Falling In Reverse's much anticipated, 2011, debut album, The Drug In Me Is
You impressed me greatly. As songs were being put online, I was listening to them, and at first I was not impressed. It was great to hear Ronnie Radke back in action again, but I wasn't totally feeling the album. When I first heard the album, the only song I remotely liked was the highly sexual song, "Good Girls Bad Guys". Then I got the album, and decided to give it all a shot, not expecting to like any of it. I was dead wrong. Ronnie Radke is is back, and honestly doing better than ever. This metalcore sound works better for Ronnie, compared to the post-hardcore sound he had with Escape The Fate. The lyrics really spoke to me too, you can tell Ronnie had a lot of emotion in him while he was writing during his two years in jail. A lot of the album sounds angry, espeically the song "Caught Like A Fly." It can be determined that "Caught Like A Fly" is about his ex-best friend, and band mate, Max Green. That can be determinded by the line, "Your Grandfather would probably roll in his grave if he knew of that person that you have became." The grammar isn't the best, but anyone who's followed the whole Ronnie and Max debacle may know that Max was raised by his grandfather. I also really loved the beginning where Ronnie says, "I've got a couple things I'd like to get off my chest. (Ha-ha) Friends? Who the fuck needs them? You know who you are." You can just hear the passion in his voice, and anyone who has been stabbed in the back by a friend knows what its like to be so done that you feel you don't need friends. There's not a single song on the album I dislike, nor do I exactly have a favorite. If I was pressed to choose, it'd be between "Good Girls Bad Guys", "The Drug In Me Is You", or "I'm Not A Vampire". Ronnie shows a lot of insight on all the songs on the album. That is, with the exception of "Good Girls Bad Guys", as that is just a fun and highly explicit song. Throughout the album he poses thought provoking questions, such as, "What if the devil was a lie, what if God did not exsist?" in "Sink Or Swim". The album gives you a look into Ronnie Radke's very soul, his heart, and his brain. He poured himself into his songs. Ladies and Gentleman, Ronnie Radke has made one hell of a comeback! I give this album five stars, and I do recommend it.
