on April 30 and May 1, and goes through May 24. Just after the tour concludes, they will be playing at Rocklahoma, River City Rockfest and the KEGL's BFD 2016. During the tour, they will be appearing at Carolina Rebellion, 98.9 The Rock's Rockfest, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, MMRBQ Music Festival and Rock'n Derby. The fun doesn't stop there either! Just after the conclusion of the US tour and festivals, they head on over to Europe to play many festivals such as Gods Of Metal, Rock am Ring, Rock im Park, The Power Festival, Sweden Rock Festival, Isle Of Wright Festival, Download Fest, Konzertfabrik 27, Hellfest 2016, Grasspop Festival 2016, Gröna Lund, Tons Of Rock 2016, and Copenhell 2016. For further information, please visit the respective festival websites, and of course Sixx AM's official website for tour dates, and updates. Disturbed released their second album, Believe on September 17, 2002 and it debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. It sold nearly 250,000 copies in the first week alone and became their first of many number one hit albums. Since its release, it has gone double platinum here in the US, and continues to be well loved, along with the rest of the band's discography.
A lot of the lyrical connect focuses on religion, and spirituality, and is thought to be a perfect example of Disturbed growing as a band. Given, they only had one album prior to this, so that's a bit of a high claim. The lead single, "Prayer", sets up the album very well, and definitely does stand out on its own. Its a cry for help, which is what most religious people would turn to prayer for, hence the name. "Living just isn't hard enough. Burn me alive, inside. Living my life's not hard enough. Take everything away." While David doesn't sound sarcastic at all, saying life isn't hard enough is rather sarcastic, especially when you're begging for it all to just go away. Unfortunately, we've all felt like we were at the end of our rope before, and just wanted it all to go away, so that does make this track stand out a lot. A personal favorite of ours though is not a single at all, but we really like how it sounds and the lyrical content to go with it. That track is "Awaken", which appears to be calling someone out. "Awaken you, with a little evil inside. Feed on your nothing, you'll never live up to me. I've stricken you, I don't want to live with the lie. Feed on your nothing, and you'll never live up to me." Whoever is trying to tear you down is already below you -and they're never going to get on your level if they keep trying to rear you down. This song backs that up very well, and they did it in a quite badass, slightly dark way that we just love. Another track we absolutely have to mention is "Darkness", which is one of the few ballads in Disturbed's entire discography. Its absolutely beautiful, both musically, and lyrically. Its coming from a very dark place, while trying to find your way to be okay again. Words can't really describe it, its just best if you listen to it for yourself. Its no surprise to hear that Disturbed's second album was a hit, because if you know Disturbed, you know they are all around a hit and have yet to make a bad album. If you somehow have not heard anything from this album, please feel encouraged to check it out. While you're at it, head on over to their website to see everything they've got going on. They actually have a lot coming up here very soon. Disturbed is on tour right now with Saint Asonia now through the end of March, and then will be going out with Nonpoint and Mindset Evolution until the festival season kicks in. The festivals begin properly in late April, and go through out the summer. Below is a list of every festival they will be playing, be sure to check out each one to see the full lineups and locations. Ufest 2016, 98Rockfest, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range, and Rocklahoma. For any tour information, please head on over to Disturbed's official website. Just over sixteen years ago, 3 Doors Down made their debut with The Better Life. Its official release date was February 8 of the year 2000, and peaked at number 3, then dropped to number fifty-five, and then went back up to twenty four on the Billboard Hot 100. Since its realease, its sold nearly 6 million copies in the US alone and has gone platinum six times since its release. Pretty damn impressive, yes? That's just the start of 3 Doors Down's very successful career