I Prevail released a new song today! This is not attached to a new album, front man Brian has made that perfectly clear recently while doing a Facebook Live stream. This song though is a collaboration with Illenium and Excision. Neither of which were bands I happened to be familiar with. This song came with a music video, which was recorded while they were in Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards a couple months ago. For those unaware, they were nominated for two Grammy Awards. One for best Metal album, and one for best metal song. Unfortunately they did not win, but its still a massive honor just to be nominated. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, so please check out "Feel Something." below before reading on. The video feels a little random, looks like a post-apocalyptic world with just an eagle and a dinosaur for some reason. Its a known fact that a lot of I Prevail's work is centered around depression, anxiety and general life struggles, and given the name, I am sure I do not have to explain the song to anyone.
I don't get the music video, it feels a little pointless. But I do like the song. I won't say its their best work, but I don't see this being one of those songs I listen to one time and never again. It feels like nothing I Prevail has ever done, which makes sense, they were not the only ones who had a hand in it. Check out the song, and give us your thoughts as well!

Just today Falling In Reverse released a re-imagined version of one of their very first singles, "The Drug In Me Is You", which is a piano version of the song. This was not actively talked about, though Ronnie Radke did announce a new song was coming last night in Fort Lauderdale just before walking off stage. They also opened with this version of the song, and may or may not be doing so every night of the tour. I thought it was somewhat random, yet pretty live. This is not the type of song you ever expect to hear slowed or tone down. Be sure to watch the video before continuing to read on. There are spoilers on the video and song, so if you don't want spoilers, stop reading now and watch the video. The video is rather simple, mostly just Ronnie playing piano in the snow, with some ballet dancers and some violins. How does everyone feel about it? I actually really like the vocal style of it, it really brings out his passion and is working in Ronnie Radke's favor, in my opinion.
There was an unexpected switch at the end, as it stays almost on the same toned down beat, but then screaming begins. I'm actually not the biggest fan of Ronnie's scream, but his singing voice is beautiful, I have to admit. What do you think of this re-imagined version? Do you like this, or do you wish they would have left it alone? Would you like to hear more music like this from Falling In Reverse? Let us know in the comments down below, or over on Facebook. Personally, I think this was completely unnecessary but pretty none the less. Its not what I would have ever imagined for a revisited version of this song. I would have pictured this being redone on the opposite side of the scale and being rather heavy. Either way, I like it. Also, as I mentioned this was announced in Fort Lauderdale last night, and the reason I know that was because I was there! Stay tuned because I'm working on a whole recap of the night, and I have a handful of videos from the entire show (Including this song done both ways!) that will be coming soon to YouTube. So stay tuned for that, the recap will be over in the Creator's Blog, and if you haven't subscribed to the YouTube channel yet, go do so to stay up to date with that. We'll be back very soon with more content. 2020 seems to the year of bands being oddly cryptic for absolutely no reason when it comes to their announcements. My Chemical Romance has been doing it for months, and then randomly made their comeback. We're still waiting them to announce that North American tour that they're obviously sitting on. Rammstein seems to be doing the exact same thing, and now All Time Low has been doing it as well. They've been posting short videos on their YouTube for the past week, and have recently changed all their social media profile pictures to solid black. We get it, you're edgy and you want our attention. Lucky for you and us as well I assume, we're listening. Today they have released a brand new song called, "Some Kind Of Disaster" with the foot note of; "The Young Renegades are no more.... Reintroducting your favorite disaster, All Time Low. We took a step away for a minute -did some growing, did some soul searching, some healing...Now we're back and ready to be all yours again, our battle scares worn proudly, and our hair looking much than ever. (Its best if you just agree.) We've missed you all so much, and we're so excited for what comes next. Feels like we've been keeping secrets from you for far too long....Been hard to keep our mouths shut, honestly. Its a song and dance we've done a thousand times before, but this one feels extra-good. Besides, its never the same dance twice. Hope you dig this new song as much as we do...After