Hilary Duff is back at it again! Hilary was once an overly popular name in the entertainment world. Between her music career, and all the acting she did, her name was honestly everywhere. Since the release of her 2007 album, Dignity, she's remained quiet in the music industry. Though, that does not mean she has been inactive in other ways. In that time, she has married, had an adorable baby boy, and wrote a novel trilogy. Now, she is back with a new single, and there has been promise of a new album later this year. There has been rumors that on said album will be a collaboration between Ed Sheeran and Hilary Duff. That is something many fans cannot wait for. The new song is called, "Chasing The Sun" and the video for it has a very familar feel to it. Its actually very reminiscent of her character, Lizzie McGuire, but in a grown up, office setting. This sound works for Hilary, and is more similar to older sounds than the 2007 album. Which is a nice thing to hear, actually.
So, what do you think? Do you like the new song? Are you glad Hilary is back in the music world? Or do not you even care? Leave your thoughts in the comments!

The Jonas Brothers might be broken up, but their reputation of being innocent Christian boys has stuck with them. They're proving that they are much more than that. The Jonas Brothers, as a band broke up last October, but both Nick and Joe have stayed semi active in the music world. Joe has stated that they sound that they had for their entire career was not what they wanted to do at all and both Nick and Joe are going to begin making the music they wanted. Nick has officially released a song, called "Chains" and this is certainly not an innocent 'Disney' kid song. The song is rather sexual, though he claims its about chains in life. Nick was quoted saying, “Everyone has their own chains, in life and in love, that bind them and this song embodies that feeling,” However, while that might be his intent for the song, that is not the only meaning here. He flat out says, "You've got me in chains for your love." and asks, "Tell me why I want you to do me wrong." Yes, there's emotional meaning to that, but its extremely sexual as well. He knows that, you can tell just by the way its sung.
The sound is a bit unexpected for him, but not bad. Its got the Fall Out Boy twist, that actually should have always existed in JB's music. Nick Jonas once said a big factor on him wanting to learn to play guitar was actually seeing Fall Out Boy live. The vibe is more of their modern music, not older, mixed with Chris Brown a bit. Feel free to check the song out now on Soundcloud. Nick Jonas is now signed to Island Records, and is working on new music. There will also be a video for this song coming out soon. Its been said that its quite 'racy', and judging by the content of the song, it just seems fitting. Immortal Music simply cannot wait to see what's in store. The rapidly growing, Australian pop rock band, 5 Seconds Of Summer is widely inspired by bands such as All Time Low and Mayday Parade. The band is featured on the September edition of Alternative Press and they apparently asked a handful of bands their thoughts on them. Alex Gaskarth was one of the ones asked, and conversations via Twitter between members of All Time Low and members of 5SOS show that they clearly have a mutual enjoyment of one another's music. It appears as though AP asked Alex how he'd feel about opening up for a band that is several years younger than every member of his own band. While some might have an issue supporting a band of teenagers and younger adults, Alex appears to have no problem with this. (And you shouldn't. Age does not determine your success and you should never feel threatened by the success of someone else. Even if they're five or more years younger than you. It doesn't change your success, nor should it make you feel degraded. Success comes for different people, at different times in their lives, and in differing ways.) Not long after the picture shown above was posted, Alex tweeted saying, "Don't get all riled up, folks; It's not a tour announcement. Just saying that we're never above opening up for a new, successful band..." Which just goes right along with what he said to Alternative Press. Just one hour later, however, he sparked the interest of fans by saying, "Speaking of tour, we have some amazing things in the works for 2015. I think you're all gonna be stoked." This leads many to believe that there will definitely be a tour with 5SOS and All Time Low in 2015. However, try not to get your hopes up too high, as nothing has been guaranteed yet. This is nothing more than an assumption for right now. Would this be something you'd be interested in? Would you go see a tour with 5 Seconds Of Summer and All Time Low? Leave your thoughts!
The music community has been buzzing about the first annual APMA's, especially now that they are done and over with. The Alternative Press Music Awards occured on July 21, 2014, and had performances from Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, Sleeping With Sirens, Fall Out Boy, Yellowcard members, Asking Alexandria, and more. Awards were accepted, covers and original hits were performed and over all, it sounded like a great time. In case you didn't get a chance to watch all the fun go down, Alternative Press has posted a bunch of highlight footage on their YouTube channel in a playlist, and the social media accounts for almost every nominee and performer were exploding with photographs and general nonsense as the festivities began. Feel free to check out all the footage below. The night was kicked off by the Contemporart Youth Orchestra playing a compilation of songs. All of which not songs you'd think would be picked for an orchestra featuring violins and harps would play. They played; 1."Still Into You" - Paramore 2. "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light 'Em Up)" - Fall Out Boy 3. "Shadow Moses" - Bring Me The Horizon 4. "Alone" - Sleeping With Sirens 5. "Alone" - Falling In Reverse 6. "A Love Like War" - All Time Low Due to all the hype from bands and fans alike, '#APMAs' ended up being a trending topic on Facebook and Twitter. Below is a gallery of pictures taken revolving around the APMAs that have been found through Facebook and Twitter. Pictures came from all over, and were taken by all sorts of people, including professional photographers and band members alike. (Immortal Music owns nothing.) Many more pictures can be found via every social media site, and Alternative Press shared some of their favorites from the night on their website.