that just keeps growing. This album however does have what is one of the most iconic rock songs of the early 2000s. Or at least, its definitely one of those songs we think everyone knows, especially those who were a kid in the 2000s. That song is "Krypotonite", which needs no description because there's a high chance it just started playing in your head the second you saw that word. Just for the soul fact that its an iconic song for this generation, its just a given that "Krypotonite" is a stand out track. I found it rather hard to pick out stand out tracks for this one, just because its one of the only albums from 3 Doors Down I can say I have listened to over and over again through out the year in full. I hate to just pick out the singles as stand out tracks, but in this case, I think that's somewhat the route I'm going to go with. They must have done a good job picking singles because I really do think, "Loser" and "Be Like That" stand out a lot. The whole album is very good though, over all. Its not something I think to turn on very often, but its not something I'm going to turn off either. If you somehow have never hear it, check out the album, and all of 3 Doors Down's other work that they've released over the last few years. While you're at it, head on over to their official website to see everything they've got going on. Coming up very soon on March 20, they will be playing a free show at Universal Studios in Orlando, FL, and then just a few weeks later will be going on tour. The tour goes from April 8 through May 13, and in the mist of that tour will be several festival performances. They will be playing at Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock,Carolina Rebellion, Rocklahoma and Bands In The Backyard. Further information can be found on 3 Doors Down's website or the respective festival websites. Also be sure to check out our other reviews of later works from 3 Doors Down. We haven't done many of them just yet, but we're working on it. So far we have done; 3 Doors Down, and Time Of My Life, so please check them out and stay tuned for more. Red Sun Rising released their Into Forever EP back in 2013. We couldn't find a lot of information on the internet but Red Sun Rising themselves spoke up about it and told us that this is one of their independent releases, that they put out before signing with Razor And Tie. They told me that they actually have three independent EPs, including this one, and two full length albums. With that, and unreleased content, they have upwards of 80 or 90 songs, and over the years have combed back through it. Which explained a lot to us, honestly.
We actually only could find three out of the five songs, and one of them we had previously heard before. The third track on the album, "Emotionless" is later featured on their second full length album, Polyester Zeal, which came out in 2015. The track is beautiful, which is why we can totally understand why they used it again on a later release. That being said, we did also find the studio versions of "Illusions" and "Love Is To Blame", and over all liked what we heard. Definitely wouldn't go so far as to say its their best work we've ever heard, but its a decent EP. The best track on the EP is probably, "Illusions" or "Emotionless", just for the subject matter. "Illusions" speaks of showing the world who you are and not putting on a mask to be something you're not. Which is something I definitely enjoy. "Emotionless" on the other hand, we're not going to talk about too much. It was a stand out track for their 2015 release, Polyester Zeal as well, so if you want to see what we said about that, please click here to read that review. Have you heard this EP? What did you think of it? Or, what do you think of Red Sun Rising in general. Please feel free to let us know, and while you're at it be sure to check out Red Sun Rising's official website. They have a lot of festivals coming up very soon that they are performing at! The festivals include Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock,Carolina Rebellion, and Rock On The Range coming up this May! Further information can be found on the respective websites. Also, big thanks to Red Sun Rising themselves for giving us the information on this EP that we could not find. We appreciate that greatly! Just over seven years ago, Lamb Of God released their fifth studio album, Wrath. It came out on February 23, 2009 through Epic Records and reached number 2 on the Billboard 200.