all, its all for you." Check out the song down below, and stay tuned because they've clearly got big things coming our way. Also head on over to the creator's blog, where we break down the music video and share our thoughts on the brand new song. The Word Alive is planning on releasing their sixth album, Monomania on February 21, and have a lot going for them right now. For starters, they have released the title track with a music video, which is what I'm going to be talking about today. Before we get into that though, I also wanted to mention that they're going on tour with Falling In Reverse and Escape The Fate very soon, and we will actually be going to it! We're going to the February 12 date, in Fort Lauderdale, FL but the tour actually begins February 8 and goes through March 4. If you want tickets, head on over to Falling In Reverse's website. I imagine tickets are going to sell out, as the prices seem to vary quite a bit from venue to venue. Now, let's get into "Monomania." I've never actually been the biggest fan of The Word Alive and they've had a handful of lineup changes over the years. This video reminds me heavily of Twenty One Pilots, but the song definitely doesn't. I do think it'll take a few listens before I fully like it, but I don't dislike it now. Lyrically I quite like what I'm catching, which is not every lyric. But it does pose a question I think all of us have thought of at some point. "Will I ever be good enough for me?" I listened to it a couple times while putting together this article, and I definitely see it growing on me. The name might give away what the song is about, but its the internal struggle. The constant inner monologue that comes with dealing with life. Maybe its because I've never kept up with The Word Alive much, but I don't exactly know how I feel about this. Ironically as I was watching the music video and writing this, I was chatting with a friend about them and she had not heard this song yet and asked if Tyler Smith screams in this one. She also expressed that he's really good at it, and ironically, I had just gotten to that part of the song and was a bit uncertain of how I felt about his vocal style. Considering I didn't immediately turn it off though, I'm calling it a win. I'll probably look into The Word Alive more, as I don't think I've heard most of their discography actually. Just songs here and there. Stay tuned, maybe I'll do some reviews, I think I've only done reviews for their very early work that features Craig Mabbitt. Once again this is the title track for Monomania that's coming out February 21, and if anyone is interested there will be twelve songs on the album, and the track listing is as follows. 1. Monomania 2. No Way Out 3. Searching For Glory 4. Another Year In The Shadows 5. Greatest Almost 6. Thank you 7. Numb Love (Misery II) 8. K.F 9. Burning Your World Down 10. Comfort & Change 11. I'm sorry You're Sorry Now 12. Death Is The Only End If You Assume The Story Is About You I admit, after looking at the titles for the tracks and hearing what Tyler had to say regarding the new album, I'm much more interested. "When you listen to our new music, I hope you have a better understanding of our entire career. Maybe you can see the whole story and realize that we're not that different from you. We've been through it all, but we're trying to learn, grow, and leave something behind we feel will help people. This is our purest work. This is everything we've been through the last couple of years. It's the best conclusion to the last 10 years and the best opening to the next 10." I can completely get behind that. We'll have to see what happens next. Please watch the video for "Monomania" and share your thoughts with me below. While you're at it, if you're already a fan of The Word Alive, leave song suggestions for me, as I definitely plan on giving them more of a shot very soon. It's been three years since the release of A Day To Remember's Bad Vibrations -time flies right? I had not even noticed that it had been that long. Today however, they broke that hiatus with a very interesting collab featuring the ever popular EDM artist, Marshmello. The song dropped right at midnight last night, and had been left unprompted. Check out the video below to check out ADTR on the beach with Marshmello. Warning: Please pause to watch the video before reading on, as my thoughts on the song and video are below. Spoilers may occur! Lyrics:
