Hey, everyone! I’m assuming you are here because you have just come from the Immortal Music Awards 2013 edition. If you haven’t , I recommend doing that now. If you don’t wish to yet, and just want to hear my opinions on who really should have won, that’s fine too. There will be a few spoilers though. You had your warning, now I will continue on with what I wished to say.
2013 is coming to an end and tomorrow (December 31, 2013) I will put up a recap video of sorts for my year on my YouTube, but this, as you already know, is about the Immortal Music awards for this year. All the answers were chosen by people through Facebook, I did not help at all. Because of that, there were a few things I did want to change, and a few things I totally agreed with. Something I agreed with completely was Jack Barakat winning the award of ‘Hottest female.’ He was oddly nominated for that for the Kerrang! Awards earlier this year, and was beat out by Lzzy Hale. While Jack is not a female in any way, shape, or form, I found it to be amusing that he was nominated and I really wished he’d win. Apparently so did many others, as he did definitely win this time around. Of course, Immortal Music is no Kerrang!, but its still something. Besides that, Jack Barakat knows how to rock a dress better than most females, he deserves it. I don’t want to bore anyone, so I am just going to breeze through this as quickly as possible. In my eyes, the most underrated bands of this year were Sunshine And Bullets, Art Of Dying, and Adam Gontier and his backup band. Hands down, I just think they all deserve so much more credit than they currently receive and I hope to bring the attention to them all. For the best album of 2013, I actually think Common Courtesy from A Day To Remember should have won over From Death To Destiny from Asking Alexandria. While I do agree that it was a great album, I really connected with Common Courtesy a lot. I don’t have to get into that though; I have a review on that here on the site, if anyone is interested in hearing more of my thoughts on the album. For best bassist, I personally would have said Zack Merrick of All Time Low or Jaime Preciado of Pierce The Veil. That might be due to the fact that I saw them perform live with their bands this year, and that they are from two of my favorite bands, but that’s why everyone seems to choose who they choose for these things. For the best instrument company, I have to say Gibson over Fender. That being said, I don’t really have a reason for that, as I don’t play anything. I just am partial to Gibson guitars for some reason. Personally, I would have said the best video of the year was actually All Time Low’s “A Love Like War”, not “The Death Of Me.” From Asking Alexandria. While I love the song, and I love the video version of the song, I’m not a huge fan of the video itself. I really liked the video for “A Love Like War”, I don’t really know why, I just did. Before anyone asks, no I am not just playing favorites because All Time Low is one of my favorite bands. I just like the style of the video, I suppose. Someone out there is nodding in agreement, I can tell. That also brings me to the favorite lyric of 2013. The winner was from “A Love Like War”, but I personally think there was one better. “Cast your stones, cast your judgement, you don’t make me who I am.” –Sometimes You’re The Hammer, Sometimes You’re The Nail by A Day To Remember. That lyric spoke volumes to me. So much so that I do have it tattooed on my body. I also really liked the whole part leading up to the quote above, and everything that followed it. It was just beautiful to me, and I really felt it deserved some sort of honorable mention. For the best clothing company, I personally, wanted to go with Glamour Kills. This is because I really like the designs that come out of that company a lot. The best band is a hard one to choose, and I’m still not sure I have an answer for that. There’s so many that deserve it, so I don’t think I’m going to choose one. However, for the best singer of the year, I want to go with Adam Gontier. Without that man, I would not be leading the life I live today, and his lyrics have gotten me personally through a lot in my life. This year was no different. Also, I just want to say bravo to whoever it was that said P!nk. I’m glad to see a little diversity in the mix this time around. I don’t wish to change anything else, or bore anyone else so I will just leave you now. Thank you very much for voting and for your support all year! It means a lot to me, more than I can even say. So, here’s to a new year, and here’s hoping its better than this year! Thanks a lot!