Lamb Of God actually received a Grammy nomination in 2010 for the second single on this album, "Set To Fail", and then again for "In Your Words" the following year. They unfortunately lost to Judas Priest the first year, and then Iron Maiden in 2011, but getting nominated for a Grammy alone is such an honor. Honestly, I can see why "Set To Fail" was nominated. Its pointing the finger back at someone who's targeting you. They're hurting others because they're lost and out of luck. This is probably the first Lamb Of God song I can geniunely say I've enjoyed. The lyrics are good, the instrumentals are powerful, but yet you can still hear the meaning. Its felt like in some other works that the meaning was drowned out completely, and that is a damn shame if you ask me. That being said, I found this album easier to listen to than anything else I've heard from Lamb Of God so far. Given, I am still fairly new to their music, but still. More of the meanings were showing through, and the talent all around in the style. Would I voluntarily turn this on while riding in the car or scrolling through the internet? No probably not, but I could see this album in particular growing on me to the point where maybe I wouldn't turn it off either. I see the appeal, its just not my normal taste. Definitely the best I've heard out of them yet. If anyone has any recommendations for Lamb Of God songs, please feel free to leave them in the comments, or post on my Facebook or Twitter. I would love to hear some suggestions! Maybe I could get into them, who knows? Before you do that though, be sure to head over to Lamb Of God's official website to see everything they've got going on. They will be going out on tour with Clutch and Corrosion of Conformity May 3, through June 7, and will be performing at Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville,Carolina Rebellion, Rock On The Range,Northern Invasion, Rock'n Derby, and Bonnaroo. Further information can be found on Lamb Of God's website or the respective festival websites! Throw back to August 2011! Between August 2 and August 9, Trivium released their fifth studio album, In Waves around the world. The album managed to reach number one on three different US American charts, and broke the top 100 worldwide. So, over all, I would say that's quite the success. The lead single, and title track, "In Waves" was released on May 21, 2011, and while it stood as decent introduction to the album, I wouldn't have made it a single. There's nothing special about it to me, if I'm honest. Now the second single, "Built To Fall", hell yes! I see the appeal! Its about taking someone down, assumably after they've done you wrong. You feel yourself falling apart, but instead realize they're the ones who are the problem, and you just want it to end. The chorus says it all, really. "Take away every single pain that infects each and every day. I will bury you once and for all. You're a monster, you're built to fall." It also touches on the whole topic of feeling for the person, but at the same time, totally letting go with just one lyric. "I don't want to hate you, but you killed off everything in my heart." That's probably the perfect way to tell someone you're done when enough is enough. Another stand out track to us was, "Incepetion Of The End", because it empowers people to keep going even when they think its hopeless, even when they're scared. "Don't lose focus, because we are half way there. Incepetion of the end, sacrifice all your fear." There's just something about that lyric that really speaks to me and I greatly enjoy it. This album, along with a bunch of other works from Trivium is very good and we are looking forward to hopefully seeing them at the 2016 Fort Rock Festival. You can hopefully see them too somewhere near you, because they have a lot going on. Starting on March 20, they will be performing all around the UK with Heart of a Coward and As Lions. They then have dates in Japan, and Australia before coming back to the US to play festivals such as Earth Day Birthday, Welcome To Rockville, Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion, Rock On The Range and Rock N' Derby!, and tour with Sevendust and Like A Storm. For further information, please check out the respective websites and Trivium's ofical website. Reason to believe (believe it or not), is the ninth album from the punk rock band, Pennywise. The album came out on March 25, 2008 around the world as a free download through Myspace. A standard version with two bonus tracks was released later on. The album peaked at number 98 here in the US, and number 46 in Australia, which made it the second lowest chart position they had received since their 1995 release, About Time.
Why that is, I'm not sure. Over all, it received good reviews, and I enjoyed what I heard over all. Given, I have only heard sporadic albums through out their entire discography, but I think they did quite well. The lead single, "The Western World", speaks of how our world is rather screwed up, especially when it comes to televison. Its not an unheard of topic, but still very really and they did it very well. Another track I would like to point out is not a single and should have been one. It has that classic punk rock sound, but it comes from a very dark place. "Give me something to live for, we're finding a way out of the shadows." Its a very fast paced cry for help and honestly, its very well done and I have to give it its props. The whole album is great, and anyone that enjoy punk rock will definitely love this or surely any other album from Pennywise. If you're interested, you can catch them live at many different spots. They will playing three shows next week in LA, and then will be playing in many different locations starting in early April. Full dates can be found on their website, but many of the dates are festival appearances. The festival appears are Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and Rock On The Range. Head on over to the respective websites for more information, and as I said, more dates can be found on Pennywise's official website. |
InformationAll reviews have the date they were written, the album title, and the band's name, with the exception of Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace and Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin. Those dates were guessed at, as they were written well before the website began. Archives