Never been safe but I’ve never gone closer Another year down and another year older A million fresh starts, what I needed was closure, yeah I lost who I was but I found my composure, yeah When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Call it high-strung, started uppin’ my dosage We’re way too young to be feelin’ this hopeless You were my light in the sinless ocean, yeah Feelin’ alive, even just for this moment, yeah When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me (What the—?) When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me You can pull an S.O.S., O.S. You can pull an S.O.S., O.S. When I found you I found me Nothin’ around, far as I could see You were the current that carried me When I found you I found me Lost in the sands, only you can read My S.O.S., yeah, you rescued me Rescue me Lyrically, I absolutely love the song. You can easily see why though, its a love song, which is something ADTR doesn't usually do. Its very sweet, but the very obvious EDM beat is distracting me some. Its not a genre I'm overly familiar with, therefor rarely listen to. That being said, I feel like this song flows very nicely, and while it does feel like a detachment from ADTR's usual vibe, it does not feel unnatural. I'm enjoying this enough that I'm finding myself wondering what the next album will be like. This collaboration feels a bit random, yet not wrong in any way. A Day To Remember, you have my, and surely many other's attention. Guess we all have to stayed tuned for more, but meanwhile, you can catch ADTR on tour right now with Knocked Loose, and catch them at the Self Help Festival at two different locations this year. They're taking the festival to Worcester, MA on September 7 and San Bernardino, CA on October 12. For more information, head on over to their official website, as long as the Self Help website. Good lord, is it 2008 again?? The internet is swirling with talk of the Jonas Brothers, they're number one in iTunes, and have just released a brand new song! Be still my little fangirl heart, be still. In all seriousness, most of you probably don't give a shit, or are frankly irritated by the fact that the internet is once more obsessing over these three boys. I however, am living my best life with this. You probably were unaware that I was once the Queen of the Jonas Brothers fandom at one point. That's a bit exaggeration, but I was definitely over the top obsessed with them for several years. I'm sure I've talked about this some over the years, as it seriously was my life for my entire teenage years, pretty much. That being said, since I grew past that, expanded my music taste, and of course, started this whole journalism thing, I've tried to shy away from such talk. I didn't want to be seen as 'unprofessional' or fangirly in anyway. But you know what? Its 2019, bitches and I can admit that I was a hardcore JB fangirl back in the day, and I feel confident saying that thanks to the entire internet that's freaking the hell out. So thanks internet, I feel great right now! Now that I got that out of my system, Jesus. Sorry. I had to have a moment with myself, I suppose. Yeah, that was definitely me just talking to myself. So hello. Hi, to anyone that's actually reading this absolute nonsense. I hope you're amused by this, but now I actually do really want to talk about their new song, "Sucker." When it was announced, of course I got excited. Its pretty obvious every former JB fangirl did, but I was also a little skeptical about it. If I'm totally honest, I am not in love with Nick Jonas' solo stuff, nor am I in love with Joe's new band DNCE. Both are fine, there's nothing wrong with either in any way, but neither have really held my attention. So, with that in mind, I was fully expecting to be disappointed with their comeback, and find myself binging all the old music for the rest of the day. That still may happen, admittedly, but I actually was happily surprised with the new song. Its not the old style, but that's understandable. Their last album came out in 2009, and Nick wasn't even an adult yet. Now they're all grown adults, two of them are married, one of them is engaged, another has two children and a business from what I've heard, so of course the music is going to change. That is just a proven fact, and frankly if they came back on the scene with a redone version of "S.O.S." people would freak out about it for a week max and move on like it never happened. When the song first started, I was intently listening, but also found my self thinking, "Ehh, I don't know about this." Lyrically, its a sweet song, clearly written about one (or possibly all) of their significant others. Its a simple song, with a more modern pop style, which usually wouldn't have held my attention at all more than likely. I'll be completely honest with you, most new pop doesn't hold my attention. Every now and then there's an exception, but it does tend to be few and far between. There really isn't that much to this song, but it is catchy. When I was first listening to it, I honestly found myself thinking I just want to hear more. This song is catchy, and cute, so that's good, but it doesn't have depth. It doesn't have any deep meaning, and I'm sure there's some people who are probably thinking this is the typical Jonas Brothers song. Catchy, and kind of cute, but nothing too special. As someone who's heard every song they've ever released, I know they're capable of better lyrics. Which is why I think this is a good, strong comeback because its attention grabbing, but I definitely hope there's more to the album than this. There's no announcement as of yet for a new album, but that information will surely be coming soon. Something else I just wanted to talk about for a brief second was the video. Some of the comments were saying