Among incredible performances, and awards being given out, some honorable mentions needed to go out to some. Oli Sykes spoke out about a drug addiction he has over come, and took a moment to thank his fans because they unknowingly helped get him through a very dark time in his life. He did not want the public to know about this addiction while he was living with it, but decided to come clean about it at the APMAs. This too was recorded, and more information can be found here. Andy Biersack, accepted the award for Most Dedicated Fans for Black Veil Brides and actually gave it away to a lucky fan. He was quoted saying, “I know that we are not always the most popular band to everyone, but to our fanbase, they have given us a chance to have a career, you’ve given us a chance to do anything—you’ve given me -a kid from Ohio- a chance to stand on this stage. So thank you so much to the BVB Army. Therefore, I feel that I should not be holding this. So I’d like to give this to one of you who’s a Black Veil Brides fan.” The girl he chose to give it to, could not have looked more thrilled, as she was seen jumping up and down with a look of total shock on her face as he walked away. Andy had a valid point, its the fans that earned that award, because they're the ones that are entirely dedicated to their support. This, for those interested is a list of every winner of each award for the evening. Best Vocalist presented by Victory Records – Brendon Urie, Panic! Who would you like to see nominated for various things next year? Do you have thoughts on this year's APMAs. Leave your thoughts and comments either here or on Facebook. In the news today, is another report of a drug addicted rockstar. It appeared to be nothing more than a claim, until Oli Sykes tweeted an article about it, not once but twice. Neither time did he deny that it was true. The first time, he simply posted the article, and the second time, he just commented on the fact that they tried to censor his cussing, but forgot to censor the last "fuck" he said.
Oli has been quoted saying, “I want to say something that I never thought I’d actually talk about. Before we wrote ‘Sempiternal’ I was a fucking drug addict. I was addicted to a drug called ketamine; I was on it for years and I was fucked off my head. My band wanted to kill me, my parents wanted to kill me and my fucking brother wanted to kill me; everyone wanted to kill me, everybody wanted to fucking take me to hell, but they didn’t. They stood by me, they supported me through all of that shit, and we wrote ‘Sempiternal’ because of it. No one fucking knows, no one fucking knows this, but I went to rehab for a month, and through that time, as well as my fucking band and my family, you guys – you had no fucking idea that I was in rehab – but you were sending me letters, you were sending me texts, you were sending me fucking emails. And when I got out of that rehab I didn’t want to fucking scream anymore, I wanted to sing it from the fucking rooftops. And it’s all thanks to you, so thank you very much.” That actually explains the change in sound all fans saw on the Sempiternal album, and frankly, it worked out in their favor. Good for Oli for getting himself help, and being appreciative of all the support he had from fans, family, and friends. For those who do not know, ketamine is usually used on animals and comes in either a powder or liquid form. It can be injected, consumed in drinks, snorted, or added to joints or cigarettes. Ketamine has also been used as a 'date rape' drug, as it often creates a dream like state where users find it difficult to move. Side effects of short or long term use increased heart rate and blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, numbness, depression, amnesia, hallucinations and potentially fatal respiratory problems. That actually probably played a big factor in why Oli has previously had obvious depression and such. Good job, Oli. We're all proud of you for taking care of yourself. Keep it up, and sing it for the world. As of July 22, Anberlin has officially released their seventh and final album. Lowborn is out now, and is available for purchase wherever music is sold. The Ramones, were an incredibly popular rock band had their reign from the mid seventies to the mid nineties have proven to leave an imprint on the world for good. Their drummer, Tommy Ramone passed away on Friday, July 11 at age 62. He had been battling bile-duct cancer, and had been in the care of a hospice for some time.
He was the last remaining member of The Ramones, and lived much longer than his band mates. Joey Ramone was the first to pass on due to cancer, at age 49 in 2001. Dee Dee followed in 2002, and died of an apparent drug overdose. He was also 49. Then in 2004, cancer also took the life of 52 year old Johnny Ramone. Rest In Peace to The Ramones, they're all together once more. An interview has come out today that Gerard Way has begun making a very unexpected solo album. This album will have a Brit-Pop feel to it, rather than the semi expected sound that My Chemical Romance kept for most of their career. Gerard has said its going to be a fight here in the US, and a fight in the UK for difference reasons. He appears to be very excited to express the influences he has never been able to express in other projects. He said he did not know what he was going for, but he did know he was going for all new things. This included a whole new way of recording for himself. Feel free to watch the interview below that was done with Enemy.com He has already released one song, after playing live in Leeds, UK. The reactions did throw many fans off, and the influences he talks about in the interview do seem to match up with this new sound. Surely, Gerard is correct about this being a fight. Most 'Killjoys' in the world want nothing more than My Chem to reunite, or simply for one of them to continue on with that sound. If that is ever going to happen, it is certain that it will not be any time soon. All the members are branching out into new things, and seem to be very excited on the matter.
Do you share their excitement, or are you dreading the changes? Leave your thoughts in the comments below. My Chemical Romance's Frank Iero has a new project called FrnkIeo And The Cellabration and he has released the first song. The song is titled, "Weighted" and can be found on YouTube as of right now. This song will be featured on the debut album, Stomachaces which will be released through Hassle Records on August 25.
Frank has been quoted saying, “When I first started writing this record I didn’t actually know I was writing a record… I kind of just thought I was dying.” This sparks some curiosity as to why he thought he was dying while he was simply writing a record. Perhaps the album will answer some of those questions. The album can be pre-ordered now via iTunes or the online store for Hassle Records. |