they clearly don't have the budget for models anymore, as the girls in the video are not these flawless women. What isn't really mentioned is those women are their wives and fiancees. I thought that was very sweet, especially since Kevin has been married for nine years, and aside from the TV show he and Danielle had for a little while, she has never really been involved with the limelight. Joe and Nick's women are both famous in their own right, but Danielle isn't. Anyway, I literally had to talk about this, and I'm not sure anyone even cares about this at all. If you do, the video is right there, and I must say, I'm kind of happy about this right now. Writing this was a lot of fun, and I haven't had this much fun writing in a while. I was trying to write about a show I went to a last week, and I just couldn't do it. Maybe I'll be able to soon, but meanwhile here was this. There's been a trend lately all around YouTube where people tried doing certain things for an entire week. Sometimes its something random and silly, sometimes its educational and meant to be enlightening. Sometimes it brings awareness, or sometimes it brings nothing but sheer entertainment. State Champs got involved in that madness last week, and let YouTuber, Michelle Khare join their band for a full week. She vlogged the entire experience and helped them with some promo for their brand new album, Living Proof. I won't bore you with the details, when you can definitely just watch it all. They included her in as much as they possibly could, asked a lot of genuine questions to give some insight into the life, and talked to some fans. Take a look. They even got her to perform their song, "Criminal" and tried to teach her drums. I can only imagine how exciting and much fun this must have been for her, and as someone who's seen some insight into the musician life, I love that someone is putting that out there in full. It really shows people not only the fun parts, but the hard work that goes into it.
If you're interested in more, please head on over to Michelle's channel. She appears to do a bunch of week long challenges that include all kinds of things. These things include training, meditation, living without the internet, and all sorts of other things. Don't forget too that you can catch State Champs on the final run of the Vans Warped tour now through August 5. Its coming to a close very soon, so if you are able to go, I highly recommend you do it. If you can't catch them on Warped tour, don't fret, they will be on tour with Blink 182 in September. For more information head on over to State Champ's official website, and be sure to pick up Living Proof. Its available right now wherever you choose to get your music. Motionless In White has released another single from their upcoming album, Graveyard Shift! The first one was called "Eternally Yours", and this one is called "Loud. (Fuck It)" Below is the music video for the new song, and we highly recommend you check it out. You can pre-order Graveyard Shift right now on Motionless In White's official website.

While you're there, be sure to check out their newest single, "Let You Down." Seether finally announced their brand new album, which we were all waiting for anxiously! The album announcement came with a release date, pre-order information, a track listing and a new song! The album is called Poison The Parish and will be released on May 12, but four different pre-order bundles are available now. To go with this is a new song, "Let You Down" which follows suit with some of their older works in being very dark. Head on over to the Creator's Blog to read more about that -but please be sure to listen to it for yourself below to avoid spoilers! When doing my research for this article, all I found was the deluxe edition, which features fifteen songs.
The Poison Level one features a handful of things, such as the obvious album and T-shirts, but also a handmade Poison The Parish collectible latex figure, a 18 x 24 signed Poison The Parish artwork poster, an engraved wooden book box, and a Seether skeleton key bottle opener. That bundle is $350 and very limited. The figurines are limited edition, there's only 50 of them going to be made worldwide. As for the Cult Leader bundle, its $1,200 and features all the same stuff as the Poison level, and a custom Poison The Parish Shaun Morgan Artist Series Schecter guitar. Only five are going to be made all together, and it is made to be a replica of Shaun's guitar. Only five of those are being made, and that is where most of the price comes from. Two other bundles are available and we encourage you to go check them out over on the official website, along with "Let You Down" which is below. All of this is very exciting and much overdue. We're excited to hear more from Seether, and we encourage everyone to go check it out. And remember that Seether will be performing at several festivals such as Fort Rock, Welcome To Rockville, Carolina Rebellion and the fifth annual Rise Above Fest.
For further information, please head on over to Seether's official website, or the respective festival websites. |
